That's an old sellers trick. Call the day before and ask for an item that you know they don't have so they'll buy from you.

He keeps talking about how much they sell for online. Then sell them online!! Going to a middle man gets you less than half the worth.

I have been selling all my life, but I can't imagine owning a pawn shop and having to deal with the aggravation of people constantly arguing with you to buy their items. I'm sure at some point it can get pretty confrontational in that line of business. I would either have security in the building or arm myself to the teeth. Maybe train Ruby and Honey to be attack bird and cat :)

Reminds me of this one time I was looking at cars at a super shady place in town only bc they had a sweet Porsche 911. The salesman goes in to get the keys, then does an entire line of coke thick as a pencil, off his desk right in full view of the parking lot. He runs out, jumps in and tries to crank the car. It doesn't even turn over. I'm speechless, backing towards my car at this point. Desperately he tries cranking it again. Nothing. When he tries a third time, he shouts out the open door, "HEY WAIT! LOOK! IT STARTED! VROOOOM VROOOOOOM VROOOOOOOOOM!!"

He only pushed the on off button 931 times. Everyone knows it’s 932 times to get it to turn on!

I used to work on these vintage lasonic boomboxes. They are really easy to work on..if you can get parts for them, and reasonably. The 975 would easily fetch $650 plus on ebay, if in mint working condition, but still could be less if market for them is down. I would have offered the guy $75 too, with all the problems it has.

I love clocks and watches, Pete. My Dad (96 years old now) after he graduated from high school, went to Waltham, Mass. to watchmaking school around 1942. He graduated with the highest marks back then. Not sure if the school is still there now as most of the watches today are disposable. He had his business in our home called Mitchell's Watch Repair, and i have grown up with clocks on the wall that he had repaired. All kinds, I especially remember the cuckoo clock that played every half hour and the rectangular marble one with the lions heads on each end. I've always wanted to have a clock wall with all kinds of rare clocks hanging and chiming. Call me crazy, but i do love them..lol.

This is how a pawn shop should be run. Even if an item is low price he still makes an offer. I go to pawn shops pretty often and I'm always amazed when the store is like " we only buy high end items" this guy is awesome. Thanks for the content and I appreciate how you run your operation.

It's crazy the pawn shop by me I take something in that was working and they won't even give me $20 for it and it sells on eBay for $200-$250. I don't want the liability of shipping such a large item and they don't want it. Meanwhile Pete is willing to give a guy closed to 50% of it's eBay price and the guy doesn't want to take it. I don't get it.
