My wife Jolene passed away 3 weeks ago. i wanted to hear some of her favorite music. She loved Heart in the 80s. Something about being a teenager in the 80s that will never be repeated. Best decade of my life ....because i met the love of my life.
This is me and my wife's song , 37 years strong . She was 15 and I was 17 , 4 children and 9 grandchildren. what a beautiful wife and life I have been blessed with
The 80s is one decade that makes you nostalgic about it even if you weren't from that era. Such is the power of the music that came out of all genres in that time!
Say what you want, but Ann Wilson has one of the most beautiful voices in rock music. Heart remains one of my absolute favorite bands, even at the age of 60.
The physic beauty and the voice of Ann Wilson are two of the best things that happened in my life. I hear Heart since my teen years, now I'm 58 and she is my platonic love yet.
1980's - teen. High school . Chicago North Shore Burbs 1990's- Twenties. College and U.S. Army service 2000's- Thirties . Building civilian career 2010's- Forties- Struggles struggles struggles 2020's- Fifties. Struggles struggles struggles
@@jojotv5345 hi everybody, I just wanted to share that while watching this band, it struck me more than ever how absolutely gorgeous Anne and Nancy's vocal harmonies are, and gave me chills.. especially on well, everything!! These women are masters. The band ain't too bad either lol.
+broadcast20081 Ann got weight issues due to the medications she had to use, so it's better this, though she still rocks with her band doesn't she? That's what matters.
Right! Everytime I hear a classic eighties song, it just makes me sad. It was a time when we were a nation of one no matter what. Anyway..dear eighties...thanks for the memories. 🇺🇸😞
I feel like it will.. These kids growing up now listen to absolute shait.. A very few will still remember and listen to these afer us that were born in the 80s or before, maybe 90s too but thet is pushing it
I dont know if yall know, Grace Slick and Mickey Thomas co-lead vocalists of Starship sing backing vocals on this track,so thats why it has such a rich, powerful sound with the Wilson sisters.
I had no idea! That's interesting, as I can't tell who's who, since they all blend together so well! You'd think that someone sight challenged like me who's a sound designer and is able to tell different voices apart would be able to tell those ones, but nope, they sound so blended you can't tell. To me, it just sounds like Ann and Nancy singing together in harmony.
Anne Wilson is so underrated. I’m always miffed when they do a diva thing at awards shows and she’s not included. She was the queen of an era in my view. She can certainly contend with Celine Dion and Aretha Franklin/Mariah. Vocal power.
i don't... there's a alot of amazing writers nowadays tho but people don't recognize them... like lorde for example... this generation is focused more in superficial stuff that can't even recognize real talent ( in general)
no ,none at all from today ,in the 70s 80s they wrote the timeless music and performed it aswell ,and played instruments and arranged it .worked hard .all totally opposite from todays fake disposable junk.
I was in my teens too in the 80's. Music back then had meaning and a story which you can relate. I truly miss those years!! Im 60 soon and keep wondering what happened to the time?!! When youre young time goes by so slowly but after 25, its Warp speed. Music has always calmed me down and made me happy. Unfortunately, not in such a good family but the music will always help me deal with whatever comes in life.
Seems weird when you see great singers and songwriters who could also play guitar and piano like Ann and Nancy and then you compare that to today and we have......Mylie Cyrus and Cardi B......does not seem fair!!
Gary Oak - implying that 80’s music wasn’t sexual or that shitty, pointless, generic pop hasn’t always been topping the charts. r/lewronggeneration head-ass. Also, a different way of speaking is not illiteracy; illiteracy is the inability to read, not speak a specific way, or what you claim to be “proper.”
On This Day (What About Love (Song) ❤Heart❤ (May 1985) "What About Love" is a song originally recorded by Canadian rock band Toronto in 1982. It was later recorded by American rock band Heart in 1985 and was released as the first single from the band's self-titled album, Heart. The band's "comeback" single, it was the first Heart track to reach the top 40 in three years, and their first top 10 hit in five. The song was also their first hit single on their new record label, Capitol Records. Grace Slick and Mickey Thomas, co-lead vocalists of Starship at the time, provide additional background vocals on the song. Background: The song was originally recorded in 1982 by Canadian rock group Toronto, of which songwriters Sheron Alton and Brian Allen were members. (The other songwriter, Jim Vallance, was not a member of Toronto, though he played drums on Toronto's recording of the song.) However, the rest of the band elected not to release the song, and the frustration Allen and Alton faced in being unable to convince their bandmates to feature this and other material on Toronto's albums led to their departure from the group. Later, Michael McCarty at ATV Music Publishing was reviewing his song catalogue when he came across "What About Love". He offered the song to Heart, who turned it into a worldwide hit. Toronto's original version remained commercially unreleased until 2002, when it appeared as a bonus cut on the CDs Get It on Credit and Toronto: The Greatest Hits. Reception: The song's sound marked a considerable change in the musical direction for Heart, moving from the hard rock and folk rock of their earlier work to a more polished, power ballad sound. "What About Love" received extensive airplay on MTV and returned Heart to the top-10 of the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 for the first time in five years, peaking at No. 10. The song peaked at No. 14 on the UK Singles Chart upon its re-release in 1988. Exclusively in its UK release, "What About Love" was also featured in an extended version on 12" and CD single versions. Cash Box said of the single that it "retains the punch of [Heart's] hard rock tinged mid-’70s successes with a new vocal and melodic pliability," also saying that it has "less emphasis on guitar solos and more songwriting focus." The song's chorus was featured in a series of Swiffer WetJet TV commercials from late 2010 into the following year. The campaign followed a series of previous Swiffer commercials using popular songs of the 1970s and 1980s. Heart: Ann Wilson - vocals Nancy Wilson - lead guitar, acoustic guitar, mandolin Howard Leese - lead guitar, keyboards, mandolin Mark Andes - bass guitar Denny Carmassi - drums Additional musicians: Mickey Thomas - background vocals Johnny Colla - background vocals Grace Slick - background vocals
I love how effortlessly Ann can transition from a pure, clear tone to a gravel quality and then back to pure and clear. There will never be another like her.
@Michael Sheehan - Although I (still) have a huge crush on Nancy, the backing vocals on this song were performed by Grace Slick! I own the vinyl album (original) and it says so in the liner notes...
In my opinion, the most beautiful singer ever in Rock, and both most talented sisters ever in Rock. The band is all around great. From love ballads to old fashioned hard Rock.
Don't let it slip away! Love is the greatest gift we have to give and receive! Sending love to my husband, who is waiting for me in Paradise. I love you always, Your Rose forever 🌹😢💕
