James Harrison is still with us!! He is 87yrs old and still in Australia ❤ His selfless act of donating as much blood as he could of his rare blood type is helping science discover a CURE for Rhesus Disease!! Bless this man and his family.

Wait they found a cure? I only knew of the blood donation he gave they made a semi cure but they still needed his blood for it. It couldn't be artificial. A cure is amazing.

Idk if you misunderstood the scene or maybe I haven't seen the show the whome way. But he doesn't have cancer, he just thought the phone call about (what turned into him being able to save young lives) his blood was going to be him discovering he had cancer. Which he doesn't.

He doesn’t have cancer. Bobby expected to find out that he has cancer because he thinks he deserves it (long story) but instead he finds out that his blood can save so many people which is hard for him to process because Bobby was planning on ending his own life later on down the road after he saved a certain amount of people on the job as a firefighter.

So this episode, Chim (his friend) had the fire station donate blood, and although Bobby (main guy from short) doesn't like needles, he did it anyway. Later he gets a call from a doctor, saying to visit the hospital and talk about his blood donation. He immediately assumes it's cancer and asks his friend to come. They are then told he has a golden arm that can save babies lives from a certain disease that only effects them. I can't remember if that's correct. They leave, Bobby is devastated because this prevents his plan to save a certain amount of people amd then being able to see his kids via death. When Chim finds this out, sometime later he brings Bobby to the hospital again and shows him a baby that is using his blood to stay alive. It's been a long time since I watched this episode, but I love it.

Yup that's how it is for me right now. I've been in therapy for about 30 years. Abused in all ways as a child and then my last relationships have left me absolutely terrified of even being in the same room as a man. No male doctors, nurses, even taxi drivers, all have to be female. I had no issues with the hospital providing female doctors, nurses and therapists and for years I was able to request a female taxi driver to take me to the hospital and home for my appointments. Then they called me and told me I'm no longer allowed to book a female driver and have to accept whoever turns up to drive me. Sorry that's impossible. So the referrals my doctor wrote to the hospital, 1, I'm having incredibly bad light sensitivity and migraines so I needed to see an eye doctor, went to the first appointment and they made another one for me to go back for an MRI. Had to cancel and tell them not to send anymore appointments. 2, I'm almost totally deaf in my left ear and partially on my right ear and it came on suddenly. I had to contact that department and say, sorry, can't get there. Yes I'm aware that soon I'll be completely deaf but still impossible for me to get there. 3, I've been having heart issues for a while, angina and my doctor said I need to see my cardiologist again because my angina has gotten worse. Got the appointment on Thursday and had to message my cardiologist and say sorry, I have no way to get there so no point sending me any more appointments. My doctor is absolutely furious with the taxi company but apparently they were just being kind in allowing me to have a female driver and now a new company has gotten the contract and they said not happening. So yeah. I'm going blind, deaf and most probably heart is going to blow up soon and honestly, I'm just tired of fighting

For Bobby it's a matter of survivor's guilt because his actions led in directly to the death of his wife and his children. If you keep reliving it it never will heal. The only thing you can do up to a certain point is learn to live with what happened and do your best to make yourself and the people around you better. I learned that lesson at 10 years of age when they brought my 19 year old brother off of airplane when he got killed in Vietnam. I joined the military became a hospital corpsman and now I'm a paramedic. So that trauma push me to help other people and in doing so it helps heal my wounds.

I know it’s a touchy subject (to say the least), but the show really should have explored him wanting to kill himself. Like all of a sudden, he’s good because his blood can save babies and he starts dating again? I know it can be argued that Athena saved him, but there was like a 4 month gap that should have told via flashbacks. And even then, 4 months is still a very short amount of time.

The RH factor is rare so without Mr. Harrison more children would never be born not to mention myself when i needed two pints of blood. Blessings to Mr. Harrison and his family.

Maybe stop relying on a god that doesn't exist. There is no plan from him because he isn't real. Whether the guy believes he does or not is irrelevant. Him having a rare type of blood is just as random as his kids dying and him having cancer. Shit just happens. Aside from the fact this is a TV show and not reality, if it were reality - the decision of what to do with his life would ultimately be his. I'll never understand people wanting to think everything good they choose to do isn't really in their control (because it's a part of some plan), while everything bad is somehow either their/Satan's fault or also just part of the same nonexistent plan. I can "believe" aliens run our world or that we're living in a simulation, but it still pushes the responsibility for your choices onto some bullshit 3rd party.

@wisteria3032
@wisteria3032 3 месяца назад
no, the clip is about a desperate man who had involuntarily killed his own wife and kids and was looking to save as many people as he had killed before killing himself because he couldn't stand the pain. And then he found out he could be the only one to save thousands of children and to do that he had to stay alive which means he had to choose between his own pain and the pain of other parents. Now, his character was religious - it was never clear if he always was or became after his family's demise - but he could have just as much talked about destiny instead. He just found out he couldn't kill himself without taking even more lives with him and at the same time he found out that he had a real chance at redeeming himself (I am talking about how he saw himself here, nothing to do with god. He had despised himself up to that point, thinking he was a waste of oxygen and suddenly he had a new purpose) but you decided to take exactly two phrases out of a 10 second mashed up short from a whole ass series and before even trying to understand the context of the story you had to tell everyone that 1) god doesn't exist and 2) this is a tv show and not reality, in case anyone had missed this.

@wisteria3032 Dude, are you high!? He specifically says, "God's punishing me. My punishment isn't death, it's to go on living and suffering for what I've done." I mean, you can be brain dead and ignore what's right fucking there - but it's still there. And again, I'm not the only one seeing it. It's just that I'm calling it a bullshit excuse, where as most others are, "Praising Jesus." I mean, damn, the guy basically says, "If only I didn't have this miracle blood, I could kill myself to be with my kids. But I guess I *have* to do this." Now, maybe he is happier about his choice later. Maybe he stops being suicidal. I don't know, and I don't care. The fucking clip is about him saying he's suffering because "god" is punishing him for his kids dying, and then it's not until he find out he's somehow also special and can help others that he decides this was a miracle. When in reality, god doesn't exist, miracles don't exist, and there is no plan. I specifically mentioned this being a show and not reality to avoid an idiot saying, "It's just a TV show, bro." My point wasn't so much to the show, but to the dozens of idiots commenting, "Amen!" or, "God had a plan!" Because he doesn't, he isn't real :).
