Carly is one of the finest singer/songwriters we've ever had. Her catalogue is astounding. She is able to take extremely personal events and issues and show how universal and connected we all are. There's an interesting paradox in Carly's songs. Her music is appealing and it draws you in, her lyrics can be laser like in how they deal with uncomfortable even dark themes.
OMG I can't believe all the shit she went through. She suffered a lot and she was in a lot of pain in her life. She's such a lovely lady. She went through too much hell in her life and deserves to have a good life. ❤

Taylor tries to keep this facade and reputation of being a "good ole country boy gentleman" about him, when in fact, he's nothing of the sort. His treatment of Carly is abominable.
He has every right to move on with his life and is a very private person - he has his reasons for not wanting to communicate with her any more. She seems very needy and still hung up on him, which couldn't be very pleasant for his present wife.
@@MothGirl007 Well, if just wanting to occasionally communicate with the father of their two children is needy to you... She's not asking to get back together or even be a big part of his life...just to occasionally talk.
She is high voltage lady and not to be messed with like in her great hit... Your so Vain. She is always recounting the dirty laundry about James and her marriage but they were both unfaithful. James is more reserved and doesnt embarras Carly with details. Im sure he doesnt appreciate her badmouthing him. 2 icons of my youth.
I read her memoir, it really bugged me that she let men just run her over, during the 60s and 70s!! This was a time when women were "libbing"! But, that said, she, to this day, lets men push her around, doctors, husbands, boyfriends, they all tell her what she can do and can't do. She makes all these excuses, but I'm the same age, and was raised in the same kind of atmosphere in California, but I refused to let men tell me how to think, act or not do something. Her excuses are just that, weak excuses. It drives me nuts, her bio made me mad as well, because she was so spineless...if I was a gifted singer and writer, I would NEVER put up with pushy tyrants, some women unfortunately get off on being badly treated, there is just no other reason for her behavior...
@@lwells3937 I was too, that's why I'm so strident about the crap she allowed, I don't hate her, I'm really, really angry FOR HER. I finally had to just not see most of family that tried to convince me that it was NORMAL for someone act abusively. They equated kindness with WEAKNESS. o So, po yeah, I know about it, sorry to make it sound so rude, I'm just like probably everyone else on earth who survives assorted indignities and has their personality stilted by hateful acts that the people who commit them refuse to take any responsibility for. We have to get ourselves back wholeness of a kind, alone most of the time. She was a rock star, yet every time she had been assertive in a normal manner, she was punished, or forced to do something degrading. I wish I could take every women and make them have a healthy self esteem. I'm NOT saying any woman is better than a guy, guys get abused as well, just we all deserve empathy and respect. Sorry, just want to be honest.
@@christineparis5607 I get it really, and sorry for what you went through. I see it all the time. Women acting like avenging Annie's then submitting to demeaning men. They'll take it out on you and me if we keep feeling sorry for them, extending their abuse to us. We can only live by example and give good advice until they commit more than lip service to their healing
she considered herself " a warrior"... a warrior who could barely make it through the day if people were involved. would that be a warrior of self? idk but it sure is a conundrum.
She didn't have a heartbreaking life, in summary, she died, and that equates to tragedy esp with famous people because there is some strange idea that they're immortal or that death isn't a part of life.
