Here in Philippines whenever you hear the national anthem, you should stop what your doing stand straight put your right hand on your chest just over your heart and look in the direction of the nearest flag. It's a law if you don't follow you can get arrested, this is our way of paying respect for our fallen heroes who fought for the Philippine liberation.
When I was in Highschool, If a student came late after the flag ceremony he/she will sing alone infront of the flag pole and sing the Philippine National anthem and recite panatang makabayan. Have you experienced it too people of the philippines?
For me, the most striking lines are the last 2 lines of our National Anthem: "Aming ligaya na pag may mang-aapi; ang mamatay ng dahil sa iyo..." Meaning: "When there are oppressors; we are happy (joyful) to die because of you...". And it is very ironic, that Pilipinos singing this spanish version: metioning valor, heroism, tyrant, oppressors, liberty etc. in front of the AMERICANS!!! HAHAHA!!!
Sujy, it's the same in the Philippines. The left hand is "less honorable" than the right hand because of the "reason" that you mentioned. So, we civilians use the "right hand over the heart" when singing the National Anthem, while uniformed personnel (e.g., soldiers, police, scouts) use the "right hand salute".
The music of the anthem was composed in 1898 by Julian Felipe, and the lyrics of the anthem were adapted from the Spanish poem "Filipinas", which is wrritten by Jose Palma in 1899. These years are also the times just right after the Philippine Revolution against Spanish rule, occupation, and colonialism, and just before and after the declaration of Philippine Independence from Spain, as well just before the beginning of and during the First Philippine Republic. But why is the lyrics in Spanish though, if Spain already left or were defeated during those times? It is because Spanish was still the official language of the Philippines back then during those times. The Spanish language is even still one of the official languages of the Philippines even during the American occupation of the Philippines, alongside English, even before the national language based on Tagalog language existed. That's what I knew based on my limited historical knowledge and basic historical information searching skills.
Additional information about our National Anthem: The First Stanza and Second Stanza, the instrumental music is similar with the Himno Réal of the Spain. The Last Stanzas of the Anthem is based on the Opening Music or instrumental of the La Marseilles of France.
Thank you max and sujy for reacting spanish american and talgalog PHILIPPINE ANTHEM because we will celebrate 122nd anniversary of independence day on JUNE 12th friday❤🇵🇭 MABUHAY💪❤🇵🇭
The music of the Philippine national anthem was inspired by the Marcha Real or the current Spanish national anthem of Spain, by the La Marseillaise or the national anthem of France, and by the music called Grand March of Gluseppe Verdi's Aida...
Thanks for reacting to our National Anthem. We used our right hand because it is proper way to sing Lupang Hinirang. The Tagalog version is based on Spanish Version.
This is better unlike others they speak english but sometimes they forget to speak there provinces dialect or even tagalog Filipino dialects are a bit of dying now because others mostly learns other countries language than there own dialects
please react to the Philippine national anthem titled "Lupang Hinirang by GMA 7". You can see the history of the Philippines while hearing the national anthem. It's so epic.
Most Filipino people will say that the current codified version of the Philippine national anthem in Filipino national language (or the current/present Tagalog version) is the most beautiful, because it is in our national language/lingua franca/common native language, and we have an obvious nationalistic and patriotic bias for our own national language compared to other languages like English or Spanish, and it is also sung beautifully by a choir in that particular video.
...and also by the anthem of Spain. I learned it from a video of a RU-vidr named Kirby Araullo who makes videos about Philippine history and culture. I also learned there that accordingly the original poem where the lyrics of the national anthem is based from, is written in Kapampangan language before it had the official Spanish version during the Spanish colonial period.
We Filipinos use our right hands while singing our national anthem because its placed by your chest were your heart is located so you can feel your heartbeat while singing the song💕
Its so funny hahaha to us that this thai girl said which hand do use pooping" hahah... In the Philippine right handed we put in our heart because every we sung our anthem we sung with the heart and honored.
I am Filipina I use my right hand to put it on my left chest when singing the Phil anthem . I am right handed and so I hold any equipment with my right hand and use my left hand to scrub dirt. 🤣🤣🤣
In Philippines the rules are 1.all national rules 2.if somone raise flag and sing anthem put your hand in chest heart no ignore 3.Mothers no hurting childs 4.Only text allowed in house but you can when emergencies or plans 5.some restaurant are only hand using when eating and more
From what I know you shall stop anything you do when you hear the anthem others can move but without noise, stand straight look at the flag and face body on the pole, place your palm on your heart and sing the anthem gracefully. Also same when prayers play in 12noon and 3 pm you must stop and bell rings at 6 am, 12 noon, 3 pm and 6 pm.
I know what Sujy is pertaining to with her using the left hand to clean after pooping, I think it is common for South East Asian Countries. So we use the right hand for our National Anthem and another reason for us Filipinos is that we use our right hand to place it just over our chest where our Heart is.
