I had a question on my exam today “where do your start when performing a head shave?” On the Milady book it doesn’t state a specific starting point but I would like to know for future reference.
We usually start at the crown, and shave the back of the head first moving outwards from there with the direction of the hair growth, since that's where the hair is usually the thickest. Want to get that done while the hair is still soft from the towel. Hope that helps!
The shaver does about 90% of the work but it won’t make it as smooth as the straight razor would. They work great together. This is how we’d recommend a beginner barber doing a head shave. An experienced barber could skip the shaver part.
