Caleb really impressed me with his attitude. Especially how he dealt with that 262k loss, pushed through to keep his word to his customers and didn’t let the business completely die. I hope this kid sees success 👊👊
He needs to write a book on what not to do…. Starting with his moms advice, never hire anyone you don’t know, that’s the worst advice, hiring friends and family is one of the worst things you can do
He was a teenager and his mom was pushing stranger danger. Yeah I totally agree, that just throws a ton of emotion in the mix. Having been a guy that age, they can be primadonnas
Hearing him say he bid jobs that cheap then had to sub it out for more than still ended up refunding. That’s a tough lesson on a 17 year old kid. I’m impressed he was even able to refund everyone.
live and learn I guess. His moral ethics and business ethics got confused. I don't understand refunds for a lawn company, but come on man, never offer a refund unless asked.
Just watched on my personal account and had to come rewatch. Caleb you got this man. You may be young and dont let any of the who i call OG's tell you different or stear you away from things. We are our own worst critique of things. This industry can be hard and lots of curveballs thrown at us. Thanks for a great turnaround mike.
Caleb is impressive at that age. He has a great amount of awareness. Amazing how he focused on sticking to his word vs just refunding upfront. For someone his age that is not common.
What Mike is saying from 14-15 minutes is absolutely spot on!! Never care about what people say because they will absolutely keep you down to make themselves feel secure.
Brother. Get your self a mirror. Be proud of who you are, who you have become, and you are going to become. Your self worth needs a jumpstart. You are killing it at such a young age! Keep going we are rooting for you!
I believe in this kid! I think Caleb is going to be very successful in life. He is learning a lot of lessons at a young age that a lot of people never learn.
When you wear a big flashing sign on your back that says " you can easily take advantage of me " you're going to draw in the wrong type of people... But did he really even get taken advatage of? He literally told them they could ask for a refund for anything including the look of his hair... That was moronic and people used what he offered them. You cannot tell someone they can have a refund for any reason and then be uoset when they follow through and request a refund for any reason. no lawn mower/landscaper is going to do a perfect job every single time. You never refund for labor performed. If you cause damages or do a poor job you return and fix it for the customer. You do not give them a refund.
I appreciate you calling me on it as safety is very important, and it’s a huge risk. I ordered 6 pairs a few weeks ago because I loose them all the time, so we’re all loaded up and good to go. 👍🏻
Impressed with Caleb’s humility and willingness to reach out, ask for help and desire to learn and improve. His work ethic is outstanding. Also, big shoutout to Mike for all the compassion, and heart of a teacher. Love the content Mike. Thank you for all you do sir.
Don't look to other people for validation. Get your price correct. Push work at that price or higher. Get a good accountant who you can break down your profit so you can see where it's coming from and what customers are costing you losses. Cut the losses and keep shopping more customers.
God I feel sorry for him you can't price low ever the only ones that bite are the scum cheap bad payers seems like a honest kid that is being run over by customers I don't touch a lawn any less than 2 bucks a minute PRICES HAVE TO BE HIGH FROM THE START.
Caleb is a beast! a person this determined will ultimately always become successful, since they will never give up on their dreams, keep up the great work!
We believe in you Caleb. We know your heart is in the right place and we know you want to keep your word always. We also know that initially, you set out to be a good example for your peers, who had a less than stellar stigma attached to their work ethic. You have already proven yourself. You don't have anything else to prove to anyone. This time around ask God, not people, what you are capable of and seek to please Him and He will give you the desires of your heart. He created you and He loves you most. He will never let you down, leave you or forsake you. He will never lead you astray or disappoint you. You can trust Him. You are a very special young man, Caleb. We know that God has big plans for your life. Gpa and I believe you can do anything you put your mind to. You are a determined young man with strong character and integrity. Those are rare and unique qualities to have, especially in today's culture. You make us very proud Caleb. We are so excited to watch you grow into the entrepreneurial young man that God will help you become, in His time and His way. We love you Caleb. "I can do all things through Christ which strengthens me." Phil. 4:13 ❤🙏
This guy has what it takes to be successful. Open to coaching and learning, good work ethic, and not afraid to be wrong or fail. Just don't give a damn what anyone thinks. It's a waste of time. Now go get it.
@oraziohall2969 im not sure where you grew up but in the south just thinking that comment you made in my own head not out loud would get my head boinked by the closest heaviest item. Lol
@@8055boss8055 I thought he was an adult, I dont recommend adult men being led by any women even their mother's. Growing up thinking your Mom knows best, might lead to having the same relationship with your wife. Which is not a good idea!
IVE LEARNED SO MUCH FROM YOUR CHANNEL, MIKE. I STARTED MY 14 YEAR OLD NEPHEW THIS WEEK IN HIS OWN LAWN MOWING SERVICE. WE ARE IN TAMPA, FL. THANK YOU AGAIN MIKE. I KNOW I CAN GET MY NEPHEW TO THE LEVEL OF THESE GUYS STORIES. THE NEXT GENERATION IS HUNGRY.
Damn Caleb is going to go very far just like Mike Andes! Caleb you should consider starting a RU-vid channel to document your journey and gaining a following of the next generation behind you. God bless you and your girlfriend!
