I love this movie. This was actually the first anime movie I got my Mom to watch. We watched on Mother's day. She loved it, even my Dad stayed awake during it lol The emotions portrayed are so heartwarming and heart wrenching at same time. Just love it.

An interesting fact that I've learned on NHK World during a half hour documentary is that there is a home in Japan that this film was based off of; and the owners actually allow people to come and visit.

if you liked this movie then i'd definitely recommend checking out The Girl Who Leapt Through Time & Summer Wars! They were made by the same people (among some other movies too :))

This is my 2nd favourite movie after A Silent Voice. Thanks for reacting to it. My mom raised me as a single mom so even she liked the movie a lot

*THIS FILM NEEDS A LEGACY SEQUEL!!* (set over 20 years after the original) Where we see a grown up Yuki and Ame both go on to raise their own child and how the paths they took influence how they raise them. The cousins end up crossing paths and through each other they learn about their other half that was kept hidden from them. The sequel should be told from the cousins point of view (particularly Yuki's child) to make the film stand-alone from the original. Mamoru Hosoda already did a sequel already, The Girl who Leapt Through Time (which was a stand-alone sequel to the original novel).
