Weird comparison indeed. BMW uses at least Laser Light on their new models...

Because BMW hasn't had any upgrades to their headlight tech. The laser light doesn't change the demonstration it only increases the distance of high beam. Matrix headlights are more advanced with the ability to change the beam pattern with upto 80 different LEDs. BMW only have 4 LEDs that can change. High beam left / right and low beam left / right etc. Sad but true, I own a G21 3 series and moved from an C8 A6 the lights were much better on the A6.

@@safc44 this is disappointing. I upgraded to the laser light on my bmw thinking it would have similar functionality as the Audi. Oh well.

@Gourab Das matrix or not my real world experience having owned the C8 A6 and G20 3 series (currently) with visibility package (adaptive & laser) is that the A6 was far superior. It's under 40mph for the lasers, not 60mph btw.

Not for US market. Never will be. Active matrix was approved in 2019 in USA. Still locked out of US market for 2024. We won’t be seeing this technology here.

Not always. When Mercedes's Led Multibeam came out, they were much better than Audi's matrix. The models of Audi before 2009 uses to have very bad headlights.

I never see they using indicators

I drive an Audi S5. I always use my indicators. Lol

The turn signals suck. I hate the multi mode bullshit. I still use them but I hate when it goes in the opposite direction. This is one luxury I don't want. 530

I use indicators with my Audi... confusing people so much, they don't believe me I really want to drive in that direction 😉 Ok... in deed drove a lot of Volvo and got used to indicators there and myself get annoyed of others not indicating they leave a roundabout or indicating (before!) they change lane on the road.

I have it and it's a treat to watch it work at night. I can drive with high beams on all the time. Amazing

The patterns are to show exactly what it can do as a very visual demonstration. It's a thing to show and wow people at dealerships and get them to buy it. Showmanship to get people to put better headlights in their car.

It does not make sense to compare new with old technologies

Because those are just high beams, nothing more. Audi also has laser headlights. BMW is incredibly outdated in compared to Audi and Merc

@@Systolic120mmHg A lot of the technology mentioned in the video was only available with high beams. And BMW and mercedes have the same if not better technology than audi. Matrix leds are not a new concept and some form of it has existed from the early 2010s. Even mercedes is starting to do the fancy light dances on their new s class. And the laser lights do the same thing audi's matrix led. :/

First off, Audi and Merc offer similar technology because it is based on HELLA, that produces these MATRIX headlights. Those fancy dancing lights have already been on Audi and offer it to numerous classes, unlike Mercedes. Audi also has MATRIX Laser headlights, which is definitely far beyond anything BMW has to offer.

Matrix leds blank out part of their beams to point out road sign, prevent other drivers from being blinded, and to make shapes on the road. Mercedes does all of this with their new lighting technology on their s class. Bmw also does all of this except making shapes on the road. And I never said mercedes does all the dance lighting on all their models. And finally matrix laser lights are just matrix leds but with farther range, its not that big of a leap of laser lights and matrix leds already existed, it was just a matter of when and who would merge them.

What are you calling a "lens front light"? I promise you cadillac wasn't a first in ANY lighting tech, ever.

They are adaptive headlights. If well engineered, they do not shine into oncoming cars, cars in front of you, pedestrians, etc. The LEDS that would have lit up those spaces are turned off temporarily, but not to the surrounding areas. Essentially, you have full time high beams that never need to be turned down.

@@tanwera I get thats the idea at least on paper but in my experience this type of tech, even at the flagship levels, only really works out in the countryside or on road trips. Never in the city which is 99% of the time for me. There's just way too many factors in such a dynamic environment.

@@Director-M I agree with you that for city driving, they are not really all that useful. Most of those streets are already well lit. This technology is most useful when it is most needed; at night on unlit roads when traveling at high speeds with relatively light traffic.

They already have adaptive tint.

The light itself is intense, regardless of whether its directly in you mirror's, you've got 2 damn sun's behind you. Simply top powerful and that on its own is dangerous.
