Was watching Indiana Jones tonight with my 9 year old, when I suddenly had a flash of this game in my head. Took me awhile to remember enough about it to search it out on google. Glad there’s channels like this one to allow us older guys a chance at nostalgia.

Those boxes were so intriguing. Expensive and no youtube so you kind of imagined what the games could be like. Had rise of the dragon, loved it.

This was one of the few games I played all the way through. On my first PC which happened to be a generic laptop with the tiniest amount of RAM

I feel I missed out. Rise of the Dragon and Willy Beamish were among my very favorite games as a kid, so how on earth I never played this one is a mystery.

I remember playing this game on the Amiga, getting part way through to find out that I was missing a disk. WHSmith were having none of it and refused to help me out.

My mate used to sweep floors in Smiths, he probably half inched the disc and sold it to a schoolkid as a full game the scamp!

Great retro review of game. I meet this game back to my college days, but I never finish any adventure games, and soon I became addicted to Dynamix and other company's fly simulation games. Just because my retro collection of Roland MT-32 and meet this game again, maybe I should get complete walkthough this time ^&^ The BGM on MT-32 is really good.

Sierra adventure games always pass me by. I might give this guy a go in the future. Love the Mk IV tank sequence, very Last Crusade!

I really liked Rise of the Dragon on the Amiga back then and its clearly visible how much (game-engine but also the whole style) these two games have in common . This review was super interesting and fun to watch, thanks! LOL at 3:32 ;)

+RetroManCave, great review. Thought you would be interested to know that Dynamix did actually produce at least one other Adventure game in the form of Space Quest V. Don't take that as a correction though, it was built in SCI and the design team were headed up by Sierra folk including One of the Guys from Andromeda. EDIT and Rama which I hadn't heard of until a year or two ago

was it ever explained why they stopped making adventure games after sq 5? i hear they made sq 5 as a test to see if they could make more games in the sci engine as ken willaims wanted them to use theirs as opposed to the one dynamex made.

Fond memories of this game. I don't think I ever finished it, but it was a very pretty game back in the day. Thanks for this video!

If anyone wants to try this, you can play this game for free on Archive.org in your browser. I loved this (and Willy Beamish) back in the day. I was fairly obsessed by this game, imagining the future when a game like this might be, gasp, fully voiced. Yeah, that was my imagining of future games, more dialogue. Oh if young me knew how far we'd have actually come. Young me would be amazed I'd somehow end up, 25 years later, actually living in Hong Kong rather than it just being a location in an adventure game. That tank sequence looks so naff now, but it really was a “holy shit” moment when that came up.

+Megatron2013 nice! The resolution of the graphics will look a bit drab on modern PCs but still a fun game

Just don't play the game in order to learn anything about the world, because it gets a number of things laughably wrong. Snow is about as common in Kathmandu as it is in San Francisco, Istanbul was never ruled by a nabob or had a camel market, and the currency used in Turkey is the lira, not the shekel.
