Balaram Khamari from Balangir, Orissa, combined his passion for art and science at the Sri Sathya Sai Institute in Andhra Pradesh. Skilled in sketching and digital art, he excelled in streaking - isolating bacterial colonies, which inspired him to create 'Agar Art'. Using microorganisms' natural colors, he forms living, evolving art. His "Microbial Peacock" won second place in the 2020 American Society for Microbiology’s Agar Art Contest. Despite its beauty, this art form, involving pathogenic bacteria, isn't suitable for home due to contamination risks.
