I don't stay in Bt Batok. I am appalled to hear from this discussion what the TC had NOT been doing - that the town ended up with rat issue (hygiene), no water supply from fire hose (safety & readiness), construction work being left there unattended for 2 long years ( care-less). Residents of Bt. Batok are so blessed to have a potential MP who is willing to help them FULL TIME, someone who is so full of passion.
To all resident of BB, please give Dr Chee a chance. He is the most persistent, resilient politician I have ever seen. Never give up after every lost election. We need MP who serves from the heart and we know Dr Chee has all the compassion and humility that is needed.

Meet the people once a week, walk the ground once a while is just touching the surface of things. It's not fair to the residents. There is a difference between Public Services and who won the seat as MP for the ward. Just ask yourself - when they collect your CPF - the use a common one system in CPF Board. The use one rule to determine what you should put in and what you can withdraw. For Town Council - management - it is a Public Services to support the collection of Town-charges and town changes. The original Town Council application are developed using Tax Payers money for all the town-council. It is not dependent on whether you are a WP wards or a PA wards. So the Town-council current SOP has to be transfer appropriately to who-ever parties won the wards. The parties who won the wards should be the one running the town-councill and have the common facilities - even the PA's, CCs and RCs should be open to all public - instead of just the grassroots of PAP. Public services are paid by PEOPLE and not political link.
I also like CSJ I but I don’t ask others to give him a chance to enter parliament for that I feel we are looking down on him. I like the last part about parliament should be dynamic and authentic, where questions are asked, debates are conducted, to form the most innovative solution that meet the needs of Singaporeans. Why is there no referendums, why the ruling party do not want real oppositions (NCMP is 'unreal'), why are they always saying 'this is what voters want' when they want their way, especially in putting oppositions down? It dawn on me that perhaps it is about TRUST -- the ruling party does not trust that voters can make rational decision. TRUST works both ways: only through mutual TRUST can government and citizens work in tandem and unity.
Bukit Batok will have a Full time MP. Residents are likely to see him and his team during their lunch/dinner breaks in the neighbourhood as well as during office hours.
This is the way an MP should be, listening, down to earth and compassionate. Most importantly easy to reach out to. BB residents, vote Dr Chee in and give him a chance he deserves, you have a golden opportunity

I heard the residents views but I suggest you consult fire experts to advise how to keep & operate the fire host reel & such equipments should not be locked otherwise how to make use of it when there is a fire.

It is the town council and SCDF responsibility to do periodic Fire-system setup for the building. Some of the building did not even have fire-protection till today. All Fire-System design are approved by SCDF. There is a "BREAK-Glass" system in the modern world - and there is a CCTV's system to protect the common properties - paid by tax-payer. Instead - for the modern hawkers center which failed - they implemented CCTV's the supervise the auto-cash collection machine at each of the stall - and make live very difficult for the hawkers paying extra maintenance fees for the CCTV and the auto-cash collection machine. I really like the format of this residents' talk. I personally have watched videos and even attended zoom sessions for my own district and I wished it was conducted like this. Some speakers get carried away talking about problems they see in the government, leaving little to no time for Q&A. I believe it should be the residents who are talking. Residents want to be heard, even if it means putting the politician in the hot seat.
Dr Chee has 3rd best best loser performance after PSP West Coast GRC, WP East Coast GRC. Unfortunately the two remaining NCMP seats will go to PSP. In honestly I rather have Dr Chee/SDP representative become the NCMP than PSP which is basically a TCB's party. However I have faith and confident that SDP will have a representative in 2025. The only way to liberate Singapore from Political party monopoly is to dissolve all political parties where people are elected to serve the nation and not the party. Bring back the single candidate system and open all town for competent citizen who want to serve the country to be elected as MP. Allow these elected MPs then to debate over the plan for the country over the next 5 years and there select among them who is capable of serving as a Minister position (Yes, Minister position ought to be elected too. Till subsequently the MPs proved that they are capable of becoming one thru performance). Singapore should adopt the selection and election model of China to ensure no tom, dick and harry is allow to mess up the country. Political party affiliation is a waste of tax payer money and time. The western countries have proven that to be so. Often the politician know what is right thing to do but because he or she has to toll the party line, ended up making stupid decision. People just have to understand that stupid decision like discouraging people wearing face mask at early stage of Covid-19 has consequences. Eventually it will be people on the street whom is paying for the consequences. We as a small nation cannot afford mistakes! Yet there are people here still focusing on town council management? Keep the boat straight and the rest will run like clock work. It is the system that need to be corrected. Town council is only a small part of that system! This will ensure politician cannot hide behind the power of their political party and open up for checks and balance. This also prevent party leader from covering up their downline mistake in bid to protects it party reputation. When the focus is wrong, everything goes wrong down the line.

Managing agent really sucks. It is like receiving the mandate but exist as a sleeping director whereby the agent is hired to do the intended job for the mp while he sleeps or absence himself from office. At the end of the day, customers needs pay the extra costs while the the director comes out and claim credit for the work not done by him.

In that respect, CSJ has done a good thing by having small group dialogues sessions in casual setting of obtaining feedback with residents without the fuzz and buzz of PR agents and crews. I've slipped and fallen at one of the NTUC outlets in one of the ward during raining day. The tiles on the outlet ramp were replaced by non-anti-slip tiles. Sloppy work by the contractor and replacement work no supervise by the stakeholder. Suffer back pain for a few weeks.
PAP strategy aim high asking for strong mandate if the election result not good for them they will not loose badly...the opposition party also must aim high plan to change government not just to become opposition party but if they loose they will not loose badly
