I've worked in healthcare as ancillary staff learning how to perform EKGs, learning about heart sounds and sinus rhythmns, etc. This has assisted me in my own healthcare after suffering a myocardial infarction, currently suffering with heart failure, and now contending with my tragic personal life experiences. Thank you for confirming the knowledge endowed to me. Be blessed.

Well I cannot believe what just happened! I'm 63 and was shooting a video of my brother and our dog ...and upon replay all I heard was my heartbeat (with the murmur I've had since childhood (7/52 premie twin) and immediately googled HMs and have listened to various versions here. Don't know which category mine falls under but shall have to see my doctor I guess :-) just to check as have never thought to ask and never ever had any problems so shan't stress about it. Very very interesting, very long murmur sound¹

Thank you. I have tinnitus and any attempt to osculate outdoors or in a moving ambulance without an amplified stethoscope has, so far, been a waste of time . I also didn’t have a reliable reference for comparison of the heart sounds - till now. Would it be possible to get a brief explanation of each condition, what exactly we are listening to and looking for on the ekg with each.

An EKG may not be helpful. EKG looks at the “electrical wiring”, the sounds in this video are the “plumbing”. An Echocardiogram would go well here.

Would a transient split s2 explain why I can feel & mostly hear (against my bed per say) a seemingly irregular beat? And excuse me here but - a double boom & then like triple one? Ashley Youger palpitations. I had this happen to me because i started a cardio program and a new strong pre workout and it was too much it went away after a couple days but it was scary. If it’s chronic a doctor might have to reset your heart or you might have to make changes to your diet, exercise or other lifestyle stuff lol not saying anything but even lack of sleep could be stress enough. Good luck

@Emtprep 4 года назад
Hey Prof Oak, we definitely understand your point, but we can learn a lot by listening to heart sounds that are abnormal without listening to the patients heart beat when it was healthy at one point. In an ambulance, you won’t have the luxury of pulling up historical patient records. So in our line of work you have to know how to recognize patterns and make educated patient treatment decisions.
