Question of the Day: Have you tried the Mimi hearing app and are the results consistent with your last audiogram from your provider? Let’s connect in the comments below! ★ FREE eBook ★ “How To Buy Hearing Aids” profithearing.com/ebook/

I used Mimi to adjust my AirPod Pros and they do sound better. I now use transparency mode while watching TV at a lower level. I don’t have copies of my previous printed audiograms, but I believe it is probably similar. I have persistent tinnitus and a falloff in the mid to high range after working on and near running jets for 32 years. They aren’t medical devices, but it’s a great way to customize your AirPods.

Happy to hear the features available with the AirPods Pro are working well when watching TV. Obtaining a current audiogram from an audiologist will provide an opportunity to determine the best treatment options for tinnitus and your specific hearing loss. Thanks so much for the comment and for watching!

How interesting. It would be a great screening tool to determine if you need to take the next step and see your audiologist.

Yes, it's a promising technology. However, diagnostic testing should be completed by an audiologist.

@@ProFitHearing I can see it being used in rural areas where you have to drive 30+ miles to see an audiologist (like me), who is only in the area once a week (like ours), only to find out you are fine and just spent 2 hours of your life that might have been saved if you had this screening tool.

It definitely is an easy app to screen your hearing. However, this technology doesn't replace seeing a professional. Thank you for watching and commenting!

Sometimes I do not hear the sound, and the application, tells me an error message. What do I do, press it for a sec, and move on?

I tried the app, and it said my hearing is normal in both ears. This is possible because I have menieres so it fluctuates. I don’t have access to my official audiograms to compare, but it does show my right ear is slightly worse, which is the ear I have issues with. There’s no discernible difference between the custom and standard audio samples, but I had to slide ambient noise reduction all the way to the right because it was staticky. I have always had problems hearing in crowds or noisy areas (e.g. restaurants with music playing in the background) even when I’m not having a menieres episode. When I have an episode, I lose the ability to hear high frequencies in my right ear, so I will try doing a test and applying that audiogram whenever that happens. I will also take a new test at my doctor’s office to compare.

Glad to hear the app is helpful and that you'll have a new audiogram from your doctor's office to compare to. iOS 15 now has the option to enter your audiogram directly. Here's a video for more info: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-HmMfSRtk6EA.html. Thanks for the comment and for watching!

A difficult app to use as the test doesn’t alert me when it starts testing at a new frequency. Mimi audiogram same general shape as my audiologist’s audiogram (ok at low frequencies, steady increasing loss from 4K upwards), Mimi db values for 4K and higher freqs larger, right ear loss larger than left which is reverse of what was on my audi’s audiogram. Used BOSE QC25 headphones for Mimi test with ANC turned off.

Thanks for sharing your experience with the Mimi hearing app. I agree that seeing an audiologist is still required for accurate diagnosis of hearing loss. However, the Mimi hearing app does appear to be a useful app to screen hearing. It will be interesting to see how this technology develops. Thank you for watching!

Had some problems with this app. It says to press and hold button when you first hear a sound or tone and release when you can no longer hear it. This normally works fine except there are some sounds where I never hear an initial sound. While waiting for the initial sound the program finally gives up and indicates something wrong and asks to start over. What I do if I never hear an initial sound starting, I just tap twice after about 3 seconds. It get me through and with Audiogram results that do improve my hearing somewhat ...Airpod Pros.

If you have concerns about your hearing, please consult with your local physician or audiologist. iOS 15 now allows you to enter an audiogram from your provider to use with the headphone accommodations feature. iOS 15 video here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-HmMfSRtk6EA.html.
