A lot of the Blackrock cards seem like Blizzard is just going around saying "wouldn't it be cool if this card was good?" without making the card good.

How is some one who plays so much Hearthstone and has a very analytical mind so bad at evaluating new cards? Dragon egg is hot garbage. Nerubian egg is good because a 4/4 is itself enough of a threat to justify the 0/2 base creature and the combo or synergy requirements. Dragon egg is in most cases gping to yield a delayed 2/1 for one mana which is worse than the normal curve (leper gnomes are 2/1 AND they provide 2 alnost guaranteed damage.) It doesn't matter if the meta is aggressive or control, dragon egg is just bad unless ypu combo, and even if you combo it is only so good.

is it possible to make a mech preist deck that sort of aggro and controlling?

Looking at those patrons, eggs and flingers I kinda think that it would be interesting to build a deck around getting your minions hit as much as possible. Warrior seems to be the right class for that since he already uses cards that require taking damage like armor smith or acolyte, warrior also has cheap weak aoe that can be used for that.

Coming to a highlight reel near you - someone is going to do the Axe Flinger + Bouncing Blade combo, where you play out Cho with a priest, Divine Spirit the crepe out of Axe Flinger (so that it has something like a million health - I remember seeing something about there being an upper limit before the game spazzes and kills the minion, but I believe that's around 2 billion) - getting rid of every other minion on the board (likely just Cho/s), and then Bouncing Blade, to see how much damage gets done to the opponent before the game stops and just considers it done.

For the dragon egg, I'm wondering if swapping it's health/attack (like with a part) would count as a "dealing damage" to it or just kill it outright without activating the card.

im surprised he didnt compare violet teacher to the dragonkin sorcerer... Because that's basically what he is... instead of summoning 1/1s he gains 1/1 and the spell has to be on him, but more or less he is a variation on the violet teacher and kripp didn't catch that at all?

I have an idea for warrior card. Convert health into armor. Could synergize with a few cards.

Does anyone else feel like all this dragon stuff really seems best in a priest deck right now? Because of the fact that he summons a little dude for the opponent, Hungry Dragon is almost like a pseudo injured blade master; you can attack into the minion you summon with something else and then heal, allowing you to use circle of healing and hero power to get "value." Blackwing Technician is a 3 drop with above average health as long as you have a dragon. Dragonkin Sorcerer, like Kripp said, will clearly work best with the priest buff cards (although it might not see play). Even dragon egg could have some durdly synergy with some of the priest buffs.

Lava Shock is ludicrously good, as any Overload Shaman could tell you. Hell, even just understanding simple mathematics can show you how good it is. If you unlock two mana from the previous turn's Overload, you just dealt 2 damage for free. If you unlock three mana (such as the Earth Elemental's Overload), you just added "Deal 2 damage" to the Coin. Also, it's at least a Darkbomb if you have your Wrath of Air, even better if you unlock mana.

The video preview should have more contrast, so it wouldn't look like one with the already watched filter on it.

i think dragon egg give a chance for warrior agro. turn 1 - egg turn 2- taskmaster so turn 2 u get 2/1, 2/1, 2/2 (with the chance to get another 2/1 once egg hits)

Between the Grim Patron, Axe Flinger and the Dragon Egg there will hopefully be some synergies released with either the rest of the dragons or spells. Not that I think we need even more aggro options, just these cards will be a little lackluster. Hopefully they'll release some self damage battlecry dragons.

I think Lava Shock's biggest problem is the fact that it only deals 2 damage. Two damage is too low to really do anything, it almost never kills anything. Yes, it can take down Micro Machine and Knife Juggler, but that's about it. It doesn't deal with Northshire Cleric, Harvest Golem, Snowchugga, Annoy-o-Tron, Mechwarper, and a whole list of other played early game cards. And it sure as heck won't deal with midgame cards, where you actually want to play Lava Shock. I think this translates into Lava Shock not really doing anything; you either two-for-one yourself and you gain some mana. Now it's trying to be a clunky removal card with an extra, but I think it fails at both. If you cast Feral Spirit and Lava Shock the next turn without killing anything, Lava Shock simply reads "Unlock your Overloaded Mana Crystals" for 2 mana. I think this card would've been a lot better if it simply read "Unlock your Overloaded Mana Crystals" and cost 0 to cast. At least it would successfully fulfill its function.

