These old Korean romance films are a guilty pleasure of mine, there's just something really interesting about the way they're filmed. Kinda feels like you're watching an actual love story with real people and not just a film with actors
I can still remember the letters and the cassette player left along the chairs. Communicating to the future and the past is a very beautiful concept. Must watch it 💕
Her makeup is so natural and refreshing..love old days makeup...now days korean style makeup is very thick..the powder is so white and thick..the lipstick is very red..so unnatural..
Lake house is actually ok but there are some boring moments but they explain the ending better than the original. In Il Mare, I find the pacing of the story better and Ji-Hyun and Jung Jae have much more chemistry than their American counterpart. despite of not having a single kissing scene. (I wish they will do another movie again. I'm crossing my fingers. )
This is one of the first korean films I watched, when the "korean wave" didn't even happen yet. Never expected that Jun Ji Hyun would soon breakout in Asia, and Lee Jung Jae would get worldwide fame from a Netflix series 20 years later.
Same, but my first film was a different korean one. Long before the korean wave got a foot hold the way it does today. And no one could predict that Lee Jung Jae would breakout world wide from a Netflix series in the fashion that he did over two decades later.
@@d4isy557 I've watched this like 2004, this was the start of the first Korean wave, Sassy girl and The tale of two sisters was a hit during these times... a lot of good Jrock and Jdrama was all-time high like Proposal Daisakusen and Densha Otoko. Il Mare was a really timeless classic, I own a Bluray I manage to import cause its hard to find a clear ripped online..
Oh, wow!!! I loved the American version of the Lake House, and only just learned that it was originally a Korean film. Can't wait to watch it. Somehow, I feel that it will be even better than Keanu Reeves and Sandra Bullock. Thanks for sharing this.
its 10 times better than the lake house....actually I was disappointed in the US version...It was missing something..can not really pinpoint it...but its missing something alright.
Jun ji hyun ♥️ is my all time favourite Korean actress. I watched windstruck when i was a kid, watched my love from another star as a teen and watched legend of the blue sea as an adult. She's my forever 😍 girl crush
Letters, mailboxes, waiting. 2000s emotional film. It's a heartbreaking and lingering feeling movie. Lee Jungjae: A person who loves and loses love is more beautiful than who has never lost anything
There are many S.Korean films where they are paired together as Lead. Just how many times did they shoot together. Best friend indeed!! ❤️ Love both of them.
And she is still the top actress after 2 decades. Only other actres who has aura of jun ji hyun is her friend and senior lee young ae and jun ji hyun modeled her mysterious image on her good friend. But both actresses has the highest endorsement rate in Korea more than other celebrities. No wonder they dont work much lol when u can make millions from ads
Aaah! I LOVE IL Mare!!! This film is so good. I also like the Lakehouse but Il Mare has more impact. SPOILER ALERT Just the year they are apart alone, Sung-Hyun is in 1998 and Eun-joo is is in 2000 - that millennial gap gives a sense of distance in time. They even joked about how the future looks different in the new century. The Lakehouse is 2005 / 2007 it didn't give much impact. Kate jokingly said that there are already flying cars, but you can't believe that; but when Eun-moo says it, the punchline gets more impact. The ending too, American version gives you that typical happy ending trope; the Korean version puts you back to the start, no happy ending but a happy beginning. Although, the beginning of the Lakehouse is much better, giving the female character a realization that she already met him before they started writing to each other, albeit in unfortunate circumstances. It also drives the events of why she bought the Lakehouse in the first place, where in the Korean version we never really understood how she ended up living there.
I have watched it recently and it is one of those movies which is going to live in my memories forever . I really like movies and drama which gives me nostalgic feeling. Ending is so sad but in my opinion sad endings make movies memorable.
thank you so much Asian crush for letting me know this is the original that lake house is based upon. i loved jun jihyun in legend of blue sea and my love from another star shes an amazing actress
The lovers in "in the mood for love " are too honorable for me that they maybe suffering from emotional paralysis, here in ""IL MARE " the lovers would do whatever it takes even in time travel to be with one another their love has no boundaries a great film maybe the greatest movie ever made that nobody has heard off ❤❤❤
Just say; it doesn't matter! I just stay where I am!!! Gives on learning to have your own BIG HEAD. Okay! Just use your own common senses. You can be travel four corners. I cry a lot but now if I cry I want to put my tears in the cup and drink it again. Heyheyhey!!!!!!! If my new oldest grandson cry, I like to make lyrics from his sounds and put cup to his eyes to take the tears and he says no and stop crying.
The girl in his time cannot recognise him. The girl in year 2000 recognise him. But he was not available in year 2000, bcos he died. But she manage to warn him in his time not to go to the place in March 1998 and walla he stay alive. History changed. He survive the death and decided to meet her in his time at the Lake house, 22 December 1999. But he got to do a lot of explanation. Hopefuly he succeeded. But if he choose to wait in his time until the year 2000 at the apartment, then it will be simple, no need introduction. But he must make sure not to meet her(so as not to change history) until that year. Risky stuff. So better to meet her at the lake house at the point of moving out. The letter not in the mailbox yet.
I don't like the ending in this movie, the man suvived, but he is the only one who knew what happened. That's why he offered the woman a " magical story" Who in right mind will believe him? I prefer the ending of the Lake House.
This time travel things doesn’t make sense. Her past self and current self are in the same world? Wait never mind that’s mean there are in different time dimensions. The one he is writing to is in a different dimension?
Nasinpie No, it’s just he is in the past and writing to the girl who is two years in the future. He is currently living in 1997 and the version of the girl he is writing to is living in 1999. The letters they send to one another travel through time to the other via the mailbox.
Omg it’s so annoying, why can’t he just walk to her and talk to her like „hi, may you not believe me but it’s me, *his name* „ , y’know, so it would be a lot better 😫😫😫😫😫
