I have been looking for a comparison on Peak!! Thank you for being 100% real. I don't want paid sponsoring or actors selling me crap. I want real people tasting it and giving an opinion thank you. 🤘
Based on this review, I bought 6 meals from Peak Refuel. They just arrived today June 2022. I was very dismayed to see a best by date of 11/25 on all of them, which is less than 3 years from today. My Mountain house have a best by date of 2047. For camping next week, Peak may work fine, but for SHTF supplies, Mountain house is the clear winner by far.
I did a comparison based on Amazon prices and Peak refuel is actually better price per calories. The downside of Peak is it states it is only 5 year shelf life stable vs 30 for Mountain house.
Don't let this dissuade you. Peak and Mountain House use the same processes packaging type etc and on paper should have the same shelf life. The main difference is in Marketing. The CEO of Peak wants repeat buyers that are backpackers or even just housewives in a hurry, whereas Mountain House is aimed more at the long term storage market as well. They both easily will last over 20 years, but like the CEO of Peak stated, you should revolve your long storage food into your daily diet when it starts to get old to preserve the flavour and enjoyment of it. It is for this reason that Peak has a more conservative rating. It will still be food at 25 years, but it might be a bit more stale tasting. And the same is true with Mountain House, but their rating is aimed more towards survival not flavour. Both are excellent choices for short or long term storage. Databyter
Just found you guys. Thanks for the video! My family and I are gonna have to try to beef stroganoff now from Peak because that’s one that we haven’t tried.
It seems to me that in general the quality is there for both. In a survival situation calories is everything. I think the higher price is offset by more food.
@Charles Methered … They are both some of the best meals my kids and I have tried. My girls are picky so that says something! We typically go for the Mountain House just because of price point but Peak has some great options that are not offered from Mountainhouse and there are a few we buy as well.
If that other brand doesn't taste better than Mountain House, than it's in bad shape, I tried M.H. Breakfast Skillet and Beef Stew, and couldn't choke either one one of them down. They must season everything with the same spice that was swept off the floor of Chinese Sweat Shop, because it didn't taste much different. Mountain House is totally disgusting and I seriously wouldn't feed it to my dog. I felt bad tossing it out for the wildlife, but I didn't want to totally waste 20 bucks.
I want the info, but you guys seem half asleep. You should try showing a close-up of the nutrition info for each because many people retain info better visually.
@@flatheadoutdoorsmen1356 can’t please everyone. Clearly you found your one single bad apple. 🙄. Y’all are great! I really enjoyed this and purchased a few peak items to expand my stock pile
