Now this is a good piece of equipment - touch-screen, easy-to-use, and with great sounds and effects...
Powered by "Eleven", the same people who brought you all the classy guitar plugins on ProTools.
Here, I give it the once over, taking in the great sounds on offer, whether it be direct to recorder or through a conventional guitar amp!

I've had mine for 2 years and still love it. I recently purchased some high quality rigs and have re-fallen in love with it. If you buy one, purchase some professionally done rigs. It makes a huge difference.

Any suggestions? I'm looking for a good rock sound.

@@scotteisner5413 Check out Choptones. I bought their Van Halen set and like it a lot. They have a bunch of different sets and sounds.

I'd say buy some good IRs and make your own presets from scratch.

Congrats Sir, this might be the best demo of this pedalboard out there. This video displays the good and bad like no other, thanks!

Thanks for your exhaustive breakdown of this rig! Most demos aren't taking the time to go thru the more vintate/bluesy side of the Headrush, and this video definitely helps me make a decision finally.

I liked the fact that you showed how to use your own vintage fender amp with the Gigboard. Just about every other youtube channel demonstrates either the Metal sounds or chugging Metal sounds, to each, is own but that's not what I play except for maybe some early Metal. It's cool that it's there when you want it though. Hearing the different effects are pretty darn close to certain things. I recently lucked out in getting an old early 1970's Ampeg V4 head that's loud as hell. A Stones amp no doubt. You helped me out in wanting to buy this Gigboard so I can use the effects at bedroom levels lol. I will be buying one thanks for your Demo!

"More cowbell" is an American joke from Saturday Night Live about the cowbell in the Blue Oyster Cult song "Don't fear the reaper". Whether the patch sounds like BOC I dunno.

Does sound good. Was looking at a Line 6 HX Stomp which is similar. Will have to check this out. Thanks to you and your sister in law for sharing!

Down to earth review.All the other reviews I've seen have been guitar wankery masquerading as a review.Massive distortion and widdle widdle widdle kind of thing with a load of cork sniffers commenting about how much better their rigs sound.Well done Sir.This was perfect.

Great review! Is it possible - if you have a great traditional Wah pedal (Vox etc.) - to put the Wah pedal just in front of the input on the Headrush? The same way you would put the Wah in front of a few stompboxes in af simple chain? (you know: guitar-pedals-amp style :-) )

Nice to hear somebody get real about modelling. I use a Variax with this board, and the snobbery I come up against is second to none. Fact is the punters can't hear the difference between my "Strat" and my buddies American "real" Strat, when we're both playing!

Really like your demo review-I already own the gigboard (and love it) but if I didn’t I’d probably buy one on your review,,,I use my headrush gigboard with a frfr108 speaker and it’s perfect for the traveling man on the road 48 weeks a year lifestyle,,,”” God Bless,,ira

Thanks for the review- well done! I think the biggest draw for the Gigboard is that it runs the exact same software as the bigger board, so you can get "big board" sounds in a smaller package without effect limitations (like the HX Stomp). I'd like more buttons and XLR outs (and stereo fx loop), but it's hard to justify almost twice the price for that luxury in the bigger Pedalboard. As an all-in-one easy rig? This is hard to beat.

Great video Dan and delighted to have stumbled across your channel. Bought one of these last X-Mas and loved it ever since. One point though, if like me you covet the Pumpkins tone with a Big Muff do NOT put it in the FX loop.. it's horrible! in front or not at all for some reason...
@DanBakerMusic
@DanBakerMusic 4 года назад
I tend to avoid FX loops as the impedance matching is all off...

Hey such a nice video...I am trying to decide between this or the hx stomp mainly I I will use it for the amps and cabs simulation and to use some effects that I dont own ...which might be better for me ?

Thanks, Dan. Ive been looking into something like this. Seems like alot of bands and guitarists are going this route. All u need is a "box thingy" and a power amp to push it out. The tech in these modelling boxes is incredible. U can literally sound like anyone. Or shall i say sound like u r using anyones rig ? Is it worthwhile?
@DanBakerMusic

Very worthwhile... you can get sounds that are nobody else’s...

Looks great, what is the advantage over an iPad + various guitar effects apps like bias fx and midi controller pedals?

I tried a lot at the past, I bought a new I-Pad 2018 beacause my old mini2 has not enough DSP Power for Bias FX for instant switch between presets, but with the new IPad I had also some Soundissues and crashes, every IOS or APP update could solve or brings a new Problem. I like the way Bias FX works and it's fun to play around with the effekts but I would never use ist for Gigging, at my opinion ist not running stable. and you need an Interface + Footswitch and there are tons of in App Stuff to purchase, at the end of the Day it would cost the same, but the Gigboard works quite similar to Bias FX, it is a nobrainer and an all in one unit ... Power & Guitar Cable + Speaker and go (no extra Hardware needed, no BT connection for Footswitch, no softwarecrashes ect...)

I hd a long hard look at this when it first came out and so nearly pulled the pin and bought one. In the end, because I'm still happier with a real amp - and my amp has lots of MIDI-controllable functionality - I went for an HX FX instead. It's a much better MIDI controller than the Headrush products. It's a good bit of kit, though - totally agree.
@thraxas79
@thraxas79 4 года назад
I tried the HX-FX first but it made a bad hum on High-Gain Channeled Amps, after that I went to an Boss MS3 it has almost the same MIDI Funktions, now I'm using the Gigboard beacause its so much easier to use, OK MIDI on the Gigboard is a mess, but I can controll the Chanels of my Amp also by TRS. and with the Firmware 2.1 you could use Midi CC Codes to control the Gigboard, for me it means, I will keep the Boss MS3 to extend the funktions of the Gigboard, it also allows me to switch the same funktions at the floor while the Gigboard is on my desk for playing around at the touchscreen.
