The 2 local kids at the beginning are fearless ... they sit at the end of the wave and pop airs over the surgeons table. Give it a couple more years and they'll be ruling the main peak.
being almost 60 yrs old now it totally reminds me of how surf trips used to be ,, sometimes it would be weeks or months before you'd see another surfer especially indo ,, totally different experience then now ,, nice score !!
I've also been living on a small Pacific island with (not as good) surf for the last six months, and that hair thing happened here for both guys and girls. LOL. It was definitely the time to experiment. I'm not really looking forward to leaving my piece of paradise even if it's for home for the holidays. Also, typo: *surfed
He left when he heard there was gonna be a lockdown which is exactly the opposite of what he should have done (and likely how the virus kept spreading further). Had he been casually in the Mentawais unable to get home, that would have been a cool story. Instead, it was irresponsible and very selfish of him. And now he is selling his story. This is worth disliking.

Feel really bad for ya... having to surf perfect barrels for 3 months with almost nobody out. What a joke, try having to work 40 hours a week with whining ass people everywhere and no barrels to surf. Wanna talk about losing your mind.
Dude next time theres a pandemic, just buy a spur of the moment full ride to the ments, charter a yacht, and park it up for 3 months with no worries! Pretty simple thing I guess right?

he really nails the feeling of getting lost on a trip. You lose yourself and become what feels like your true self. you fully lose touch with any kind of reality or awareness of real life or money or responsibilities. Time becomes completely abstract. Shit gets really weird and coming home after really fucks your head up.
Yes, many people have had this experience where they get bored of barrels, you just need bigger ones or time off, I had it at nias a four foot barrel became boring got so many, then u have time off different souroundings you get ure froth back
I know what he is talking about, had the last 5 years living in front of the most perfect, fast left hand point, surfing it any time it was good which was a lot, not Indo, but Ireland, cold Indo. Not bored of it yet haha

I can relate. Our office got shut down and we all had to work from home. After a while I also had "a bit to drink". I didn't shave my head though, so I can only imagine how bad he had it. ;)
For sure, my cousine as a nurse didn't have the same fun time as him at those covid time, as I.........and she is a hell of a good surfer.......Such a looser my cousin......
I also got my head shaved (clean off) at that surf spot. First and only time in my life to shave my head. (Normally I'm not a skinhead) Loved it bc the temperature is warm there. Felt better without hair.
