This video proves why it is important to have a dog, because a horse may communicate with you, and even understand you, but a dog will love you just as much as you care for him/her.

I found it a powerful moment when Sara and Natalie seemed to be really connected with each other later in the role play and the horse stepped in between them. It was like she noticed something about how Natalie was in that moment and offered her butt to scratch as if the horse reckoned, ok I trust this person enough to pet me. It seemed the horse was well aware of what was happening in Sara's relationship with Natalie in that moment. I was so happy to see that Natalie got something out of her encounter that seemed very special for her.

In the days after 9/11 I had been in shock, on auto-pilot. I was working out in a pasture at dusk and all the emotions caught up with me at once- horror, grief, awareness of the hate--- I dropped the shovel and cried, my hands over my face. When I stopped, I found all 5 horses standing around me in a silent circle, their muzzles a few inches away. Even the grumpy mare was present. Now, years later, I've a place where people can come heal or meditate with my own horses.

omg wow. THis is one of the most incredible things ever. It goes to show how animals communicate. They go beyond words. When we open up and there are no barriers, the animal feels free to come in. That's just incredible to me, to actually see it take place.

Animals usually respond to a positive energy. Are you usually an upbeat or outgoing person? They probably sense that they can trust you and respond to that.

Yes you are right, horses evaluate whether its safe to be around us and our posturing is information they are aware of, the best way to have a horse come over to you is by not being invested in it, when we really want them to be with us the more they will stay away because this is emotional and mental pressure. In the video Iman was already connecting with Diva from over the fence, he pointed her out at the beginning. Natalie was focused on them rejecting her, which turned around in the end.

Wow! This is very kewl... loved the work done with the woman, Natalie; it was so real and raw. I think Deepok might concur that real healing and exploring unfamilar waters and untouched areas in one's life is always uncomfortable/awkward. Right always feels wrong. Natalie REALLY did do a lot of work here, but it may have been shrouded in a cloak of uncomfortable-ness. While Iman was cozy and seemed to have instant horse connection, the "no connection" with Natalie was when the work began.

I'm more of Iman, who comes to brash and hard when meeting new people, feeling insecure and foreign to them. I miss authentic communication and this has taught me to just let go of my barriers and be peacefully centered in social situations and also being calm and have a positive attraction, similar to what he had with the horse. Thanks a lot for this series!

Amazing. I love horses and in fact I am a Horse in Chinese astrology, but they have frightened and intimadated me even tho, I used to ride them when I was younger. I think they are glorious. Learned alot here, thank you so much. Wonderful work you are doing Sara!

Thanks eebeelive, yes once you understand horses and realize they are most likely more scared of us than we are of them they can be less intimidating. They really do try to get along with people, although a lot of times they are misunderstood.

Beautiful ! I would LOVE to have a healing session with horses.Is there a link you could send me ? I rarely get to meet horses . Once a friend took me to a place where they did dressage. There were horses outside that we could meet. One of them actually 'spoke' to me in the form of a telepathic video clip. When I shared what I saw with the trainer she understood the message. Amazing.Thank you for sharing this, x

They read your body language. Animals, especially prey, have to know how to read this in order to stay alive and to know their status in a group. Also- your heart creates a field of energy a few feet beyond your body-- in your case, it's love and compassion.

Hi LaHappiOne, I wanted to respond to your comment because horses can really offer us so much and are very much misunderstood, yes they are huge and powerful but they are big scaredy cats, prey animals that get eaten, and we are predators that will potentially kill and consume them as in France, Belgium and SE Asia. The horse just needs to know its safe to be around us and when she feels safe will even ask us to be be her leader. I hope you find the courage to explore what horses can offer you.

I wouldn't say I am really outgoing... actually more introverted. One instance was really funny. It was really nice weather and I was walking with some friends in a field and there were some sheep on the other side of a small ditch and just for fun I made a sheep noise and all of them come running towards us and stood at the edge of the ditch and kept watching us hahahaha :D

@ookay11 I promise you that's not the case. Natalie and I both had an amazing journey. Every experience effected us differently. It's hard to convey what we really went through in a 8-12hour shooting day when it's whittled down to 5-10 minutes. Hope people can pull from these experiences and not turn it into a competition of who shared more or who was more genuine. It goes much deeper than that.

I wonder if this kind of therapy works with people that are used to animals and really like animals. Animals always come at once to me, even if there is a whole group of other people, animals seem to flock to me for some reason. I wonder what that means btw.

Horses are beautiful animals--most persons coming in contact stare and square off with them. The horse is thinking, "Uh, why is she staring at me...uh, she's got her hands on hips...is she admonishing me,,,she's still staring..dammit, I think I'll walk away. Now watch Iman--he doesn't stare, but talks to Ms. Fancy and horse approaches. Rapport begins among people/horses with not feeling threatened? When he does square, it pushes him back. What would you do in a bar if a guy kept staring at you?

So you think animals are attracted to "my energy"? But the funny thing is they even come when I don't want them to, for example if I'm wearing "nice clothes" and I DO NOT want any dog slobber/cat hairs on me/my clothes, they will stay come to me and rub on my legs or even jump on me... :-S I also saw your other comment here that you now heal people with your own horses. I was wondering why some horses never listen to other people except for only one/a few person(s). Maybe you can tell me that.

Animals can be so sensitive to things of which we're less aware. I prefer small animals, but we can learn about ourselves by our own reactions to any animals. I think Iman's horse related to him so well, in part because of his humor. Or maybe she's just an Obama supporter! I was a bit surprised with the distance Natalie and her horse had, because she's shown so much emotional awareness in previous days. I understand, maybe she didn't accept herself enough, given her incredibly demanding goals.

No, not one where you give the animal space, time and freedom to approach, usually you just start feeding it without taking any of this into consideration. We have much to learn and to grow when it comes to empathy, compassion and understanding with other species and forms of life.
