I had to do a video on one of my FAVORITE male vocalists. Wanya Morris is the powerhouse lead singer of the legendary group Boyz II Men. When Wanya sings, you feel it. One of his best vocal attributes is his impeccable chest note range in my opinion. He is a great awareness of his voice and expertly knows when to tone it down or turn it up. That's to be expected from a vocal great like Wanya. The rest of the Boyz II Men members are amazing. Enjoy the video!

Wanya understands the emotional beauty behind chordal structure and harmonics - which is why his riffs and runs are so satisfying to listen to. He's not just throwing his voice around without a purpose or just for the sake of riffing like some modern singers do.

@J. Russell I've listen and analyze to a lot of Wanya riff and run, truly amazing, but he rarely use flat 5, flat 9 or 6th. That's okay, but Brian use bigger interval and hit some "exotic note" as we say. Also Brian, he use tension and release wisely. So i prefer Brian on this point of view. But Wanya is powerful. You don't have to agree with me thought.

I had a big crush on him in the 90s. You can tell that He looooves to SING and he is very good at it. Tank kind of reminds me of him in a weird way like they (both wanya and tank) stand out in both groups. With their riffs and their power of oversinging.

Love Boyz 2 Men 4 ever. I also miss Michael (from the Band). Seen Sam Smith's Bond Song for the first Time, good Song, quite unique. But Wanya, Boy, he is really amazing, what a Singer! Black People can sing and transport feelings in a way which somehow white people never could. Also the Song with M. Carrey, the B2M Part of course all great, but she lacks a bit. I discovered Randy Crawford some weeks ago. What a sweet, nice woman with a warm lovely Voice.

First of all: Love love LOVE Boys II Men Second: those runs tho! It's one thing to have the skill and agility to do it, but it's another thing entirely to be able to not only do them during the right time but tastefully as well. Dont mean this in a mean way, but you must be white. You just names singers that were "popular" on the crossover. In the females you have Aretha franklin, rachelle Farelle, Lalah Hathaway, Celine Dion, and many more. Males, you have Donnie Hathaway, Ali Ollie Woodson, Peabo Bryson, Howard Hewitt, Freddie Jackson, Lil G (from Silk), Eric Benet etc. The runs Wanya is doing on this clip, I advise you to go look up a Silk live performance and listen to Lil G's range, runs, power, etc. Its just Sill stayed R&B while Boys II Men crossed over. Lil G can give Wanya any and everything he can handle and more because of his falsetto.

Only the great Luther Vandross was untouchable. People forget the older groups and singers of the 50’s and 60’s sang like this. Gerald Albright, temptations, the dells, stylistics, 5th dimension, Frankie lemon, and plenty more male singers.
