@adamgreenwood9922 when he went to their HQ he told them he didn't want to fight and asked for the DragonBalls but they refuse the same thing with muscle tower he asked them to release the village chief but they refuse
@@ACRcoolie The anime is based off the manga, yes they have filler episodes/scenes, but it's still based on the manga. If it's not in the manga, then this scene is not why he spared Frieza. Hell, the anime studio didn't even know about Vegeta and Freiza yet, Toriyama himself probably didn't even know about them.
Vegeta fought to kill, Goku just killed in the process he didn't take joy in it, he fought to protect people, killing was not the end goal is the point It's not saying he has never killed
That's not really true. Some of the RRA did die when he defended himself, but he never went in for the kill on any on them. Hell, he didn't even kill Tao Bai Bai (althought it was believed), and it wasn't even his intent when he kicked the grenade up, he most likely didn't know what it would do exactly. He killed Gohan by accident as an out-of-control Ouzaru, so you can't really count that. So, who did "Kid" Goku actually kill? And I mean, deliberately killed, not involuntarily manslaughtered. We look at Tamburine, Drum and Piccolo. He didn't kill Tao Bai Bai, he didn't kill the Murasaki Brothers, he didn't kill General Blue or Commander Red. The list goes on. Calling "Kid" Goku a "straight up killer" is just 100% wrong.
People say that Goku shouldn't forgive his enemies. But actually that almost always worked, Majin buu the androids piccolo vegeta and more. It's only the big villans that don't deserve this, frieza goku black those types of villans
@@ProDuo9000 That may be true. what the androids did against future Trunks is horrible. but look at frieza and goku black they are a danger not only to earth but to all 12 universes. Goku black is just a monster and Frieza is never going to stop he is only going to get stronger and more dangerous
@@joopvanhedel1372yeah true Goku black was pure hearted showed by the tea he made fir his surpreme kai, the reason why the tea was pure like his heart even though he had evil intentions was because at that point he didn't think he was doing anything wrong he thought he was truly doing the right thing. There was no going back for him then.
@@chosofbPG what part of in dbz did you not read in og yeah he kills people even if Toriyama disagrees and has said in some interviews he's happy he made sure Goku has never killed anyone
It's funny that he's a powerhouse who's learning to get stronger by relative weaklings, think about it: Saiyan's and Freeza Force as a whole, you're either producing power/ki/life energy like nobody's business, or you're not even making the team. You need to be a fire hydrant because boss is Niagra Falls! And it's like Goku is a fire hydrant who is learning techniques from garden hoses. The "Kamehameha" (Kikoho, etc) is just the techniques humans learned to focus their energy, little as they had. It isn't until Kame that he meets someone capable of training him to his full potential.
Honestly this wasn't even in the original Japanese Manga they just added this in the english version, It's kind of weird because immediately after this he kills a buncha people in the red ribbon army
He literally kills King Piccolo after this convo with 8er. 8er didn't give Goku a no killing rule. Also all those characters u named died and came back and Goku personally kill Kid Buu and Frieza.
A key moment is Goku's mental development. Android 8 is always forgotten. OG series is so good. Ultra Divine Water he drank was the most epic foreshadowing ❤
Classic Dragon Ball moment and proves that Goku was utterly ruthless and killed threats. Which is something that some fans kind of forgot about or just know nothing about.
*Well Goku isn't into killing actually, which in this vid here, he actually wanted to go beat him up to a pulp hehe.. That's what he meant by teaching him a lesson, he just wanted to wreck him enough that he wouldn't ever dare to go hurt, harass, mess with or fight some other people in the future.. 🤗 And also like just think of it, you'd think that Goku, being a kid here, would ever go ahead and kill somebody, especially a citizen like this guy here, who doesn't have any super powers or any special fighting skill abilities and what not, like all the other alienated villains like Frieza etc, this guy here was a mere human from his own very planet Earth, so it's very unlikely that he would've gone for a kill there to em normal peeps..* 🤗
@@Lucian_Balthazar obviously you do not know how to read the situation Goku was going to kill General White Goku over the course of fighting The Red Ribbon Army knew the Red Ribbon Army was evil and Goku wanted to put an end to them after the Red Ribbon Army made so many suffer. Goku may have been kindhearted as a child but Goku did not stand for evil beings it took Android 8 as well as several other important teachers to Goku that to make him think a little differently as he Grew Older into Dragon Ball Z Goku killed every single person in the red ribbon army base except for Doctor Gero and a few others who were running in fear of Goku. And Goku was absolutely brutal to King Piccolo in his minions he did not hold back on them at all he absolutely hated them as well as King Piccolo even punching a hole clean through Piccolo. Goku only begin to change into the later parts of OG Dragon Ball which was the same Goku that changed Tien shinhan from a potential cold blooded killer who wanted to be like Tao which in a sense Goku killed him as well. Obviously do not know how about Goku's character and how it evolved over the years put Goku was a straight-up killer of evil beings who only wanted to hurt others that's why when he was forced to kill Frieza on Planet Namek it caused Goku to reflect on what his past teachings were telling him because Frieza was absolutely evil I need it to be put down and yes I know Goku wasn't the one who finally ended Frieza in Dragon Ball Z that was Future Trunks but my point still stands. That's why Goku sort of reverted back to his killing nature in Dragon Ball GT due to truly evil beings Goku would destroy them instead of giving him chances. Don't confuse the original Goku will Dragon Ball super Goku which is a completely different Goku then the one that true OG fans Like Me grew up with.
