Add these items for the "Need on Hand" list..... 1. Dielectric Grease.... Things to remember list.... 1. Always put on you Exhaust Brakes when trailering that beast. It is beautiful, 2. Always start the day with a full tank in the truck.... easier days are ahead of you..... promise. PS - You backed up like a pro! Awesome job!
Marcia and I have laughed and cried until we had to take a break watching your journey. We subscribed as we toured a 395 @ LazyDays this week and are contemplating moving from our Keystone Hideout trailer to a new Grand Design 395MS as well. Sonny’s is great BBQ in Georgia! We look forward to continuing to follow your journey. Be safe, ALWAYS create and use Checklists! Enjoy the Journey!
Hey David - In case you like the 395 I know of a new one taken out 20 miles and they decided RV life was not for them. He's selling it at a great price in KC. Just a heads up incase you would be interested. Thanks for following along. Todd & Sheila
Y’all need some walkie talkies for communications while checking lights, backing/parking etc. And I hate driving through Atlanta - the x85 bypass is almost always easier. Sonny’s, meh. It’s a chain. And please do some videos of eating at restaurants, cooking both indoors and out, recipes, sights, activities and more. I’d slow down, because your rv tires are probably not rated for more than 65 mph. Me, I like to hold it to 60 or lower. It’s also very helpful on fuel mileage. Flying J usually has an rv lane. Get some RV Snap Pads, they will help on hot asphalt and soft soil when leveling.
So we things I’ve learned in 2 1/2 years I’ve been pulling a trailer. Check off everything you need to do when hooking up, then walk around your rig again to double check everything. 65 Mph is probably the fastest you need to go. If Waze says it will take 3hrs to get to your destination....add an hour or more. You two are fun and I’ve enjoyed you being able to laugh at your self. Most of my travels are solo, and finding gas to fill up my truck while pulling a 30’ trailer is a challenge!
Todd and Sheila you guys have an excellent chemistry together . So far I can see that you have changed from where you first started ,good video. I will be watching .Stay safe
The sa me thing happened to us on our RAM 3500 and Grand Design Solitude 375. Use a small flathead screwdriver to nudge the pins in the wire towards the cinter of the connector. It tightened the connection and all is well now. You guys are funny. Keep it up!
As much as you guys move around, you may want to look at getting ax auxiliary tank for your truck bed. That way you can fill out at the truck stops where there is plenty of room.
You guys are funny. Now I don't feel alone, lol. Stuff happens. Every trip. We have a 42'er fifth wheel. I have anxiety every time we hook up. Great job backing up! I put a 60 gallon RDS auxiliary fuel tank in our Ram's bed. Reduces fuel stops. Best mod I've done! Looking forward to more videos!
Just started watching your channel. I laughed so hard listening to Todd talk about the full propane tank that I had to keep watching your channel. I laughed only because we ran out of propane our first night on our first long distance road trip with 27 degree overnight in a Cracker Barrel parking lot. . I love your sense of humor. Keep on keeping it real.
Glad to be part of the switch crew !! And I wanna order a hat 🧢! Thank guys for the videos! Oh and welcome to Florida my home state! I live in Springhill, it’s about 40 minutes north of Tampa !
You are my newest Chanel to watch! Very funny and real. Thanks for the laughs. We are getting ready to go full time in a couple of months in our Winnebago Tour 42QD. See you on the road!
Hi there...enjoying your channel! It's very engaging and I love that you are keeping it real...and not doing a lot of editing. There are other channels out there who try to make it "professional". I definitely prefer realistic, and I bet you will find most of your potential followers will as well. The hubby and I are hoping to be able to travel in a handful of years after retirement. We are definitely looking forward to it. Congratulations and safe travels.
Enjoying your journey! You guys are to funny. Glad you guys made it to Tampa. If you see Ray Clark with Grand Design please tell him Chip and Donna are still waiting on our center console for our 395 ms-r! Lol
"I'm a joker, I'm a smoker, I'm a midnight toker" - You guys are hysterical, hope to meet you in person on the road when we head out on the RV Life road!
