Great video! Man, I was entertaining the idea of updating my multi-fx and getting the BOSS ME-90 now that it's finally available in my country, but this video is making me change my mind! So far I'd only read the name dropped in gear exchange Facebook groups. Now I can see what all that fuzz is about! (no pun intended).
Theres a few guitars in my house, and I am really thinking of getting a LP style humbucker guitar this winter, and an MX5 as our first pedal... I'm kinda thinking that the fact that it does so many effects, as well as provides a tuner, looper, etc... it should be a great value, and the user interface should be great for myself or also children. It has a tuner, looper, privides drives, as well as almost any effect i can think of, a usb interface, expression pedal, etc... and it's small enough that it can end up having other pedals added if we decide to go the route of individuals, or find a coulple specific pedals we want to add...but it can help us learn and experiment and maybe make more informed decisions when we go to get those pedals later. A Tuner, looper, and even 1 pedal, 2 if budget ones, plus some power source, and you're loking at 400$ ... This is a flexible little device...
Interesting, how much latency does the FX loop add. Because in theory, to upgrade core amp tones, you can use it as a platform for Tonex, while using all the pre/post effects of MX5. They both support MIDI, so can be setup for synced switching by the external controller. But the added loop latency may become an issue.
Yes, the latency in the loop is an issue. It about doubles the overall latency. And it's quite noticeable for me, i.e. it's greater than 10 ms. Thus, the loop is preferable for space effects. Although, you can use the HR after the Tonex without any noticeable latency. I'd recommend the Helix HX as a supplementation for the Tonex.
i forgot a important question if it is ok by you ! i know you can use at the same time diferent amps and cabs but my question is can you split them so you can hear diferent amps trough your headphone left and right?
@@DCFGuitar thank you that helped me a lot to decide to order these unit (i coulden't find this issue, btw i subscribe your channel aready , cheers and thnx again!!
I haven’t tried the gx 100 yet to be honest but I don’t think you can go wrong with either unit. The benefit of the Boss units is the super low latency…lowest of any of the modelers in fact
