Marcus served as Viktor servant when Viktor was human. As human Viktor was the ruler of those lands that's why Marcus refer to him as lord

Marcus turned Victor which then turned his entire Army and at the time Marcus had not yet evolved into what he was in the end of the second movie so he knew that he needed something to keep Victor from killing him which is why he said that if he died everyone in his bloodline would die with him. Because even if Marcus was stronger then Victor if Victors army would keep attacking him and shoot him with arrows making loose blood and thereby weaken him Victor would be able to come in and kill him. And as we see how many vampires he needed to contain his brother William and then Michael just casually rips the top of his skull 🤣

Marcus was stronger, but Viktor was the politician. The army was Viktor's and they were loyal to him, not Marcus.

They where all Loyal the Vicktor not Marcus!!!...
