Welcome to Goathland aka Aidensfield made famous In Yorkshires television's Heartbeat set the on North York Moors.
I tried to capture (unsuccessfully) just how close together everything is, as in the program you get the impression it's quite spread out!

Why didn't you stop in the Aidensfield arms? It's only £3 per night and, you get to meet Gina Lol... Seriously though, nice car, bet you didn't think it was going to be so muddy in that field lol.

the rooms in the Aidensfield arms were extortionate, but i would have willing paid every penny to meet our Gina, lol. i was a bit worried that the field mite be a problem, but the road, well track was like 10 time worse than the field!

@@Paul1962 Lol, she was a smashing looking Lass! Well, as long as you didn't get stuck and , you didn't damage your Porsche, I'm sure you enjoyed it up there. I found it a cold place when I went there.

don't know really, I did leave it in the pub car park a few times but never filmed it, I got friendly with the guy who owns the garage now and I think that's how filming in front of the garage came about

Used to go to the village back in the mid 90s to early 2000s during when Heartbeat was a much better show than what it later became, sadly ruined IMO by the silliness of Bernie, Vernon and David Stockwell. I don't know why fans of the show seem to love the later series as I thought it was never the same after Nick and Greengrass left. The earlier series were far better, more grittier with some great storylines mixed with some slight humour. I've noticed alot of people flock to see Scripps' garage but tend to forget that the garage was not always owned by Bernie but by a chap named Malcolm Mostyn which, co incidence or not, was named Mostyn's Garage and Funeral Services, but for some reason once Scripps appeared all reference to this earlier character got ignored as if he never existed. I think there's an ep where Bernie says he had owned the garage for years but that isn't true. People seem to have short memories when it comes to TV shows, likely because most fans who flock to the village now have probably only ever watched the crappy later series that constantly keep getting repeated over and over on ITV3 in a never ended time loop, but they never show the earlier episodes with neither Nick or Greengrass in them. We first visited the village in 1994 when Heartbeat would've been in its fourth series, my dad in his Saab 900 Turbo (sadly long since scrapped years ago, fantastic motor btw, 10 years old at the time and had done in excess of 100,000 miles when he bought it the year before) stopped at what would've still been Mostyn's Garage to fill up back when it was a working petrol pump and got chatting to two blokes running the place about the filming of the series.

@@janinapalmer8368 Yeah they certainly where better, the storylines were always gripping, but sadly as time went on, even when Greengrass was still in the show it started to become abit daft with more silly storylines, but it was still very watchable and I understand people on a Sunday afternoon don't want to watch storylines about foot and mouth and rabies (probably the reason why they toned the storylines down to suit the pipe and slippers OAP audience that the show was primarily targeted towards) but still they could've done without the OTT comedy with Bernie, Vernon, David and Peggy. Everytime I saw Vernon Scripps I couldn't get Onslow from Keeping up Appearances out of my head.

Roy hood, I hope you find this comment as I cant find your comment to reply directly, when I was carer for my mum we had to watch heartbeat twice a day every day as she loved it and her memory was failing and she never remembered watching the last episode, I think it reminded her of her hay days as well, so I just felt obligated to go see the place for myself and of coarse it reminds me of her.

When we went back around 2007 it looked lot better than this. They had a Moggy Traveller, and the Greengrass Truck, and an aweful Austin Morris that was the worse for wear. The Police Ford Anglia was in good nick though. I even had a piss in the Aidensfield Arms, sorry Goathland Hotel,

It’s a country lane, what did you expect. The poor people of goathland must get sick of people gorping into their homes.
