A little concerned about his plate discipline recently. While he's still young and has a lot of room to grow, he's struck out in about a third of his plate appearances and he draws comparatively few walks. Hope he works on it in the off season, he has the potential to be a star.

He has some glaring flaws to his game, like striking out a LOT, and his base-stealing has kinda dried up (6 SB, caught 4 times in last 42 games). But I have to admit when he is on he's REALLY on. The guys is a highlight factory. He just needs to find consistency.

Elly is doing great but he is seeming feast or famine. He does strike out a lot and they have caught him trying to stretch hits a couple times. He needs to calm down on the bases and I would like to see him make more contact. Besides that he is shinning on defense as well. He also seems to have more pop batting lefty than righty. De LaCruz is definitely all-world espn Sports Center with electric speed, but I believe long-term trouble in the clubhouse. He strikes out 3 times in every 8 at bats, his defense is erratic, he jumps before a tv camera during games because he craves ego attention, even acts immature post games, he runs through on base stop-signs, acts extremely immature as alluded which isn't good for long term clubhouse chemistry. While he has some value, the Reds should trade him to the American League for a top-notch starting pitcher + a good middle inning relief pitcher that can eat up innings. Keep / play Votto & India @ 2nd base as team leaders that set example alongside other rookie infielders. Sadly, both Reds left-handed 5 inning starters have become below avg liabilities because opposition hitters have adjusted, thus hitting them hard.

Lets not forget he got the first cycle for a red since 1989 in only his 2nd week

100 OPS+ and a K rate of 34%. He's gonna seriously need to bring that rate down and have an OPS+ way higher than league average. He's fun to watch when he's playing well, but that's few and far between.
