The sword reminds me of Need from the Valdemar series. A sentient sword with the spirit of a woman trapped inside. She could teach her wielders magic and take control of them. It wasn't until later books that she talks and you learn her back story. Edit: also her last known wielder was a girl that was part cat that was trained in magic and life skills by her.

honestly the one anime I waited a year to come out and knew I would love . it is so good I have been watching anime since 1999 and know what I like this is one of those you know it going to be so damn good anime you see every 5 years or so and I was not disappointed . great story line excellent artists and great voice actors I love this and hope we get a season 2 but the sad part is it didn't do as good in Japan as it did here so the chances of a second season are slim at best . the only other anime I loved this much from 2022 was So I'm a spider, so what? and it's good for it's own reasons