I'm so glad I found your channel! Super excited to follow your journey here from south Texas! Keep those videos coming...👍 With covid, watching youtube is now my hobby🤣
Our new fave rv channel. 2 years into the full time thing and thing still constantly need fixing. Bought a 45 ft motorhome, We had a 5th wheel years ago and I wasn't going to fight backing that the rest of my life. Good job
Recently found your channel and enjoying! We’re KC’ers (Go Chiefs!) and recently upgraded our rig to a super C. Maybe we’ll run into you on the road one of these days. Stay safe and enjoy your new adventures.
You guys are great. Great Kansas City humor. And by the way thats where I am live. North of KC. In Smithville. Very close to Smithville Lake. Don't fulltime but love my RV! Used to have a 43 ft 5th wheel. Decided it was too big. One thing I will share with you.................Don't drive so long. My rule is no more that 6 hours per day. and never set up at night. Too many crazy things can happen at when your tired and at night. Besides that..........carry on!!!!!
I'm a new Himiway cruiser owner as well, got mine Christmas weekend and have followed your tubes on your bikes. Just watched your travel to tampa. Good luck. Love your smiles. Peace be with you David.
You guys are fine! I live in Atlanta and I never drive an RV through the downtown freeways. I hate driving a car through there! Good resilience though! We hope to RV full-time in a year and a half. Never driven a Motorhome, but somehow your channel is reducing my anxiety! Thanks - keep up the great videos! Rob
A common issue with the brakes on these campers is: 1 - the trailer brake wires connect on the drivers side brakes and then the wires run into the axle tubes across to the other side and connect to the others brake on that axle. 2 - we have all heard aid wire chaffing, well that’s what is going on. 3 - easy fix. Run mew wire from one side to the other side of each axle. Zip-tie it to this backside of the axle, no moving wires, no wire chaffing. Make you wiring connection at each brake hub same as factory. You will never have that problem again.
I am so enjoying your videos and that was some pretty good backing up, whether newbie or not! We have a Ram and when we took our 5th wheel to be inspected, I didn't like how much it was "chucking" and the truck kept showing that trailer brake disconnect warning, too. Guys at the trailer shop that did the inspection showed hubby where the plug in located in the truck was a bit corroded. He bought a $7 part, installed it himself and problem solved. The bad chucking was from when the truck (350 HD Diesel 4x4 dually) would stop and the trailer wouldn't quite stop when it was expected to and would "push" against the hitch, as the truck stopped. SO glad we found that out before we hit the road to the Gulf Coast. And as for running out of diesel, that is BADDDDDD !!! Looking forward to your future videos.
I just found y’all on here. We are full timers and have been since March 2020 basically hit the road the week prior to the world closing. We have learned to adapt. We just went to that same Lanes Peach place and stayed the night last month. Great place.
Grand Ole RV...I live just up the road...I remember seeing your RV on my way to work, very unique...we have a saying, if you don’t like the weather, wait 10 minutes.
Just found your channel. Your laugh is infectious. So glad you have such a good co-pilot! Can’t wait to see your adventures. Happy trails Switch it Up!
Glad you can keep your sense of humor and that you have arrived safely in Tampa. Have some fun and enjoy the show. and look forward on seeing more of your videos. congrats on the 1K subscribers!
Fun video, my wife and I had fun meeting you at the RV show and talking about your 395. We would like to meet up with you if you make it down to the Fort Myers area.
You should get decals for the back of the rig and your truck windows made with your channel name. A way to advertise while you’re on the road and get more subscribers 👍🏻 We get our 395ms the end of next month and then we’re hitting the road for a year! So excited and love watching you guys start your journey.
