racqui87 he was an asshole it was obvious that he wanted to leave his wife but didn't know how. He got married too soon instead of playing the field first.

Basically, he was a coward. He didn't have the guts to tell his wife he wanted out. He even gave in and married her.

He never wanted to be married in the first place. The wife even admitted to it. She said she pressured him to get married.

@@I.pray.to.George.Carlin it's not about pride, it just seems uninteresting. If it was about pride, we would've secretly watched it and say nope never seen it. But, it's just that these movies are marketed in such a way that it seems completely uninteresting to most guys. However, if we do watch a well made one like this one for example, there's no shame in admitting that it's good.

It happens sometimes when couples marry early, neither man or woman has time to develop and mature in trial and error relationships. Clearly Janine was more mature and didn't need the same experiences Ben did. Since Ben only had Janine, he wanted to experience more. Even if he didn't meet Anna... Even if he has some kids with Janine... he will probably cheat sooner or later. But he lied to her. Lying is worse. Lying shows a lack of morals and a liar can't be trusted. That's why she divorces him. I like how the end of the movie shows Ben checking out a girl at the supermarket. It's like, he wanted to be free to play games with girls so now he gets his wish. Ana will never get with Ben because Ben lied to Anna also. He stuffed her in a closet while he lied to his wife. So Anna knows his true nature and will never go to him. Women often choose poorly with guys. They choose someone familiar, because maybe they also lack the courage to choose the right one. We're all just people who have lots of messed up experiences so sometimes it's hard to love and be vulnerable. Ultimately the main character Gigi is the most vulnerable so she is (for a brief moment anyway) rewarded with her love (who knows how long it lasts). Also the guy on the boat was vulnerable because he never replaced his lover and stayed true to her.

Ben no she divorced him bc he lied about smoking it hurt her that he couldn't tell her the truth not only that but he was cheating on her as well. She had enough of his emotional abuse.

She divorced him because he couldn’t be honest with her. Heck, he couldn’t be honest with himself throughout the movie as he struggled with the affair. The only time he was completely honest was when told his friend on the boat that no guy wants to get married because after they do, all they think about is the women they can’t sleep with but even then, when he realized how he sounded and that his friend didn’t share the same feeling, he was still in denial of being a pig. Lol.

T M9091 Yeah, I agree! He was definitely a pig. His wife obviously loved him and just wanted him to be honest with her. He confessed to his cheating bc he thought that be his ticket to getting out of the marriage but she wanted to make it work and then when she asked him if he was smoking that was his chance to come clean with EVERYTHING which he didn’t which showed he wasn’t taking the marriage seriously.

Because people have the idea of meeting the perfect one, or they just want to fornicate and not marry. And both things are toxic, because nobody is perfect and marrying is a lifelong commitment that involves hard work and isn't just the feeling of the moment. If people search for the perfect one, they will never settle with anyone, not even after marriage because they will think there is somebody better out there.

Maybe but they still suck.Gigi and Alex,however,are the king and queen here!
