Healing with the Three of Swords x 

I really agree with your take. I used to think of this card as "heartbreak" and it really freaked me out. Something that first changed my perception is the way the creators of the Motherpeace tarot describe this card. They say it represents "an emotional drama created by the mind" (which can include stress and anxiety, as you mention). I also think of it as an emotional drama we need to work though, or heal from, in order to get to the next level of our development. Part of it is uprooting those mental dramas our ego creates that aren't "real." Another thing that changed my perception is the depiction of this card in the Temptress tarot, an indie deck you can find on Etsy. The card depicts the swords going through the heart, but the swords are dripping blood, and there is a woman at the bottom catching the blood on her tongue as it falls (it sounds gruesome, but it's really not). So, the pain is also giving her the remedy to heal and to get to the next level.

This is a really interesting take on the three of swords. It's almost as if you're suggesting that a person fully feel their pain, which is such a useful suggestion to make! When I path worked this card, it spoke to me of hateful speech: cunning, offensive words meant to harm. I always saw it as a warning to the self--be mindful of your reactions. Take notice of how your words affect others, and how others' words affect you. 🗡⚔❤️!

I just wrote a page on the 3 of swords for my upcoming book. After really studying the card and sitting with it, my biggest takeaway was the need for self-love and healing. Then funny enough, this video pops up two days later to confirm my summation! Thank you 😁

I see the rain as a symbol of cleansing. The pain is necessary as it sharpens our resolve. To die and be born again.

The Three of Swords always makes me think of CBT, which is all about how our thoughts and emotions are so closely linked and influence each other... that when we have negative thoughts, it creates some really nasty emotions which can feel so visceral and overwhelming.. and then how we interpret those emotions feeds the cycle. Like thoughts of stress leads to feelings of anxiety and panic, and we often interpret those feelings as proof of how stressful our situation is, or that we are incapable of handling our situation, leading of course to more anxiety! So the Three of Swords usually reminds me that I need to check in with that cycle and to alter my thoughts which will, in turn, begin to alter my emotional experience. And there is a great deal of empowerment hidden in that :)

Hello! Lately I've been thinking about my relationship with my parents. In this journey I'm revisiting my past, my history. Some days ago I asked for an advice about my relationship with my mother. I was trying to find ways to reconcile myself to her, but everything I tried ended up in a mess. So, when I got this card I figured out that I needed to stop "trying" things, because there are many ways we can heal our relationships, and your video helped me to understand more about the three of swords. After reading some texts about this card, the message that I could get from all of them was that this is not the moment to act or to search for help from the world outside. If there is any strategy here is to accept the moment and do not try to fix it at least for now. In the spiritual path, it's becoming clear to me that acceptance is the first step of everything. Another thing I could realize is that the sword in the middle represents balance. So, this card tells us about detachment, let go of the situation, which helps us to see the situation from other angles (swords - mental). What do you think about it, in this context? As an air sign, I was always stuck with this card, to me the heartbreak made no sense whatsoever. So thank you Vix and Katey for giving me an angle that I can associate with the card.

I drew it as an advice for a friend who is breaking up. So, I needed to take the positive out of it. I would add that it means choosing logic over emotions (this story could have never worked 5000km apart and no money, not really knowing her for more than 2 months!). One is easily carried away by the heart because we idealize love from movies and songs. Be realistic and put that energy into creating something new. Thoughts, strategies, all that sword energy.

I love that this came up! I recently pulled this card in response to analyzing a very intense dream I had. When I see the three of swords usually I see my own past heart break and the lingering mental pain caused by that "what if I had been like this, done this differently, what if he was more like..", more as a stain of a memory, a time that I can't forget. But it also makes me assess my life now, where I am at, how my patterns of thinking at affecting my moods and what I can do to change it. It's a card that encourages me to assess what I'm experiencing mentally and then see if I need to practice some acts of self care to adjust that harmful mindset which is maybe just dwelling in painful memories of past hurts..

I use the Thoth deck (talk about not wanting that card to show up in your reading!) and I’ve always thought it as the sorrow you have put on yourself; the sorrow in which you allows someone else’s words, actions, or behaviour to have on you and your quality of life. Never would I have put the word healing on it and it’s changing how this card is showing up for me now.

I see the Three of Swords as disturbing thoughts interfering with the state of the heart, in the card literally piercing through it, affecting its natural peace. Hence the heartbreak. And definitely this a card that calls for healing for there is work to be done in going back to the heart and reflecting on the source of those thoughts. It's a beautiful card! Aren't they all, ultimately? :)

Thiis card came up in my reading this morning.....my thoughts on this card are breaking your own heart with your thoughts.....I'm a newbie to Tarot, so I don't really know, but it's what I think :)

I asked if my dad was going to be ok with his upcoming surgeries and recent health issues. When I saw this card I was like ok makes sense I am 1 out of 3 daughters. But also reading up on the card and seeing the meaning in my book I have and online had me a little scared. But when you said healing, it made me feel so much better.

Yes! I like to 'thank the messenger' when swords come up (you know the 3,5,7,8,9,10) because there is so much information in my mind, some below the surface, that it is helpful to know about the lurking shadows. One tarot spread does not a life make. Breathe, listen to calming music, go somewhere in nature, clear your mind. Three days later-deal the cards again.

This came up in reverse for me in the "truth" position. I don't normally do my own cards but I needed answers. It's only left me at a more confusing place. I like your videos about freakin cards :) I'm a beginner in tarot. It's fun to have another point of view. The Connoly tarot is it a good tarot for a «green», a beginner?

Personally, I take a very simplistic view of what cards mean and for me, when I think of the three of swords, I think of the way the card is shown in the Mystical Cats Tarot, with cats on a wall pushing vases and stuff off the wall onto the street below. So I always read it in the most basic way, which is quite frankly that shit has hit the fan and now things are falling apart, raining down, etc. I know this sounds a bit more like the Tower card, but I actually am pretty comfortable with reading the Tower card as a cleansing that's coming, whether I like it or not. It has a purpose. The Three of Swords is just needless destruction.

So this is an old video, but I've been confronting the "scary cards" in my 2019 yearly reading, month by month. So my cards for February, March, April, and May were 10 of Swords, The Tower, 3 of Swords, and Death. And, of course, I got scared to death, because I figured a lot of BAD stuff was going to happen. However, all of them ended up heralding huge changes for me in a good direction. The 10 of Swords ended up being the end of me being single as a lover who spurned me returned and wanted to fix things with me. The Tower so far has been a "blowing up" of what I knew with him as he's been completely honest with me and revealed things to me that I didn't realize regarding why he left me before. Everything has been going well with him, and it's as if all the scary stuff I've been expecting has been, in reality, things that have been comforting and necessary to move on. Of course, my April card is 3 of Swords, and I feel that its energy will be more likely about us stressing over what our next step will be (especially since when I asked what situation was going to bring the 3 of Swords and got Emperor, 10 of Cups, and the Moon - which says the whole "home" situation between us has me confused or uncertain). And Death as the following seems to be a jump into the unknown and leaving behind everything before.
