"only a thousand dollars in a game" Damn, 20 years ago, people would NEVER imagine spending more than a few dozen dollars to "buy" a game, now you gotta buy the game, buy expansions, pay subscriptions, waste thousands on micro transactions and some people think it's natural to do that... It's amazing how companies manage to make absurd and abusive practices become "natural" to their consumers.

It sounds stupid but that tiny delay is an incredibly powerful gambling/addiction loop tool. If you're not paying attention and just in that spin spin spin mode, that tiny delay tricks the dumbest part of your brain into thinking you were closer to winning that time than the last one with no delay.

my favorite about about these grindy endgame things is once you get em you quickly realize you were never supposed to get them because trying to get them is the only actual content. Its like climbing a mountain for the view and when you get up its dense fog with 6 inches of visibility.

The best part is is that this is to only bump the stats from 122~133 attack points to 131~142 attack points with 12 accuracy...

The only way you get progression in bdo is by spending time running circles killing mobs for 10000 hours... or pickig up potatoes or what ever those lifeskillers do

Before I quit BDO. My fist pen item not even the black star was 68 times and each time it felt awful that when I got the pen item I felt numb and not even satisfied. That was then I realized that I no longer wanted to play because of how unobtainable max gear was to poor people.

Call me stupid, but I snapped myself out of playing Destiny 2, after two weeks of nickle and diming purchases, by maxing out the battle pass. It took away my reason to play the game and made me realize how much money I just spent on a video game that I'm not enjoying. Haven't paid for any new video games since then, and I will watch streamers play new games before I choose to buy them.

Thats why people that don't spend money on the game tell you to buy your upgrades. You don't get that rush of finally getting it, but you literally never have to suffer like this regardless if you spent 30hours grinding or swiping. It's difficult for people not to throw their silver away though and take a punt at getting lucky. Ive been there myself in this game. I struggle to save up even like 20 billion without spunking up the wall. But I've had time where I've tapped stuff on a 5% chance in 1-5 tries and I've had times like recently where I cant get a TET accessory on a 30% chance after 6 attempt. Or even failing 5 x 50% chsnces in a row. I never gamble IRL, but somehow it just doesn't really feel real doing it with currency obtained in game so I dont care. It is disheartening though and im currently on an extended break from the game because ive failed a certain TET accesory multiple times.

Fun fact: 10 spins at 3.9% success chance each gives you an overall ~32.8% chance in winning in any of the spins. With 20 spins (2k USD?) it would be up to 54.9%. You'd need to get to 58 spins to get over 90% chance of getting the item, 76 to get over 95% :D The more you know! Probability theory is fun!

BTW my gears are TET/PEN enhanced with free recourses the game itself give, even afk you get stuff. There is a great difference between P2W and P2P/rogress . All resources, materials, to get better gears can be taken-freely playing or even afk. The money i spent in BDO -about $300 in 4 years- are to unlock more storage / inventory slots or weight, and only 2 outfits (the game give for free outfits box , btw, no need spend RL money for it).

Bdo is the best p2w game because whales always lose in enhancing or pvp. I have BIS weapon in 700 hours played and spent only 50-100 hours grinding because there are constant events giving you 1-3k crons stones or J hammer (1 jhammer - 1 attempt). I ve got 20k cron stones in 5 months of only logging in once a day when there were big events.

I almost started playing this when it came out. Glad I didn’t, this is insane.

They really should add a small amount of increase each failure. Like .05% increase or something so eventually you could get it. It would also make people feel like they get something and then spend more.

I'd like to remind you all, that yes you can technically roll 1% 100 times and try for the technical 1/100 but each roll is still 1%. You can roll it 1000s of times and never get it because of that. Statically unlikely but not impossible

Hollow knight is a 20 dollar game. He has just spent the equivalent of 50 players. To make more than this game, you would need to at least 10x the players.

9:53 keep in mind his fail stack is underwhelming. Typically you use a 230+ fail stack and you’d get a 5%+ chance at success which is not bad considering this is the BIS weapon. Which again you can buy off the market by grinding the in game currency (silver) for free and at a generous rate

Yikes. Reminds me of Vindictus. In that game enhancing your weapon and failing had a possibility of destroying the weapon completely, and these weapons would take weeks or months of raid drops to craft. In a way typical character gachas these days like the Genshin Honkai series and Nikke are much more forgiving with your money.
