Johanna Larson: I want to relate what happened to me and how the Lord spoke to me once that helped me. My wife and were living in this house that had some tall flowering roses that were planted years before. We were renting so I didn't plant them. I would go into the back yard to pray and talk with the Lord a lot but one day I noticed something unusual. Our roses had already bloomed and fell off a month earlier. Yet, there was one rose plant that had this huge beautiful rose that was blooming all by itself. I said Lord that's peculiar, that single rose shouldn't be blooming now. The Lord said, yes it is a late bloomer. Then I heard the Lord say to me that flower is like you. You're a late bloomer. You always took longer to come around than everyone else, but that's alright because some plants take longer and have a longer growing time and season. So don't worry because you'll bloom when its your time to bloom. I told that true story to remind you to relax and just let the Lord speak to you the way you can receive it and in His time. You're trying too hard. He will speak and it will be different than you think. God spoke to Moses in a burning bush in the backside of the desert (You may remember that story in the Bible.) The Lord communicates to us in all kinds of ways. I can tell you of many times that the Lord spoke to me, but it was in ways I wasn't expecting. Just be open and it will come.

The Bible isn't God, it's a tool to learn about God so that we can literally tangibly commune with Him in intimacy and love. YHWH is a real entity and person(age). Yes but it is not the only avenue...God speaks through the Bible by way of the Holy Spirit teaching us - it is the Holy Spirit's job to lead you into all truth, the Holy Spirit speaks direct by bringing thoughts to your mind, through a prophecy perhaps or a word of knowledge or dreams, through circumstance, through a stranger or family member saying something to us, an angel, and even a donkey or cockerill if need be! The Holy Spirit will bear witness to Truth and confirm it is God when it comes regardless of how.

You don't go straight to application until you know the context of the message itself. From there you make application to us now. Any one who knows anything about Bible study knows that John14:1-3 was and is part of what is called the upper room discourses. Do some background study, don't remain ignorant of Scripture. It is good to read the Bible, but if you never go beyond that than you will twist the message and read into you own 21st century ideas of what it means. After all the Bible is an ancient book and certain things about it should be understood before understanding its message

I’ve been taught that very principle to first understand who the original audience was, the context and all of that, before I consider its personal application. Jesus did It with the Samaritan woman.(John 4,1-42). We just follow the master. God had always use prophets to talk to his people (globally and personally) Prophets are everywhere in the bible (even in "non-prophetic" books). The book ofJoel tells us about times when a lot of people will hear God's voice. (Joel 2,28) I think we have to check the fruits to know if it's from God or not. Paul says in 1 Corinthians 14:3: "But he who prophesies speaks to men for their edification, encouragement, and comfort." It is not divination, It's God speaking really personally to encourage or correct His child. PS: Sorry for my english

The whole Bible is one big Revelation, vision, and prophecy. No carnal or sense knowledge, but revelation by the Spirit. This sort of thing when it is done harms people and even causes non-believers in Christ to turn away from the things of God thinking that everyone is like that. I went to his conference here in London last summer which was incredibly expensive and impossible to sit through the whole event. My wife attended one session and left after an hour never to return to the conference. All I saw was the same old same old . I have asked the Shawn Bolz ministries for clarification on whether he uses hot or cold reading techniques and have not had a reply. Why should we Christians accept our "prophets" without scrutinising them? I will only accept Mr Bolz,s claims if he submits himself to be tested in a clinical environment without any internet connected devices with people he does not know. I see where you’re coming from, but I also don’t believe God would want us to publicly call people out and put their sins or issues on display. The Bible says their is no condemnation in Christ, so we have no right to pass judgement on people. Religion always makes it seem like you’ll be punished for your sins but Jesus didn’t die on the cross to condemn us. In the NT prophecy is designed to encourage, upbuild, and console (1 Corinthians 14:3). Prophecy designed to call out sin is no longer needed because Jesus said He would send the Spirit. And it's the Spirit's role to convict of sin (John 16:8). Without the indwelling Spirit in the OT something external was needed to point out sin. In the NT with the indwelling Spirit, He takes over that role.

Mark 8- Jesus is speaking to the unbelieving Pharisees who would not believe the miracles of the Son of God. This has nothing to do with believing in miracles men perform these days... So, include the explanation. "Hear then the parable of the sower. If you continue to read Matthew 13, you will see that Jesus is speaking about the Word of the Kingdom of heaven, speaking about believing the Scriptures, Jesus, who is the Word.