Sooooooo I am a wee bit late to the game but found you guys and now bingeing from the beginning. On our 4100 mile road trip last summer, we stopped in KC and ate at Jack Stack. (First time in KC for all of us) That was the best brisket I have ever tasted, melt in your mouth amazing!! So I am not surprised that Sonny's did not measure up 😆
I have made the trip from KC to Orlando 20 plus times I have always used the HOV lane through ATL it usually moves quicker and you don't have to fight changing lanes to make highway changes. Congrats on 1K.
Love your channel. Have seen all the videos now and they are just getting better. Now that you’re at your first “longer” stay Todd now you can chill for a few days.
Not sure if someone already touched on this but I had the same break issue with my RAM. There ended up being water that had gotten into my wiring harness. I was able to unplug the connector that splits the harness from the 7pin on your bumper to the plug in your bed. When I did a good amount of water poured out. I let it dry out and filled each connector with dielectric grease. No problems since. Hope this helps if you're still chasing this ghost
We just discovered your channel and love it. Our hope is to full time in a GD 397 with our 2021 Roadmaster when I retire in 5 years. Seeing your downsizing and transition is helpful.
You guys need a pair of walkie-talkie's for communicating while doing your checks...better then cell phones if you happen to be in an area with no cell coverage. To test your brakes...just do a "tug test" once stopped (squeeze gain slider) and you will know immediately if the trailer brakes are activated.
We just discovered you guys over the weekend. Absolutely LOVE your videos!! While we’re sorry you’ve had the issues you’ve had, we couldn’t help but laugh at how you present them and keep them comical yourselves. You guys are like a comedy RV Vlog of which no one else is doing. So glad we found you and have subscribed!!
🤦♀️. Our truck did the SAME thing... it’s a DODGE thing!😡 I NOW drive a FORD. Got sick of Dodge warning lights...😏. I wish you best of luck with it! Love watching your videos!!
Omg I’m 💀🤣! “I’m a joker, I’m a smoker, I’m a midnight toker? I think that’s it...y’all are so funny I’m binge watching looking fwd to getting out on the road & just know it will be a debacle for us n take it in stride y’all have! Cracks me up!
We ordered a r-pod 202 and looking forward delivery in the spring. We are newbie’s and appreciate the tips and humor from your travels. Stay safe and enjoy!
Todd, the issue you are having with the brakes is a loose pin in on your 7 - way in the bed of the truck, that is why it keeps coming and going for the trailer brakes. The lights are not as sensitive of a connection but the signal to your electric brakes are. It should fit nice and snug. Hope this helps you out and hope to meet you guys. We live in Tampa and are awaiting delivery of our rig we ordered, a 397TH. Let us know if you want to go for a bike ride while you are here in the area.
Thank you, thank you, thank you !!! I was wondering that... The truck is only 3 months old and our rig is only 4 months so it is driving my nuts on what could be wrong... I will add this to my list to check... I truly appreciate your input!
I can totally empathize with the anxiety of pulling a trailer through traffic, getting fuel, and for long hours. It does get more comfortable, and you will adjust your traveling to what you are comfortable with. Since you are pulling your home, there's no rush to get anywhere. Walmart for a night works :-)
Loving your journey! Thank you for sharing. We have 2 small kids and are weekend warriors with our travel trailer. Making me miss camping as it’s so cold and snowy by us.
you have a brake controller on your truck just squeeze them while you are rolling slow and see if the trailer brake will engage. And no I don't own Sonny's lol.
Just found yalls channel gonna binge the rest of your videos! it was great to see the latest 2 and the rookie mistakes. I say this mainly because we just ordered our rv and will accept delivery in April and am anxious about make a ton of rookie mistakes myself, it was reassuring to see the way yall just laughed through them and learned from them( I laughed and learned right along with yall).
My RV Brother, we feel your pain. This is our first time pulling our rig and there had been something wrong each and every day. Hopefully we will make the tampa rv show on Saturday, maybe we'll see you there....
