When we had a community that looked after each other, now the neighbours don't talk, all because they are so wrapped up in their little consumerist material world with their smartphones etc. We have lost the ability to interact and help each other out.
I want to start up a petition to bring back heartbeat 1970s on itv,how great would that be.in these troubled times something on a Sunday night, easy viewing.give a thumbs up for it.xx
Maybe as there is nothing else decent on on Sunday Nights ITV could just repeat the original episodes from series 1 onwards (the ones they don't show on ITV 3) to cheer us up.
It was I agree. I get strange looks when I mention to people that I used to watch Heartbeat, like they think I'm a right saddo, comments like "it went on about 20 years too long didn't though" lol. Yeah of course they will think that because they are glued to Netflix and all the propaganda and woke crap that's on there, not to mention Love Island and Married at First Sight.
I agree, pity most people I know have either never heard of Heartbeat and/or watched it. Most peoples idea of TV entertain consists of binging of crap on Netflix and all other subscription based streaming sites. Some of the shows on those platform have some very disturbing themes, alot of them quite prophetic when it comes to certain recent events, almost like they knew something in advance something was going to happen, take for instance the "pandemic", alot of shows and films made in recent years seem to eerily predict this.
I loved heartbeat it will be one of the best TV series l watch all the repeats on itv3 it like going back in time with happy memories why can itv bring back series like heartbeat again
@@Made1984. I agree, Heartbeat wasn't the same after he left (I wonder if he regretted leaving considering he pretty much did bugger all after Heartbeat apart from Harbour Lights and a lesser remembered series called In Deep?, can't have been the money as he was being paid about 30 grand a series - if only we could all earn that kind of money in our slave wage jobs lol). But I do agree with some that Heartbeat wasn't the same after Kate died. The show was originally written (I think the Nicholas Rea books were based on the same characters) to revolve around the lives of the village bobby and his Dr wife, and for Kate to die it left an empty space so to speak with noone to replace her role, so IMO it lost something before Nick left. Greengrass leaving was the final nail in the coffin for me, and I know alot of fans will disagree. Speaking of Greengrass, but I remember years ago my dad telling me that the original choice for Greengrass was going to be Derek Fowlds, and Blaketon was going to be played by Bill Maynard. No idea where he heard that from as this was back in the 90s when he told me this, whether this was mentioned on a documentary or in a book I don't know. I couldn't imagine Derek Fowlds playing a larger than life village rouge like Greengrass, and vise versa for Sgt Blaketon with Bill Maynard.
I know always had me in stitches that. Also, in a few eps Greengrass calls an horse an HOSS, no idea why but I do believe there was a comic book from the 1950s with a horse named Hoss, so maybe that's where he got the name from. Or maybe it's a Yorkshire saying.
Me too (well this is a repeat showing actually from 1995) and I was 14 lol. I think the target audience of Heartbeat for those who watch the repeats on ITV3 are mainly old people. Heartbeat seems to attract that age group; when I used to visit the village all I saw where old folk. Old people aren't exactly going to be subscribing to Netflix and Britbox as they probably can't afford it lol. Midsomer Murders seem to be aimed at OAPs, but unlike HB I hate it and can't understand why it's still going and into its 22nd series. I thought HB was corny but Midsomer Murders is plain cringyworthy, half the cast can't act for toffee.
Steve Oliver it is great you have this episode recorded from the first time it was shown on ITV on Christmas Day 1994. It would be great if more episodes recorded from when they were first shown TV were put up.
I have nearly every original broadcast recording of Heartbeat on tape. Some from the 1st (and I think 2nd) series were taped on their second run on ITV from 1995 (like alot of new shows Heartbeat hadn't really sunk in with us at that point) but from series 3 they are from their original broadcast, including this 1994 Christmas Day episode which we taped from the Granada region. Glad to see someone has uploaded it. I would do the same but I don't want a copyright strike on my channel. Most of the other channels uploading episodes are from the DVD versions, which don't contain the original Beatles and Jimi Hendrix songs, and probably why youtube aren't that fussed on deleting them.
@@toralm6974 I don't think they will have used the original songs as used on ITV broadcast, i can't imagine a TV channel in Norway wanting to pay a ton of money to use Beatles songs. Only ITV and the Britbox versions (which so far series 1-3 are available, no why only those three) actually use the songs when first broadcast.
It runs 5 episodes a week, lt is in serie 4 or 5 now and l am pretty sure they use the original soundtrack with Beatles, the Kings, Black Sabbath.. instead of cover bands. The same as ITV sendt on Television. Norwegian broadcasting has probably not bought the DVD.
American stuck in Japan. Started watching this a couple of weeks ago and have every day since. A good show and wonderful characters , I always get a kick out of Grassly. Starting to understand the accents better.
@@JohnPutnamalwayslearning wow! Do you really dislike it that much? Maybe you should just come home. I had a wonderful experience, saw and did lots of things, met some really nice people. I can't say enough good about it.
Quite simply when TV shows were family entertainment and not everything had to involve rampant sex scenes and overacting or political correctness just because it's stylish. Heartbeat was a magnificent series especially the first 7-10 season's
Just to add that aren't the opening scenes of the snowy landscape magical ? Seems to be just rain now, no wonder everyone,s so blo..y depressed these days.
Totally agree. One of the reasons I recorded these episodes was because they were winter based and absolutely gorgeous representations of Yorkshire in Winter. A bygone time. 👍
Personally l would like to finish watching the snow views they were finely covered, thanks for sharing. I almost forgot how lovely Yorkshire lookalike in winter. Merry Christmas to you all.
@@SteveOliverOne Is this from the original broadcast?. The reason I ask if that at the start the announcement says You've Been Framed is an hour, but the Xmas Day 1994 listings I've looked at for the Central region there's no mention of You've Been Framed but "Robin Williams in the Wild with Dolphins". I think this is probably from a repeat showing.
Live in Ireland too. Just get the sky codes for manual tuning and you can access itv 3 heartbeat every morning half 11. And actually it's on Irish TV virgin media two sky channel 116 at 4.50 and 7.50 everyday
Love the theme song who sings it? I never watched these kind of shows because I assumed they're all about the world war II era or the 1920s or 1930s I wish these shows would have been about the people who were living their lives during the '80s and early 1990s
Do you mean what year is being portrayed, or what year it was made & first broadcast? I believe at this point in Heartbeat, they’re portraying about 1964 or 1965. This was made and originally broadcast about 30 years later, 1994.
How did they go from Kate about to go into labour in this episode to the next series where Kate is still pregnant?. How did the scriptwriters manage to mess the storyline up?. It's like they just added the "yikes it's Xmas and Kate is going into labour" cliffhanger ending and decided not to show her giving birth when the first episode of the next series started but wait until ep 2, and hoping noone would notice that she should've already given birth lol. Clearly viewers aren't that thick with memories of the events from the previous series.
