That episode had the potential to be a game changer She-Ra and I could only imagine. What impact this would have had. Bravo James for bringing this to our attention. These videos on a Friday have become part of my Friday night viewing. Look forward to next Fridays video.
My God that would have been an emotional episode to watch. Definitely would have been one of my favorites from She-Ra had it been produced. Thank you for sharing this James
That episode would have been amazing. One thing that has bothered me as I’ve been rewatching the series recently is that there wasn’t more on-screen interaction between Adora, her parents and her grandfather. It would have been nice to see them spend time together after all of the years apart. I loved the crossover episodes because of the bond between the twins. 💕
Yeah, there's a reason the crossover episodes of She-Ra are some of the best...it's because we saw that connection to her family and friends on Eternia...and this one, had it been made, would've been magical! :)
I assume then that the only way this episode would have worked is that Adam's blood type wouldn't have been a match for King Randor's, but instead Queen Marlena's. If so, then yeah this episode would have made sense and it would have been nice to see She-Ra have some more interactions with her parents, even though they are unaware that She-Ra and Adora are one and the same. Great job as always. :)
Adora and She-Ra needed more time on Eternia and this would have been the perfect episode for that; seeing Adora with her parents and also seeing Adam/He-Man being even more proactive on Etheria during Adora/She-Ra's absence would have been great... what a missed opportunity for Teela to give more side-eye to Adora & She-Ra LOL
I always wanted Episodes of She-Ra set on Eternia where Adora would go for a visit and get involved in the action there. I thought that was what we were getting with the season 1 episode Darksmoke & Fire but alas it was set in the past.
Yeah, I didn't see "Darksmoke and Fire" until 1997 during the VHS tape-trading days...and I'd heard about the episode where She-Ra meets Granamyr - So I was a tad gutted to discover it all took place in the past...:(
I remember that episode. One of my favorites, but you're right, it would have been nice to have an episode of She-Ra take place on Eternia, or have the character on an episode of He-Man
I loved the crossover episodes, it's really a shame this wasn't made. I'd previously noticed a few He-Man episodes that seem to be directly inspired by Star Trek episodes, I think this must have been one of them as well. :)
Another great video, James. This concept would be great to see reworked for a follow-up to MOTU Revolution; maybe Despara/Adora ultimately has to save Queen Marlena…? Love that Shokoti artwork; I’m really hoping we get her in Cartoon Collection Origins soon. (Her cape is already tooled after Lady Slither!)
That sounds like an interesting premise for A 'She-Ra' episode. Certainly better that 'Wild Child', which was okay, but definitely not one of the 'all time greats'.
This sounds like it would have been an excellent episode. The premise makes it sound like He-Man would be fighting along side She-Ra on Etheria and then they go to Eternia (at least that is the jist that I get from it). What would potentially be more interesting would be if there is a an imentent threat on Etheria that cannot wait or be ignored... but Randor's situation is so severe that the blood transfusion cannot wait until that situation on Etheria is resolved. So the solution would be to send He-Man to Etheria and She-Ra to Eternia, basically having them swap places. It could have been an interesting dynamic. Aside from SOTS and the Christmas Special, we don't really see She-Ra on Eternia very much. It would have been interesting having her fill her brother's shoes while also helping Randor. Maybe she has to help Randor and also stop some kind of threat from Skeletor. We get to see more of her with her parents, getting to bond with them more just her and them. We see her interacting more with the world of Eternia and the characters there. And while we see a decent amount of He-Man on Etheria in SOTS and throughout the other crossovers, they could still find a way to make this different and interesting. Now that She-Ra is well established on Etheria, he may need to fill in in a way that he hasn't before. Maybe even needing to find a clever work around to solve a situation that She-Ra's unique powers (like her healing powers or her "Sword-to-" transformations would normally solve. Something along those lines. And then in the end, we could see the entire Royal family together again once all of the loose ends are tied up, before She-Ra/Adora returns to Etheria. Heck, this would even have potential to be a great 2-part episode depending on how far they might have gone with it.
It's funny, as I was reading your comment you put the thought in my mind that this premise would make for a great two-part episode...only to end your comment with your suggestion that it could be a two-part episode! :)
@@cerealgeekTV I could probably run it from the pitch to something approximating an actual episode? And probably I could make it very true to the Filmation vision of how it would go, due to my ability to "channel" characters (not literally but that's what it feels like) and get a feel for a particular style.
That would've been emotional. As a side note, I'm mixed on the Mdme Razz story. That one sounds interesting and would've given a bit more to Razz's story, but an Etherean version of Orko/Dreella? Dunno if it would fit.
With the exception of the "Thicker than Water" synopsis, all the rest featured on that page were adapted into full-length She-Ra episodes with some alterations here and there.
LOL - Fun fact: I have yet to watch the sequel to Revelation...so I was not aware that he died! :) - But, no, they didn't mention it - Also, bear in mind, those working on the Netflix shows never dove THAT deep into the Filmation series - From what I know, they watched a few episodes, the ones they needed to, in order to springboard their own new and unique lore! :)
It would have been interesting to see this episode, but what if She-Ra was to late to get to the king in time, and King Randor dies! Would have been a interesting twist to the episode! ( It's Shawn D )
If i were to turn the pitch for "Thicker than Water" into a "fanfic"/full episode, I might possibly consider changing the individual needing saving to Queen Marlena, rather than King Randor - although i can see why they'd pick Randor, higher stakes. (heck I could try doing two separate iterations to see how that would work out in each case) I'd also have to come up with a reason why it can't be Prince Adam/He-man or King Miro for that matter, but that shouldn't be difficult to do. Remind me if there's an existing doctor in He-man for the palace that could be used?
It hurts my heart that a story such as this was never produced. Unless I'm not remembering, I don't think that Adora/ She-Ra had any onscreen dialogue with her parents after the Secret of the Sword, correct? 🤔 And even then it was Adora, not She-Ra. When did Randor and Marlena even become aware of She-Ra, I wonder? *EDIT* I just remembered - the Christmas special. Still, never an episode of She-Ra where she goes back to Eternia and has scenes with her parents, I don't think? And definitely not one of her parents being an integral part of the plot. Again, this episode would have been quite epic. ❤
