Just changed the driver's side low beam bulb on my VF series II SSV Redline. Went in through the wheeel well as per your second method as the engine bay on the V8 is jam packed with stuff and I didn't think there was any chance of getting to it from above. Getting the stone cover far enough out of the way was tricky and even then it was really difficult to see to unhook the clip. Finally got it done. The frustration was immense but cheaper than the hour's labour I would have been charged at the garage. Thank God these bulbs only blow every six to seven years! I really think it is a design flaw that you have to go to these lengths to change a b****y light bulb! Thanks for your video, it really did help.

After doing it this way, I found out there’s a much easier simpler quicker way to do it. Remove clips & front tray, twist washer bottle spout & it and the lid / washer dip stick comes out with a 180 degree twist. Then the air inlet elbow just pops out, & easy access to rear of globe. No need to remove air box etc at all. 👍

Cheers mate! Tried your way, couldn't remove the lower part of the airbox, kept fouling against other parts. Ended up going with your second suggestion. Thanks for the helpful video!

I went the of removing the wheel and inner guard off, found that easier. But thankyou so much for your help, the driver's manual wasn't much help!

I changed my left low beam globe today on my VF SSV. Wasn't that fun.... The good was my car is modified so I only had to remove the infill panel to get to the back of the light. The bad is it took me 20 minutes and 3 sit down breaks to realise... install the globe... then clip it in place.... then connect the wiring..... in that order! Do not connect the wiring to the new globe first as it impedes the clip. Looked at the right hand side for future reference.... I think I will go see my mates that service my car when that globe needs replacing.

I put LED globes right through my VE lights. What a nightmare, getting those stupid clips on with the new bigger LED globes. Plus, if you plug the wiring sockets in backwards, the lights don't work. I assumed they could be plugged in either way, so I spent an eternity checking fuses and wiring. I swapped the globes around, and the globe I thought was dead, worked, and the one that worked didn't, so I was sure one of them was faulty. Had I known the sockets only go one way, I'd have saved several hours. Anyway, don't do what I did.

Great work, good video, just wondering if you have also done a video for the driver's side bulb replacement? Because I need to see what I would need to do for that side, or if you haven't do you have a RU-vid video link of someone else doing it on vf that you could send me please?

The drivers side (right side of the vehicle from within the vehicle perspective) is done via the wheel arch. Personally I find this video is only helpful from the specific nature of this problem, a passenger side dip beam being out. In many cases, the owner of the vehicle would be replacing both head lights. And in that case, the easier method would be to lift the front of the vehicle on jack stands and pull both wheels and open both wheel arches to perform them both simultaneously. Personally I always perform headlight bulb replacements in pairs. Why, because they usually come in pairs, it keeps their light patterns and brightness more uniform, and if one bulb has gone out, it is very likely the other one isnt far off. So when I perform this maintenance, I just perform them both and would not use this method at all. Lug nuts are very easy especially with an impact wrench and lifting the front of the car is pretty simple as well. Just wish this wasnt required at all, but it is what it is...

I have done this on my VF SV6 and when i start the car I'm getting the following warning. "Check left/right dipped beam lamp". Anyone else having this issue.

Did you install LED lights ? if yes then you need to buy Holden VF H7 Canbus Unit for left and right

Take the wheel off and pull back the hard cover that's held in by a few screws. Just did mine, pretty easy access without the tyre in the way

It's very easy to do it this way as demonstrated in the video, we have team members at the workshop that have done heaps and all go in through the top route. If you were unable I understand why you went through the wheel arch, but it's certainly not needed. Loads of access the way it was done and no bending in tight spaces on the ground or jacking in the air. On the drivers side going the the wheel arch is the only way 👍

RH side is through the wheel arch to gain access, ya can do the left side that way also but I prefer this method on the passenger side

That air filter was nowhere near as easy to get on and off as you showed, that red cap at the back had to be removed and even then it took some wiggling to get it off, was even harder to get back on. Got the job done though
