This is the first episode of "Heads or Tails?" a series of videos where I'll discuss the obverse and reverse imagery of silver coins and rounds.
It's something different from what I've done in the past, so let me know if you like this video, and what silver pieces you'd like covered in the future =)
Thanks for watching!

I really appreciate the history you presented of the Sun Stone and Cuauhtemoc. I recently started stacking and did feel a little underwhelmed when I got my hands on some American Eagles. Britannias started catching my attention due to the security features but I do agree that the Sun Stone round is filled with so much design and hidden information. Also your pronunciations were pretty good 👍

I'd never heard of the concept of a pocket piece before this video, but I was toying with the idea of ordering a round to use as a ball mark since golf season is right around the corner. Good to know that this is a thing that stackers do.

Uhmmm interesting. I haven't picked out a pocket coin yet. So hard to decide.... I think I may pick out Noah's Ark for my pocket coin. Love your video and the history behind the coins. Haven't got an Aztec yet been thinking about getting some.

Very cool coin. It first came onto my radar about six months ago via Facebook ads. The price seemed high and I have seen too many scams on Facebook, so I passed. But I’d still like to have one if I knew it was legit 999 silver.

The Aztec silver is my favourite round. Is there just the one type or is it like the buffalo, made by multiple mints.

I thought the same thing about this coin, it’s also my pocket coin for about a year now, getting kinda beat up actually, who minted it?

I like the Aztec round, and i have one in a 2oz version, but wasnt that guy into human sacrifice? If i carry a pocket piece, its going to be American. Nice idea for a video series. Looking forward to more. 👍
@SmartSilverStacker
@SmartSilverStacker 3 года назад
Yeah he was definitely into human sacrifice, in order to become emperor he had to be a warrior who had captured prisoners for sacrifice. But, in his defense, it was the early 1500s. Seems like most cultures were into some pretty dark stuff around that time. The Europeans (who would go on to colonize America) at this time were burning witches and torturing people with the inquisition. So, I think in the right historical context, his story is pretty interesting. Also, my previous pocket piece was a Morgan dollar, and I like constitutional silver just fine =). I just think the calendar on this is interesting to examine from time to time.
@jackmac436
@jackmac436 2 года назад
Yeah he was into human sacrifice but the Spanish pit coals to his feet for treasure, Washington was into slavery and the Queen was into colonization so pick your flawed ruler I guess.

@@SmartSilverStacker I have a few of the 5oz Aztec Calendar rounds, they are incredible. They are priced pretty much like regular generics, but way more interesting. I just ordered (Sept '22) a tube of the 1oz rounds from MonumentMetals, right now they are $23.64, with about a one month wait. When I order a tube of silver rounds, I always get one extra, for my pocket.

It'd be more helpful if you actually linked a source and argued for its validity.
@juansolano2066
@juansolano2066 2 года назад
The cultural knowledge needs not your validity on any level. With that overstood , tlatoani doesn't mean emperor. It simply means speaker. The tonalmachiotl aka calendar is the pattern of the sun. The ritual count bka tonalpoualli is the human count , the human gestational period 260 days approximately 9 months. Human sacrifice details while beyond few actual observations didn't start till after the Spanish were chased from the city. Also thousands of years of knowledge from thousands of people across thousands of miles on this subject isn't completely available on a simple "link". It's years of dedication and a general desire to have a cultural identity. I recently bought 10 coins , your video isn't terrible , but people actually live this calendar system to this very minute.
@noneofyourneps7304
@noneofyourneps7304 2 года назад
@@juansolano2066 if that was the case you wouldn't have commented, but you did. Either way, claiming that "thousands of years of knowledge prove X" is meaningless without actually having evidence. I could claim that there are thousands of years of knowledge that predict that i will be arguing with you on youtube just as easily.
@juansolano2066
@juansolano2066 2 года назад
@@noneofyourneps7304 yes but you can't claim that ,because you don't have anything tangible to even mention. Likewise the calendar speaks for itself. If your unaware of the celestial bodies clearly indicated and known to many within the cultural knowledge and the time they represent then that's your disbelief and or inability to understand. No need to argue , your clearly not educated on this subject , no shame its specialty information rarely available on even Google. Some good videos here and there, do your own work.