I'm a Filipino from the Philippine. Filipino language are very different from Thai. Because thai is similar in chinese.. and we in philippine are not colonize by chinese. Filipino was similarities in spaniards because of we are meztisos.
We Filipinos use the right hand to put it to our cheast where the heart is located, because if you use the left hand it would be so difficult to put your hand to your cheast.
@@thwb4661 The original official Spanish version of the Philippine national anthem is accordingly just a Spanish version of a patriotic poem in Kapampangan language. The one who wrote the lyrics of the Spanish version is accordingly a friend of the poet who wrote the original version of the lyrics of the anthem in Kapampangan language. I learned these things from a RU-vidr named Kirby Araullo in one of his recent videos from his channel. He makes videos about Philippine history and culture, and also focuses on Kapampangan history and culture too, 'cause he is a Kapampangan.
Yeah. They are "versions" of the lyrics of the national anthem in different languages, and not necessarily "translations" of the lyrics of the anthem in different languages. It is because it is really hard to do a literal or even a conceptual line by line translation of the lyrics into a different language, without sacrificing the lyrics' meter or syllabication, rhythm, timing with the music, and rhyme. If translating a prose is difficult, it is much more difficult to translate a poem.
I think the main reason the English one is bad audio is the Spanish one would have been sang later on sense recording sound was only like 40 years old sense the original anthem so it wouldn’t have been recorded but by the time america was in power it would have been long enough sense then for them to record and the sound back then was not that clear
Max, only right hand we'd used put in the chest where is your heart located. This is one i've notice max hope so you'll not offended. I've noticed you cannot pronounce the letter "H" sound. But i love you guys. Thank you for always for making reaction in the philippines.

I know a person that got arrested for not stopping his vehicle while the National Anthem was Playing. while the other cars stop he still continued. when the anthem ended the police officer chased him.
Hi Max ang Suji. Could you pls react to 2019 opening ceremony of Sea Games. Various traditional ang cultural dance had been showcased by Filipino Dancers ang Singers. It was nearly 2 hrs. Show. Thanks Godbless the two of you always.
That's a nice idea. I wish they will react to that, especially to the full video of the opening ceremony, and most especially to the first parts where the evolution and diversity of traditional dances, music, and clothing of the Philippines were showcased and presented (the parts after the national anthem and before the parade of athletes)...
Its nice to see you to reacting! I love Thailand! Hope to go their soon but my problem is that there is no subtitles how can I understand thai? LOL jk Keep safe!

Not becaous that you are right handed that you are putting your hand above your right chest . The reason and the truth is our right hand must touch our heart to obey execute and defend the state coming from the inner most of our body which is our heart.
The Philippine National Anthem is supposed to be a "march" thus the Spanish arrangement version recorded here is not the proper way it should be sung, the English version arrangement as recorded should be a bit slower and the Tagalog version is just but proper although at present, it tends to be faster as played by brass bands.
The original is spanish version. Then translate english to Filipino language tagalog. 4/4 then marching hymn. (Fyi) don’t flip upside down the blue one if the red is on the top the Philippines is at WAR.
The original official national anthem of the Philippines is the Spanish version, but the lyrics of the Spanish version accordingly is just a version in Spansih of a patriotic poem in Kapampangan language. I learned this from one of the recent videos of a RU-vidr named Kirby Araullo, and he makes videos about Philippine history and culture while also focusing on Kapampangan history and culture, 'cause he is a Kapampangan.
If you hear the national anthem of the Philippines and there is no flag raising you can continue what you are doing but it is more respectful if you stop what you are doing and put your right hand in your chest and stand up straight but if there is a flag raising and you hear the national anthem look straight to the nearest flag you see standup straight hand on your chest you can get arrested if you do not do this when there is a flag raising
If you are a foreigner reacting to our Philippine national anthem in a reaction video, I guess that just staying still while sitting (or while standing, which is much better), not talking or making noise while the anthem is playing, looking straight into the flag on the screen, not dancing or moving with the anthem's music, and not making other movements and noise are all fine to do. I just guess, for I am not sure how one person (a Filipino or a foreigner) should act and do, according to our law, when watching or listening to a video or music of our national anthem on RU-vid, or on TV or radio, or from other devices and gadgets. I am only familiar with how to act and what to do when our anthem is played during a program, school activity, event, in cinema, or in flag raising and flag retreating ceremonies. :)
@@thwb4661 Haven't you read and understood well my comment's meaning and intention? I am sorry if I confused you with my comment for not being clear enough.
Why mostly using right hand while singing national anthem of their country? here in the philipphine we put right hand on the left chest because are heart is in the right chest side
Only the bravest singers attempt to sing the National Anthem because if you sang it wrong, they can be sued. There is specific tempo and rhythm to the song that should be followed always. You cannot add style such as belting.
Trivia: The Philippine National Anthem was influenced by Spain and France National Anthem respectively. Himno Réal of Spain and La Marseilles of France
