This was so helpful and gave exactly the information I needed. I know nothing about cars and I was able to change my low beam light on my 2016 Trailhawk in 5 minutes- only for the cost of the 9005 bulb ($23 incl tax!). I'd never have figured out how to disassemble the gasket under the wheel well on my own. The 8mm socket was perfect. You even saved me the time of experimenting with that. Thank you SO MUCH!
Awesome video. I did exactly as you said and replaced my headlight. The dealer wanted 120 to do it (including the bulb). I’m a 60 year old female with 0 experience in doing anything to my cars. Thank you thank you
Ahhh Man!!! Thanks for this. Same jeep and same driver side light out. I wouldn’t have known how to access the bulb much less change it. I even used a screen shot of the bulb you used to show the auto shop what I needed (the guy was struggling for some reason) Thanks! One tip for the next guy that I didn’t notice. There’s a clip on the bulb, you need to push it up to pull the bulb out. Probably obvious to “car dudes” but I had to put a little more light on it and take a look because I didn’t know about the clip.
Your video is accurate and easy to view. I replaced my daughter's 2016 Cherokee headlight #9005, today. I did turn the wheel/ tire in as far as is goes, like you suggested, I'm 64 and have always worked on vehicles, but it also helps to see how something is removed/replaced before you start, I give you 👍👍
Omg very helpful video!! Right to the point, how it should be! My dad usually does it for me but had to do it myself this time. 🎉 thank you dude!! My jeeps back in night action lol
Thank you sir. Got this done pretty quickly and easily thanks to this video. Just a tip for anyone that tackles this. Make sure the tabs on the light bulb assembly are centered correctly. I had a little trouble with them but they snapped in place ok after you get them centered.
Thank you for sharing this video. My daughters 2016 Cherokee TrailHawk fog lights gave us the warning today. The left side was really easy. The right side passenger side get ready to rumble. The air intake is 8n the way, hope y'all have a small hand. 😂😂
10/2022 my friend said a shop wanted to charge her $600 I said it can’t be that hard let me try. $70 in bulbs and about 45mins thanks to you!! Great video thanks for the help!! I’d buy ya a beer if I could.
Thanks for the video! I was able to change mine and save money. However, my bulb (Xenon) was expensive but I was happy not paying anyone labor to install it.
Thank you for the straightforward instructions. I thought there surely must be a way to access the headlights without removing the battery & air filter housing unit. And you've shown us. Just a wild thought, but possibly Jeep WANTS its drivers to be unable to do even the simplest maintenance & repairs ourselves. 😵
Maybe there's different configuration with the engines but I also have a 2016 jeep cherokee and u can actually do one side from above. My passenger side I cannot access from the hood because there's a box right in the way. Driver side was do-able though and my hands are not small.
Your comment made me curious so I went out and looked under the hood. For me the cap on the drivers side was wedged between the windshield washer fluid bottle and the side side of the car. I also had to reach down under a bracket. I could touch the cap but would have a hard time removing the bulb. For clarification I have a Latitude 4x4 with a 3.2L V6 Engine. I also have the trailer tow group which lists "heavy duty engine cooling". I am not sure if that limits my access or not. Thanks for the comment. It may save some other people time in the future.
The passenger side should a similar process. I did not see a difference in brightness. However, my replacement bulb was the same as the bulb that I had removed. You may purchase brighter bulbs but then I would do both at the same time. To date, I still have not had to replace my passenger side bulb yet. Just the drivers side.
My 2016 Jeep Cherokee Latitude is the biggest POS garbage pail ever. After this one dies (which I'm sure it ain't much longer), I'm never getting a Jeep ever again. Done. The absolute biggest crime on this whole pile of poo was the headlights. Even with upgrades you can't see 💩 at night. Nothing. This is a huge safety issue especially if you live rural on back mountain roads with no road lights at night. Even with road lights, the slightest bad weather or rain right back to blind as a bat. I thought the newer Cherokee would be good. We had a 92? Cherokee that still drives. That thing has been through hell and back. Perfectly beaming old school lights. In winters it would get buried in 15ft snow drifts...you just dig a hole to the door, get in, start her up, and she would punch out clean in seconds. Beast mode. This thing now is just broken all around.
Hi, i have the same car and my passenger side light is out took it to the dealership and they quoted me $532. They said I had to replace the whole unit and not just the bulb does that sound right because it doesn’t make sense. Thanks in advance
It looks like I didn’t have notifications turned on for when people comment. If you also have a 2016 Jeep Cherokee then I do not see why they would have to replace the whole unit unless there was some kind of wiring issue. I would recommend just trying to replace the bulb first on your own or at least get a second opinion at another shop. As Treyton had mentioned, the passenger side light should replaced the same way as the driver’s side. I’m curious what you ended up doing?
Tips With Stitch You guys saved me $ Thank you so much to everybody who replied!! ended up replacing only the bulb which cost me about $16 there was no wiring issues or anything so I’m not exactly sure why I was quoted such a ridiculous amount at the dealership.
Great video and I didn't have to listen to a 5 min rant by some maniac waving his hands around saying you should have bought a Toyota their headlight bulbs last 2 MILLION MILES.
I literally cried when I saw this video. Same low beam out and same color lol. People have been trying to charge me OUT THE WAHZOO to replace it and I refuse to pay hundredsssss of dollars for a mf light bulb replacement lmao. I'mma do it myself.
the whiter the bulb the less time to burn. The pretty white bulbs average 100 hours compared to reg basic halogens that have a 400 hour burn time. the basic bulbs meet and even exceeds the oem bulbs. plus basic bulbs are half the cost of those white bright bulbs.
