Hes gone on to write a lot of fantastic music for motion pictures. Vertical Limit, The Sixth Sense, The Village, Lady in the Water, the list goes on. I think John Williams pretty much bogarted the coveted role as "the worlds film composer", but there are plenty of other good composers out there.
Saw this film when it came out in 1990 ( I was just fresh out of Secondary School ), and the ' He sleeps ' scene, literally blew me away, and I added ' LEARN THE PIANO ' to my bucket list, and a few years later ( 2016 ) I finally took up lessons, and still at it, despite the distractions and difficulties . I will probably look up the film again. Yes, music ticks all the boxes that words cannot tick. Just me, thinking aloud.
He has been around more that 50 years ....he arranged music for many so called famous artist like ELTON JOHN... Good music does not get played on radio or tv...perhaps that might be the reason why he not known by many ...that will change.
Not even three minutes ... so brief. Yet so rich, it feels so much more. A joy for the senses. Julia Roberts and Richard Gere were magical. And this piece ... and "Fallen" gave their scenes the emotional heft that made the movie soar and endure almost 35 years on. And will continue to be loved by millions for the memories it evokes.
Same here. Watching Pretty Woman for about the 30th time. When this song came on, turned on my phone THANKS SHAZAM!!! 32 years and I have finally found it. I am not lying when I say I can die a happy man.
The most heartwarming theme, doesn’t get the recognition it deserves! Wish I could buy this live track as a digital recording and the sheet music straight from Newman himself.
This is the only piece of music that has no words that can illicit emotion from me. It is a stunning piece and emotion provoking. Just lovely. Thank you.
I dont know why but for some reason this theme makes me cry .Even if doesn't have words .It makes me feel so loneley. 😂Well as a matter of fact it is because i'm so lonely .I live by myself with no one around me 😢
@@JoseMorales-ym1ru same here I live by myself, and I’m very lonely, but I love listening to beautiful music like this song from pretty woman makes me happy, however, I start to think how lovely it would be to be able to hold somebody in my arms
My best Rosie passed away 3 years ago, and everytime I hear this music, I think of her. I think of friendship and trust, and how that lives on in my memories and heart. I'll see you someday my friend..
In the past I have seen this Movie several times with my first Great love. And I have looked for this Melodie many Years and never found. Today I have found and it really bring me back some emotions.
This was in Prague, I feel like Prague has some great musicians, most other classical orchestras aren't so comfortable playing film music but the Prague Philharmonic plays almost as well as any orchestra in Los Angeles or London.
My 4 month old baby goes to sleep to this every night it works like a charm every time. I always loved this piece it warms my heart to see my baby girl does as well.
When I lived in hollywoof from 1985-1997,those were the best party days. But everything changed when a friend told me Richard Gere and Julia Roberts were filming in his building were vivian lived. This movie makes it better for me because i know every part of the movie,I LOVE THIS SONG,MAKES MY HEART YEARN FOR LOVE.
Great and sweet melody that caresse your deeper feelings ! When the movie came out, i bought the CD Pretty Woman OST, but « he sleeps » wasn’t in it. The only way to listen It was to buy the VHS and then i could sleep...
Finding this video is such a pleasant surprise. I have always loved this melody but was never able to find a version of it without the voices from the film clip until now. It's beautiful.
Hay temas que te hacen sentir, te emociona, vibras, lloras, la música se siente, y éste tema es increíble, hace que me transporte, olvido todo y solo siento
WOW. Concert performances of a piece of film music pretty much always sound different from the original as heard in the film for various legit reasons - even with the composer conducting. THIS, however, good Lord. A perfect recreation! So much so I'm wondering if it is the original track layered with the video. Clearly, it's not. And it's a gift. I've been waiting for this sans kissing sounds etc. for 33 years! ❤
I just lost my sweet brother, and when I typed in his name to youtube this song came up. He was only 63 and died at the hands of a VA hospital. He served 8 years in the US Navy. He was my Richard Gere when we were young, and he was in the Navy.
