I agree 💯 with you on that ! Was lucky enough to have seen both in concert. Another of my favorite singers is Kay Hanley from Letters to Cleo. Natalie Maines from the Dixie Chicks has an amazing voice also.
Johnette Napolitano anything Concrete Blonde. She is a powerhouse that went unnoticed. Patty Smyth her version of “Whole Lotta Love” on Letterman in 87 is killer.
There were a couple who came close. Janis Joplin really started the whole thing, and had an insanely strong set of pipes. Gayle McCormick from Smith sounded very similar to Ann Wilson and had a really strong belt range with lots of natural rasp. Grace Slick had a powerful voice, but her range wasn't much to speak of.
@@joeszczechowski8333 She was amazing. Wrote fantastic songs. She did not kiss corporate ass and refused to sex it up. Heart gave in and sexed it up in the 80z and made a ton.
This concert is 37 years ago.....Heart opened for Santana in The Dominican Republic.....They Brought The House Down.....This was their last song that night and it was something else.....
I saw them 42 years ago on their "Little Queen" tour at Convention Hall on the boardwalk in Asbury Park, NJ. They did this song and dedicated it to Elvis, who died that day the 16th of August 1977, during the encore.
I've seen Heart 13 times. I finally paid enough dues and was fortunated enough to see them in the front and center row at huge festival in st. pete, fl. That was in 2012, then the last time was in 2014. Nancy is my favorite guitarist, next to Hendrix, and no one can come close to Ann's vocals. Never before, or never again will there be another like them.
+Irena Holc actually I saw them in 2010, and they just keep getting better and a little heavier!! I saw them in 1985, 1998, and 2010, and I think they were at their best in 2010.. Ann was right on the perfect edge.. just a more kickin' sound than ever!! Nancy played more lead, longer concert, etc.. every way!
Hey Vern, my ma' was a big Elvis fan. She got to see him on the East side of Houston,TX. the first time at a pavilion called Magnolia Gardens. Then in Sam Houston Colosseum, both times in 1956. My dad saw him in Shreveport,La. before that.l think it was in '54 or. 55. He didn't think much of Elvis, being a Country&Western fan. Got to see Hank Williams in Shreveport also at the Louisiana Hayride, which was a live radio show in the Municipal Auditorium in downtown. Not an actual hayride show. I never got to see Led Zeppelin nor have had the chance to see Heart. Dig the shit outta Zeppelin, like a lot of Heart's music. I reckon l"like stop running my head!!!
This band with Ann out front is the only band that knows how to play Led Zeppelin right vocals are outstanding that's the foundation of any Led Zeppelin tune🎤☝👍👏😚
OMG I used to sing this version in bars (not as well as Ann!) whenever I knew the band~! I don't even know how I got to this page, but I'm so grateful~! It linked off a formulator's page! Synchronicity is amazing!
An opera singer once said Ann could be a good opera singer because of her voice quality and power. I could imagine if she trained as an opera singer, she could be as big as Monserrat Caballe or Maria Callas
As a teen there were 2 songs that completely blew me away and made me want to be a rockstar. This version of R&R, was the 2nd song. Absolutely CRUSHED IT! That one performance right there is a stand-alone clinic on how to tear it up!
August 16th, 1977, I saw them do this live at Convention Hall in Asbury Park, NJ. It was the day Elvis died, they closed out the show with this and dedicated it to the King.
Man, nobody can do it like Anne Wilson.Even Sheryl Crowe, but I love show quotes version of this song.Cause she's I don't know I can't choose between it too I need them both
in the late 2000s, Jimmy Page and John Paul Jones, along with Jason Bonham tried in vain to convince Robert Plant to go on tour, following the succesful O2 concert. They apparently auditioned some singers then gave up on the project. Ann Wilson should have stepped in.
If theres a band anywhere that can cover Zeppelin better than Ann and Nancy Wilson and Heart, i want to hear them. Good luck trying. Nobody does it like Ann.
Find a better cover then this..................................I'm waiting. 1982? Well that would explain why in 1983 at the SULLIVAN ARENA, she was DRUNK!
I Wuz there Grays Harbor 76,, God fucking holy shit Heart klicked my ass four ever.. Aberdeen Washington ya where it rains all the time.. Annie held the mike like a dick,, no dude left the gig with dry skivvies. Mutha Fuck best gig since I saw Jimi May 9 1969 Charlotte.
