He himself canonized the Loguetown filler and stated in an SBS that he added more story in filler sections of Dressrosa that he didn't have time to put in the manga. Marine G outposts were introduced in filler material before they were an important part of the manga. Electricity as a specific threat to the strongest Straw Hats was brought up in the filler arc right before Skypeia. Many of Usopp's special attacks were introduced in filler. The reason the Sunny had several bags of sea salt that was perfect for dealing with zombies was explained in filler. Robin gained the trust of Chopper in filler, and they continued to be inseparable in canon. The anime reworked the explanation of the Calm Belt to work it into the Warship Island filler. Thousand Sunny's soldier docks, as well as many of its on-ship exploration and function, was reworked into part of the Lovely Land filler. The meeting of Aokiji was reworked into a filler arc. The story of Yosaku and Johnny is filler. The walk to Arlong Park is filler. Practically half of the ALS backstory, including the part that explains how they trained in skill, teamwork and focused their dreams into attainable goals, is filler. The ending of Wano was forcibly rushed out the door in the manga, but Oda was able to add several scenes he wanted to as anime filler. If you're just reading the manga, yes, you'll get a relatively complete, clear picture of everything. In the anime, it's all intertwined. That's why you have a fanbase that screams at reactors to skip filler, but also say "watch the second half of this specific episode" or try to give recaps of what happened. And even then, virtually every reactor gets confused at some point over something the story acts like you and the characters know. Because it was explained in filler. One Piece's anime is not like Naruto's, or Dragon Ball's, or most other shows. It is not designed for you to miss episodes. With clear exception (like recap episodes or the little AU stories) the filler is not designed to be skipped. Even Oda takes it into account when writing the manga. You can say that One Piece's filler is many things, but "a waste of time" is not one of them.

After reading the latest chapters, ig it's safe to say that he definitely WAS the strongest marine in history (during his prime) who could absolutely shred devil fruit users without having one himself. And even now at 78 years of age he's strong enough to make a punching bag out of an admiral

@@sirdromos2769 I feel like post timeskip akainu can high-extreme diff garp. Garp is a legend for sure but age is still a factor determining the end result. Sakazuki is in his strongest form rn

@@CyborgDiscord i feel like kaido said Haki is the most important in a 1vs1 fight and garp is probably the most complete Haki user left of the old Era.

@@sirdromos2769 he most definitely is. But age is still a contributing factor. Rayleigh couldn't hold kizaru long enough not because he lacked skills, but because he's just not as strong as he once was

@@abesde9232 When we originally watched OP, straight when they came out, we went through all the fillers too (had to), and all the OG OP fans know, that they added some kinda beauty to the anime. We (at least me and my buddies) never regretted watching them. After all, it's like finishing a game with all side quests completed, which is a satisfying feeling :)

​@chamithkavindaweligepola870 I just find it funny that people will complain there's no in-between arcs of the crew just hanging out yet avoid filler, which has said moments! L for those people and forcing others the same fate.

@@crcoghill Yeah, in the end, we can at least hold our head high and say, "we went through all of it, without missing anything out!" And, that's one way of saying I'm one of the biggest OP fans without saying it.
