Thank you ... your are the first person from the begining that teached mig to sew .. I needed it when I had cancer och was treated for that. Now I sew a lot of things och give away .. THANK YOU !!
I was sew happy to be reminded about this method. Have not done it since high school- 45 years ago. When did I get so old...Made a mug rug and had sew fun much fun doing to. Thank you.
Thank you so much for this great tutorial! I especially appreciated you instructions on hand stitching the binding🤩. I don’t believe I’ve ever been taught the proper technique for this so consequently have always done it my machine🥴 I’m anxious to give it a try by hand on a small project! Thanks again🤗
I made both, The sewing machine cover and the mat this weekend. I made my mat a little larger so my machine doesn't cover up all the Hard work that went into making the hearts. Everything came out so pretty. I was going to share a photo with you Debbie, but I guess you can not do that here. Thanks again for the great instructions! Cheers
I love this idea and your work, Debbie you are just so good at what you do. Will make a few for my machines when I recover from surgery. Left arm isn't working right now. 🤣 Thanks for all your teachings. ❤️
Wow! I thoroughly enjoyed this sewing tutorial! And that sewing project is exactly what I needed for my sewing machine! I will applique the hearts because I just might ruin the work the cutout way, as I'm not good at sewing yet! That's not to say that I won't attempt it some time in the near future! Thank you very much for this really great video! I'm so excited and just can't wait to make the mat!
Your teaching is so wonderfully explained-But your finished project is too cute to hide under a sewing machine where it is not seen. They would make nice table placemat's or gifts. I have never seen this technique demonstrated! Thank you for doing so brilliantly!
I just watched this video, great idea for the sewing machine. I just ordered me a new sewing machine and i think this will be my first project. Great video as usual. :)
love this. I hate that it going to get hidden under your sewing machine though. Too pretty to hide. These would also make great placemats don't you think? Or maybe done in some reds for valentines day.
I think it is much easier to sew your underneath fabric onto your face fabric by sewing around the heart, using a glue spray or stabilizer if you wish, but not necessary. Then separate the two fabrics of a heart by pulling out on the front fabric with one hand and the back fabric with your other hand. Cut out the front fabric heart with small sharp scissors, careful not to cut the back fabric, follow the heart shape. Then machine sew a blanket stitch, zigzag or a fancy stitch of your choice, or hand sew to complete the appliqué. A very cute project! Thanks for sharing!
Love this so useful but cute mat! Thank you, Debbie, for another great idea and instructions of yours! Just to check, did you draw the hearts onto the reverse side and place the scrap pieces of squares onto the right side, right sides facing each other?
I am definitely going to give this project a go I have a piece of cardboard under my machine it looks tacky lol i need something nicer so then the cat can have the cardboard and chew it to her hearts content lol Thanks for sharing this tutorial Debbie x
Do you have an instructional video for the board (it is cream w/ cat fabric) you are using to iron down the hearts on around minute 6 to 8? That board would be so helpful to not have to set up the big ironing board just for a few minutes of intricate work. It is a handy size for this. Thank you! Lorilyn
I love the placemat.. i was a little disappointed when after all that work and the applique thingy, it will be hidden under the sewing machine. i love all ur videos. im a beginner and never learned how to sew for 27 yrs of my existence until I decided to buy my own machine to keep me busy after my surgery. lol
Awesome tutorial Debbie, Question: I always do a miter ending on the binding so you can't tell where I began or ended on almost everything I make. Is their a reason that you finish off with a straight edge on you binding? And don't you find that point quite bulky when you hand stitch the binding on? Thanks again for all you tutorials! Cheryl
