Heart Rhythm TV Update: 2024 HRS Expert Consensus Statement on Arrhythmias in the Athlete 

This is such an important topic and I'm thrilled to see HRS tackle it. This is especially important for people with implanted heart devices. The recommendations from the 1990s are to "avoid contact sports". This recommendation was created in an era of Fidelis and Riata lead failures, but devices and leads are much more robust today. Combined with better implant techniques and products designed specifically for protecting implanted devices today's athletes are much more protected than years past. I love the physician's shift in attitude from protecting the patient to returning the athlete to play. This is absolutely the right course to take.
