Im from south brazil (where the flood is) and its hearthbreaking. Send prayer and good thoughts to us, 70 dead and thousands without home. In november us from south already suffer, now in May again. We have cities like eldorado do sul that 90% of the city are under Water 😢 the state is helping but the damage is too high, citiziens that have boat are helping what they could help. We have a sad story that a citiziens in a boat see a doll floating, but when he came to help it was a dead baby. 😢 send prayers, please. My family dont live in a risk place, but they cut the water (and in market already dont have) and no more gasoline. Just send good thoughts.

This is the worst situation I've ever experienced. I'm Brazilian, living in the state of Rio Grande do Sul, where the floods occurred. It's like a war zone; I've never seen anything like it. Unfortunately, the situation doesn't seem to be improving. Brazilians themselves haven't opened their eyes to this reality yet. While Rio Grande do Sul is underwater because of the floods, on the same day, the state of Rio de Janeiro was celebrating Madonna's concert. Many news reports and spotlights were on the singer, while such a tragedy was happening. Now that the hypocrisy is over, I would like to know if the singer will at least make a donation to help these poor souls. She received more spotlights, more attention from the Brazilian media than the tragedy that devastated an entire state. I hope that other countries, like the USA, speak up and expose the hypocrisy that many Brazilians had to witness in the face of such tragedy, because the American media talked more about the tragedy than the Brazilian media talked about Madonna.

Something like the Tsunami in Japan and Katrina in USA is happening right now in the south of Brazil.

I'm Brazilian and just passing by to remember: it's not just in Brazil that catastrophes are happening, this year there was an earthquake in Japan, Tornado in the United States, floods in Kenya, Dubai, Saudi Arabia, Indonesia. So don't say that it's just here in Brazil, and I hope that no arrogant Christian comes here and says that Brazil is paying.

So sad I feel bad for these souls that had lost there house love from France-

I'm from Porto Alegre, where the flood hit, and besides the flood, the city has almost no running water to drink or shower, no lights, and we're suffering from extreme violence. Criminals ares stealing Volunteers boats in order to rob people who left their houses. I've never seen something like that.

I'm Brazilian and I can say that given the size of the tragedy it's a miracle that not many people died, I say this because I live in São Paulo and every year this happens in the summer and a lot more people die than in Rio Grande do Sul.

It's so sad to see the scene with your own eyes, children, babies, elderly people, animals, all dead because of the waters, it's a total calamity, poor people who barely have anything to eat losing their lives, pray for our Brazilian friends. 😢

I live in the Amazon, state of Rioraima, for 6 months we went through a severe drought and a lot of smoke. In fact, all the rain that was supposed to have fallen here, for some reason, fell in the south. This tragedy is sad.

Sincere sympathies to those who lost families and friends in floods. And for all those affected by floods... Lost homes. Work etc. Hoping for safe recovery for Brazil. All the indidents of floods and disasters worldwide lend impetus to governments and businesses and individuals to work seriously hard to reverse ecological and environmental damage done over the years through greed. The reality behind the disaster here in Brazil is actually this: - Mainstream media here took 3 days to start really talking about it; - The absurd reason for that is because Madonna was going to make a show on Sunday; - For 2 days, Madonna's show had BIGGER COVERAGE than the disaster; - Madonna's payment was around 5% of the entire initial financial support sent by the president; - News about the tragedy only started pouring on mainstream media on Monday, and it was immediatelly turned into an explorable resource by the media; - The armed forces and local, state and federal law forces took way too long to act and were absolutelly unprepared for the situation; - The amount of troops that were initially sent to the stat was laughable, so was the financial support sent; - The population's efforts were responsible for the vast majority of rescues and donations; - One of the most famous mainstream newspapper in Brazil posted a charge saying the victms "couldn't cry, or the flood would be worse" -The president only stayed 3 hours in the state, and twice he showed incompatible attitude towards the peole (one by joking when he arrived, and other by laughing when deciding the state joint operation name); - Famous and influencers were solelly focused on Madonna's show and just like the media, come monday they flocked to their social networks to "pay their respects" to the victims and the people - The state is fining trucks that are bringing food and supplies because they were overweight and/or because there was no receipt for the donations; - People that had boats or any kind of water vehicle were PROHIBITED to help; - The president REFUSED international help offered by Uruguai; - Military and rescue forces from other states are being prohibited to help;