@@needlespoon4734 man you can make your mouth say anything but it doesn't mean it's true and I know way more about Dragon Ball than you do you think that Goku did just did not write kill enemies before this teachers and Android 8 bring out a different side of Goku through the years I don't see where you get off calling yourself an OG Dragon Ball fan if you don't even understand the character. But keep living in that delusional world of yours.
well more so an appreciation of life. Like later on he doesn't even really hunt animals to eat them anymore. Which I think was a nice touch that at the beginning of Dragon ball he's killing a fish, and also eats a wolf. But in Super he's growing vegetables.
The world is pretty grey though. Most people aren’t black and white, if there even are any. A lot of people can become better. You would also have to be careful what someone calls a monster. What you said might have been said by soldiers in a war, because of propaganda.
Almost had me in tears remembering this as a kid and how Gohan and goku had near same android experiences being taught and given advice and both having the major power up after the loss of their friend
Both Androids taught equally important lessons for their time. It's still kinda funny how numerically these 2 Androids are 8 models apart. 16 died giving Gohan the wisdom, between them they showed 2 Saiyans the time and place for violence through morality. More human than many human characters in dragon ball. Even 17 learned to appreciate animals from 16's sacrifice. It's part of why he's a ranger in super. Eighter gets a happy life thanks to Goku and through those he met 16 gets a lasting legacy, it goes full circle when you look at it.
Ironically the similar android, Android 16, taught Gohan that fighting was worth it for the cause. And in that saga Goku had the exact opposite of what Android 8 preaches here, urging Gohan to finish Cell immediately.
The worst trope of all time imo, "if you kill a killer you'll be just as bad as them" no you won't. Not all killing is equal, is a soldier who kills just as evil as someone who kills for fun? Is a man who kills a home invader to protect his family as bad as a serial killer? The police who shoot someone commiting a shooting? No because the reason why you killed is what determines the morality of the situation. So no, killing someone to stop them from killing other people does not make you as bad as someone who kills because they like it and want to. Can we end this trope already and acknowledge how dumb it is? Im sick of hearing this terrible take in shows and movies
Goku needed that in that saga cuz this is the saga where Goku had his biggest body count... even tho right after that lesson he went and made that body count the biggest ever by KILLING THE ENTIRE RR ARMY MEMBERS IN THE HQ...
@Gogetasolos2314 If you watch the episodes again, you can see most of the RR Army fleeing near the end of the "infiltration". He didn't kill them all. He just took out their main base at the time. He definitely did kill a few, though. No denying that.
😢That Best friend who really just wants to protect you and make sure you don't become a monster too..man these clips of Dragon ball have been hitting hard...these are my Childhood cartoons...and they taught very very important lessons🙏🏻🤍
Eeally wish Goku would run into more Dragonball characters as an adult. Some of these people shaped who he is as a person so much and then were never shown or mentioned again.
Vegeta has a lot of thanks owed to Eighter; but Goku killing off a scumbag like that guy when the opponent has caused so much different and the former has done so much good does not make Goku “no better than him.” That’s one of the worst things to say for some moral high ground.
Eighter thaught Goku the most important lesson how to be pure heart and kind to his enemies if it wasn't for him piccolo and vegeta and the androids and buu wouldn't be who they're now thank you eighter
and he hold on to that after all these years, even in the face of fighting with alien, space invaders and gods.this is where he developed those goku mercy that we know of today.through the z,gt and and now super.
You know i would love like a mini series or something that allows us to see Vegeta react to Goku's upbringing and moments like these. He doesn't know why Goku is the way he is or even that most of the Z fighters were once villains.
Eighter was probably one of the most favorite characters to me in DB. From one who could destroy, to the kindest gentle soul! Probably one of my greatest influences to this day!😊✨️ Makes me think if him and Android 16 had met. The would have been great friends!🌟
The universe should really thank Eighter for teaching young Goku that, 'killing is wrong'. Imagine if Goku did kill that guy. The taste of blood, he wants more
Bless you Sir, Mr. Toriama, mercy is from the Lord our most high and tru king! You reached the world with the Goku charachter and you reached a Billion hearths with his love for life+he’s the strongest. Tells alot about your soul Sir. RIP and be blessed
And with that lesson in mind, Gokuh taught Vegeta as well to be merciful in Namek by telling Krillin to not murder him. He saved both Vegeta and Krillin tho.
