I’m a corporate Rev Cycle Manager, and I agree. It’s the BEST. I’ve been in the field for 22 years and in management for 15. I still love it. If you are trying to get your foot in the door with little or no experience or school, try to find a payment posting or patient access job in a LARGE healthcare provider or RCM company and work your way up. You can always get certified later to start making more money. Healthcare is a job that offers job security, and you get to help people. What more can you ask for? I will say, if you don’t love numbers or problem solving, this isn’t for you. If you love money AND analyzing and solving problems…. You’ll love RCM.
@@MsLove2Inspire No. There are certifications you can get. My certification is through the HFMA, and I just bought the manual and studied at home for 6 months then took the test. Although you will get higher paying positions more easily with a college degree, they aren’t always required. I don’t have a degree and have held positions up through Senior Management, because I was certified and had work experience.
@@ebbzexclusives Absolutely. That’s where I started. Billing or collections (claims follow up, not collecting from patients directly) are both really good places to start and grow your experience.
Thanks for the breakdown. My current job is Revenue Cycle Rep and couldn’t actually explain what I do lol. But I’ve been doing A/R for the last 6 years. Now I’m graduating with my Associates in Health Services Management.
I'm currently learning about health information systems and revenue cycle management right now, and coming back to this video was pretty helpful! Thank you!
This was a great video! I’m currently an A/R specialist. I’d love to see a video that discusses the next tier opportunities you can get into after entry level within this field ❤️
Really clear, concise, and to-the-point relevant information. I am new to healthcare and your extensive work experience really gave me a good overview of the US healthcare systems and related terminologies. Thank you so very much dear Courtney and may you stay blessed!
I am teaching various programs here in Calgary Alberta Canada to adult learners on business topics A to Z in Health Management and Leadership Program. In HIM we are taking this cycle and this video was awesome in explaining this cycle to my students rather than the listen to the lecturer off notes slides. You were our awesome guest speaker courtney!!!
Hi Ron, WOW! What an honor!! I'm so glad to hear that you were able to use my content in your classroom. I am extremely flattered. Thank you so much for having me :)
That was a great and engaging breakdown in laymen's terms for those who are interested in how the process works! Definitely can also help those who are interested in RCM figure out an interest point for entry level!
Thank you! I struggled with keeping it simple! Lol Thank you for offering your time and knowledge! We appreciate that 🤗 Please let everyone know how they can contact you.
@@CourtneySharea Well you did an amazing job! Oh girl, I meant YOUR video can help with those figuring out where to start in RCM. lol. I guess I worded that funny. I am a Healthcare Administrator and Consultant myself, I've been thinking about youtube as an outlet. You do an amazing job educating in an engaging manner and make it look so easy.
I just called about a job posting. I was asked if I have worked in RCM. I had no idea how to answer because Revenue Cycle Management sounded intimidating. I’ve been doing this for the past four years. 🤦🏻♀️I feel so dumb. The people I’ve been working for just don’t bother explaining why I’ve been what I’ve been doing. I just been learning on my own so I’m intimidated by even applying for other jobs. Thank God I have an interview on Friday.
This information was so helpful, thank you! the only thing holding me back from getting my bachelors degree is having to have student loans, currently working and saving for tuition
Im at a stand still with my career. I am currently a coding assistant and cannot pass the cpc exam to save my life. I have experience in revenue cycle so I wanted to switch my focus
Hi courtney ,this video was really really helpful can you please also guide and make a video on how to prepare resume for RCM-PP analyst jobs please!!!
I love your video’s. I been applying for jobs as Revenue Cycle Management, but I keep getting turn down. I have been in the healthcare field over 5years. I have worked as medical front office receptionist and done medical records. When it comes to education I have my medical assistant diploma and I just received my bachelor in healthcare administration. I just don’t know where to start. Guidance Please!
Is comprehensive coding & revenue integrity specialist the same thing as this? I seen this on my school website and i started researching on Yt and your video came up
Hi Courtney, do you recommend the HFMA CRCR (Certified Revenue Cycle Representative) certification for those interested in pursuing a career in RCM? I currently have a BA in Business Admin and MHA. Completing a fellowship
Hello! I would like to become a clinic director but don’t have enough financial experience. I meet all of the qualifications but this aspect. Can you go over financial interview questions and step by step budget preparation for healthcare administrators?
When are you going live again ? I have several questions, I am working on mba in hrm however im interested in healthcare administration. I’m worry about working in the wrong masters program but, everyone I know says I’m fine. I need to get your professional advice.
Hi Emma! I probably won’t go live again until the end of August. If you need a 1:1 in depth convo you can schedule some time with me. calendly.com/courtneysharea/
Hello there, I have my first client and I don’t know how to break down the costs? He wants me to handle claims submit, AR management, payment posting etc. I just don’t know how to break down the cost.
Hello, great video. Question 🙋♀️ I’m a certified professional coder with 7 years of coding experience but I don’t know billing, can I do this revenue cycle job?
Do you have to be a medical coder or have a medical coding degree to be Revenue Cycle Analyst entry level? What are the steps to getting into the job without HIM, Medical Coding, or IT degree? I do have a Bachelors in Business Administration that I obtained very recently but I have been a clinician for 10 years. Im a healthcare worker in short but would like to get into business side. Thanks in advance.
Hello so I’ve worked in registration and am looking to move to the next step-could you give your recommendation on whether. Would be better to go into a payment posting or a billing and follow up (following up with claims that have been denied etc) next ? What would be the next step for growth after working in either of those positions?
@@CourtneySharea we don't have any advisors honestly, we dont get that exposure or liberty to choose. I really love healthcare but I lack of guidances. And it really hurts.
I have a question, does manage care Medicare roll back follow the same rules as Medicare? If you could send me the information or direct me to the correct website where I could zone in on this exact information for billing, I would appreciate your assistance. Thank you.
@@Sparkle-ey7iw I’m also interested in an analyst role. I’m a certified medical coder with years of experience as well as some billing. I’m having a hard time transitioning into another area. Very discouraging. I also have 4 year degree in Business Admin. Would love to know what I’m doing wrong. Constantly turned down for promotions. Great reviews… Any suggestions?
Hi Stephanie! It sounds like you may need to update your resume and start applying at other companies. If you're interested in discussing this in further detail along with a resumé review, click the below like to schedule a 1:1 session. calendly.com/courtneysharea
Hi Courtney, I am currently working in Revenue Cycle Management and hate it :( it is definitely not a good fit. I have 10+ years in claims processing for an insurance company but this is TOTALLY different. I want to put my experience to use but I don't know what job to look for. I am looking for remote work with minimal/no phone work due to health/medical reasons. Any suggestions?
Great video. I want to go into Revenue cycle management/ consultant. I am about to begin my BS in business admin and have three years experience as an appeals & grievance coordinator for UHC. What are some entry level jobs that I should look into that will give me an advantage on my resume?
