How fortunate i have been to be a teenager in the 80's! Not not leave my 20's years and the 90's. But nostalgia of the 80's, sometimes drive me to tears.
As time goes by in her dreams, she discovers more and more. It's almost as if, at least for the length of this song, she has one singular dream where she's clutching a candle in the woods, and with a little trepidation. The dreams that she has are of one kind of fantasy where she seems to lose touch only in her waking moments. Put in another way, she feels like she's living two lives. I have my own unique interpretation which I won't share here but what a great song!
Could say my all time favourite song. Haunting and romantic. Brings back memories. Great song, great voices, great music and mystical words. A masterpiece 🌼

My interpretation of this song is that she is having dreams about a lover from a past life. They were reborn again in that time and now shes having dreams if him because her soul is missing him, but she can't remember his face clearly when she is awake. But she still wants to reach him. I imagine the other peinces in the wood are all the same man during his different past lives. I bet they have been lovers for all time. But the only way she feels close to him is in her dreams. I bet he has the same dreams about her.😌 One day, they will meet. Anyway, thats my little story!😁

In 1985, they signed with Columbia Records and got help from some celebrated songwriters. BERNIE TAUPIN (Sir Elton John’s longtime lyricist) penned this very piece, originally called “Boys In The Mist,” for STEVIE NICKS, with a dreamlike feel typical of her work. It's 2022 and this song reminds me of someone I was with in 80's and just found out he passed away in 2004. It was a special time and I use to play this song in my car all the time. Memories!!!
