Thanks! It was so satisfying to sit beside you while you were making souse. You're helping to keep the old ways alive for us and I think that's precious beyond counting.
Hello family, I made the honest mistake during this video of saying to put your head cheese loaf in the oven overnight. The instructions are to put it in the refrigerator overnight. Sorry for any inconvenience or confusion this may have caused anyone.🥰🌺
Looks so good. my auntie used to make it for the new year and we look forward to that every New Year’! she went home to be with the Lord. I watch the whole video and it bring back so many memories thank you.🙏🏾so much for this video🥰
Thanks for this post. Souse brings me back to my childhood! My Poppa and I would sit together and talk(the conversation was really him talking and me listening) and eating souse and crackers. I still carry those conversations with me to this day! I will use your recipe to make myself a block of souse👍🏾
Inspiring video, especially for those who remember eating hog head cheese and crackers. Makes me want to make it myself, it's hard to find in the stores. So I'm going to put this in my back pocket. I owe you thanks.
Ooooooh girl thank you for this recipe…I’ve made head cheese with Turkey butts long years ago and it was delicious…. My Dad used to make pork souse..and sadly I never paid attention However your recipe is going to get me going..Thank you so much..it’s funny it’s been a year since you posted this recipe..it just shows how important cooking videos are..I appreciate ya❤️💫❤️💫
Never tried it like that, that sounds good, you should try it by putting it in the microwave for 10 seconds so that it melt’s, then scoop it up with the saltine crackers, sooooooo 😊
This is both creative and delicious ~ seriously Sister Lady D, it really is!! May you and your entire family & friends be continually blessed this New Year and always. ~ Sis Lynn
My mam-ma in Tennessee made hog head souse. It's been well over 50 years since I've had any. The memory of it is still a favorite. Thanks for the video!

Hi Ms.Lady D.... First let me say how are you? And Happy New Year's to you. Yes sir ree I love me some Hog Head Cheese Souse. And it's the right time of the year/season for it. Go ahead then run my blood pressure up I don't care because that's some good eating right there. And yeah make sure you get all them bones out. I wish I could reach through my phone screen and ask you for some when it's ready to eat I know you got to let it mold that means chill if I'm not mistaken. It's another year and I'm gonna say it like I said last year you are truly something amazing to look at. Wonderful video as usual and tyfs this delightful meal/snack and you have yourself a blessed and wonderful rest of your day and week!!
My grand parents and my mother always used a HOGS HEAD and REMOVED THE EYES. THEY GRINDED THEIRS UP. THERE IS DIFFERENCE BETWEEN SOUSE AND HOG HEAD CHEESE.
Oh My Goodness, I Have Been Wanting Some Head Cheese For Years. Can't Find it in this Part of Pennsylvania Where I Live !! My Mom Was from Louisiana and She Showed Me How to Eat this But She Never Made It !! Pops Liked it to. I Am Making This Before I Make My Gumbo !! I'm trying to Guess Your Accent is it GA ? Thank You !! ❤🖤💚👍🏽
@@ladydsdeliciousdishes1866 I did make the souse, it was good but next time I am going to only use the pork neckbones & tails. I want more meat in it next time.
Yes if I said put it in the oven it was definitely a honest mistake Hopefully everyone else has as good as sense as you and put it in the refrigerator and not the oven..
