The idea that they make sounds comparable to coins clinking reminds me of the Australian crested dove. Whenever it gets startled, it flies away in such a way that it leaves a distinct "fluttering" noise to warn the others.

I can just imagine a whole flock bearing down on me with their rain of coin cries. Cutely terrifying :D

This is the first video I’ve seen by you so I don’t know most of the lore for this place but it seems worth the trip just to interact with and try and befriend the strange birds!! (Also this place is giving me Won Shi Tong’s spirt Library vibes which I am NOT mad about! That place is so cool! I love other worldly mysterious places like that! Wonderful little creatures. I love their jingling-coin communication sound. My brain REALLY wants a "heads" and "tails" to be variants or a modal shift, lol. Having magical magpies guard your treasure is a fun concept.

I also have a creature for my story that's a bird with an inanimate object for the head! It's a massive spooky emu fella (biggest one is 50 meters tall) with a clock for a head hehe

I love them they are really cute, they kinda look like pigeons or doves. It would be sweet if there were more different kinds of birds like eagle shaped or parrot so they are built for specific tasks. Maybe not always coins but treasure in general like a mirror for a face that would go blind if shattered. Or a huge stork but instead of a beak large golden scissors. Treasure birds is such a cool idea and I’m really excited to see what you do next!