One of the crew likes having the cord where they can hold the handle in the other hand and it absolutely drives me insane. I have the part to fix it, and need to. Great comment! 😂
These are all the reasons why I just stay in my little truck with my base equipment and switch out every year. I clear $150k in revenue and live way more comfortably than the news would have you believe. My ONLY offer is to pay for spring through summer over 12 months. Extra for snow clearing. I'll add all the extras up front instead of upselling, but I'll still upsell. Only thing I advertise for is small mulch jobs
There isn’t anyone who started a business who hasn’t made mistakes. We all learn and move forward and this kid is mature beyond his age. This kid has tons of courage facing fears and admitting his mistakes and learning from them. 👍 good job buddy. And remember everyone wants to judge the gladiator but most don’t have the courage to stand in the ring and become one. People don’t see the years of hard work and growth it takes to actually start making money. You’ll be just fine, btw stay away from hiring your friends as much as possible.
To be clear, the marketing was an absolute steal. He paid less than $20 per lead and had so many leads he couldn't even get them all quoted. That customer acquisition cost is literally nothing.
Extreme High Five. Im super glad to see this dude got things back on track he seems like a really good dude. Heck he even got him self a lady. Wish you the best.
Hiring someone who just closed his own business seems like a bad idea. Especially with how old Caleb is vs. an older person.. if the person was in the same field, you have to worry about him sniping your customers to restart his business. Or them sabotaging Caleb’s business and customer relations out of shear jealousy. I’ve witnessed similar situations in the automotive repair industry. Keep up the hard work Caleb! Don’t forget to pay and take care of yourself as you!
As a man that upkeeps his own property watching this guy mow a yard with a house that has a roof covered in debris triggers me. :). Thats like a ladder and a blower and 15 minutes of work.
Poor kid says way too much. He needs to learn how to keep some things to himself. You can't be an open book like he is. People will take advantage of you.
This guy needs to figure out his issues. “I went around to everyone asking them if they thought I was good enough” proving something to people you probably don’t like is a terrible mindset
Wow I did 120k in my second year now in my 3 year and already double my customer base and it’s just 2 of us. It’s scary how many are calling me with no advertising. Its scary sometimes how fast I’m growing and can find people to work.
Keep it up man, really love your drive and work ethic! If I were you I might honestly think about joining Agusta. You would get a ton of support there, and you already are running things in a very similar way to the Agusta model. I saw the mike inspired P1 and things like that. Just a thought!
I think the hardest part of the job is knowing how to estimate a mowing job. It is easy to say I know how much I want to make per hour but to accurately calculate how long a job will take is hard. I wish there was a formula where I can be like this is the square foot of the property, there are this many trees, there is this much linear foot of edging, plug those numbers in, and out comes my price.
Landscaping is not necessary it's a commodity you give dirt cheap prices where you can't make any money mowing already doesn't make a ton of money this is wild listening to this offering refunds like wtf are you thinking. Need to get this company right before talking about different locations
I thought he was 25 and was going to throw shade but when he said he was 17, I was thinking dang, this young man is freaking awesome 😎 👏 Needs a bit of emotional consultation to level his head and he’ll be a millionaire by 25
My business collapsed during covid I’m working at an Amazon fulfillment center .. couldn’t be happier 😃😃 22.49 per hour plus benefits unlimited overtime vacation holidays .. running your own company is a suckers deal unless your from south of the border with access to unlimited cheap labor your SOTL
Instead of messing around of grying to think you a back injury get an open air trailer everything locks on it and you just lower a gate with spring assist and your done. Not taking this apart or that apart amd losing parts.
Honestly this kid needs to go find a regular job. I’m not trying to be mean about it but to put a clause in a contract that states if you don’t like our services we’ll refund you is just insanity. Obviously people are going to let you mow the whole year and then ask for a refund.
What’s done for marketing getting 300k a year? Just focusing on the stuff from your solo entrepreneur video? Door hangers, yard signs (gorilla marketing)? No paid ads?
Moment I heard he was so young when he started his business / noted his incredible character, I was like, "Gaurantee he's homeschooled." Sure enough, 23:45 it was confirmed. Caleb, you're gonna do great things! That said, you do need to cut the cord from your mom a bit. It's time to become a man and to do so, some separation from mom is a good thing.
I see maybe 16k in equipment, what did he do with the 300k year and 175k year. He should have put cash into business. Looks like he may have spent money on wrong things.
He tried to fool people with the cheap price them raise it and it backfired on him, hes not as smart as he thought. Its been done and we aint falling for his little tricks
Just need to have the Google verification post card delivered to that address; aka make sure the landlord is ok with you advertising your business being there.
You’ve got this! It’s absolutely possible. To grow to that size focus on doing amazing work, and knocking on the neighbors doors around where you’re working to build route density. Facebook would also be a huge asset just to do a few posts introducing yourself and the amount of work you’d like. Give it a few months, and you’ll have your schedule booked up in no time! Good luck brother!
I feel like this kid is almost punishing himself for something. Its good to be hard working, but doing so to the point that your doing it and saying you enjoy messing up is a little strange.
