This devastated me! I feel like my husband left me and took the cats and kid.....but irl they are really sitting here in the room with me 😂 Geoff absolutely nailed this.
Your outburst at 12:19... gave me a good laugh.🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 Geoff Castellucci hasn't learned about limits and is always pushing them.😏 There's something about Geoff wearing black or gray clothes when he plays the piano that makes me curious.🤔
Geoff is a master at making an innovative and immersive soundscape. I have no doubt that bringing the bass drum kicks and creepy strings to the forefront of the mix was a very intentional choice. Also, no that wasn’t Geoff on that bass drop, that was digital. He recently said in a chat that he never sings the supporting bass hits or lines in his own music the way he might do for VoicePlay. He might have very low bass harmony, but not those kinds of foundational sounds as vocals in his songs.
I hope there will come a time when I can hear this without tears, but I am not counting on it! Also, isn't it about time that we rave over his acting ability? Or maybe it has been mentioned, lol. But he is a helluva an actor. Put that, the face, the body, the voice AND the low notes, and there is not much more to say. Lovely, lovely reaction and I am in total agreement with your comments. I look forward to "Sleeping".
I'm so glad you got both fans out for this one DJ! I expected the bass fan and then to see the other come out made me giggle so hard! Those high notes from Geoff are just another part of his masterclass. It's amazing how much he can do and how many ways he can blow us fans away, even when we've been his fans for a while! Can you believe it is almost a year since you found him and listened for the first time? DJ, have a fantastic day, sending you all the love! Thank you, as always, for this reaction #HerdLove
8:50 I think the word you're looking for is "haunting." And you're absolutely right! Big time goosebumps with this one! (Like that's anything new with Geoff...)
Geoff has fun when he gets to play with music and sound effects. He's previously used a clanging metal gate, shovel hitting sand, and shovel hitting dirt (all in I See Fire). The screenshot he shared for this one had tracks for whale and dolphin song, and locusts. In the premiere chat, he was like a giddy kid, pointing them out. "Locusts!" I didn't recognize it by name but I was familiar with the Chris Isaak song. Another of Geoff's skills is telling the story of a song, often better than the original artist, like he did here, in Ain't No Sunshine, and his arrangement for VoicePlay's version of Dream On. I don't want to fall in love, I don't want to feel that heartbreak. You FEEL that with Geoff's performance more than with Chris. Or at least, I do.
Wait until you hear the VoicePlay song...oh my Valkyrie loving heart!! It's reminds me of Xena lol. It felt otherworldly i can't explain how it made me feel
As soon as I saw your premiere scheduled, I shared it with a friend and told her I was looking forward to seeing you melt! Something about that lion's purr feels like a warm hug to me, despite the lyrics kind of being the opposite. If you haven't already, I recommend listening to this with your best headphones on and your eyes closed to see if you can feel it too!
Hauntingly beautiful. So glad Geoff did this, strangely I didn't even recognize it for a bit. I think Kathy mussed up his hair until it fit the song. Don't forget VoicePlay's Sleeping in the Cold Below (Warframe).
This reminds me a lot of his cover of high and dry, just the setting and tone .....i love it. Its so haunting. I told you to make sure you had Bae ready with a mop after this one 😂😂😂💜💜🦌
Haunting is the word most of us come up with. And heartbreaking. I don't know about Geoff's processes on this but he did say that by the tme he was done editing this his behind was numb. The sense of despair at the end of this is intense If you've ever been through it, you know, You just know. And yes his skills know no bounds.