Also for the Dragonkin Sorcerer, don't forget that Spare Parts are also spells. Could make the card more viable.

Lava shock miracle dream combo Turn 7: G. Auctioneer + cloakfield Turn 8: Lava burst x2 + Lightening Bolt/Crackle (you can replace Lava burst with spirit wolves or L.Storm. Turn 9: sneak in a Lightening Bolt/Crackle, then lava shock GG unlock 5/6+1/2 overloaded mana!!!

As someone who plays Shaman and Math Warrior, I'm pretty happy with both Lava Shock and Axe Flinger. I respect Kripp's knowledge of the game, but as someone a little closer to those decks, I think he's expecting a bit too much. He seems disheartened that they're not "OP", but that doesn't make them bad. I think both of them are solid additions to each class's arsenal. And in regard to the statement about each class getting two cards, I don't expect one card to be good, and the other not so much. The thing about these Adventures is that by bringing so few cards into the picture, they better be playable. No more than 5 cards from Naxxramas didn't find a home in SOME kind of deck. That's a pretty good ratio. Some of these might even be great ideas in testing that just don't cut it when millions of players get their hands on them, but I'm sure Blizzard's giving an honest effort to keep things interesting. Besides, you can't really judge the whole thing from just 7 cards. It would be like if all we knew of Naxxramas was Stoneskin Gargoyle, Nerubar Weblord, Deathlord, Wailing Soul, Echoing Ooze, and Maexxna, and just assumed the whole thing was going to suck. And shit, even Kel'Thuzad wasn't nearly as good as people thought he would be until recently. So just because something looks amazing doesn't even mean it will be, and just because it looks like crap doesn't mean it will be. We really just have to wait and see.

Lava Shock as i see it lets you play early removal spells without compromising your next turns tempo, or something like playing feral spirit turn 3 and then turn 4 lava shock their damaged minion and play another two drop.

a wild suggestion but axe flinger may kinda revive the otk warriors, we already have a card that will make his effect proc 5 times - from gvg, and maybe even the new legendary will find a place in there :?

what about turn 6 Feral Spirit and Lightning Storm, Turn seven Lightning Bolt and Lava Shock, i could see that happening a lot

So, Kripp thinks that very few overload cards are being run atm. Crackle + Lightning Storm are staples in most shaman decks. Feral Spirit is run in at least some legend shaman decks, though often as just a single copy. Neptulon is quite popular in midrange/control shaman decks due to the synergistic card advantage he offers. Beyond those 4 cards that are currently seeing play, there are others that could potentially be run in the current meta right now, but don't for one reason or another (often overload combined with minion stickiness/health): Forked Lightning, Lightning Bolt and Stormforged Axe all have credibility despite overload. Even Lava Burst (well, it is 5 for pseudo-5, so not the most efficiency, but it is a fair amount of guaranteed direct damage), Doomhammer and Earth Elemental aren't bad cards. Really, the only cards that probably still wouldn't possibly see competitive play even if Lava Shock became a thing would be Dust Devil (terrible without shock, not even good with it), Dunemaul Shaman (a 5/4 for 4 isn't exactly impressive stats, even if it has the chance to attack twice - and even then, it's an ogre that might mis-attack) and Siltfin Spiritwalker (shaman murlocs don't exist competitively - you can be happy to see this card out of Neptulon sometimes, but it's not like you're intentionally putting it in your deck).

dragonking sorcerer works with all the 1 drop spare parts so it is easy to buff if mech continues to be so prevalent. Not sure if its worth it still but the idea that you have to play the big buffing cards to use him is wrong.

Dragonkin Sorcerer with Velen's Chosen is a pretty nice combo.

So with Rend Blackhand, if you have this card and a dragon, and the opponent Handlock plays Jaraxxus, instant win? :p

I disagree with your view of the Dragon Egg. It's a 1 drop that sits there and when it dies you get a one drop.

With Lava Shock, if you're overloaded, you can deal 2+ damage (Shamans can easily buff spell damage) essentially for 0-1 mana. Shamans play Lightning Bolts, Lightning Storms, Crackles, Feral Spirits even now, so a lot of overloading happens.

well dragon egg spawns 2/1 which are basically crap. enabling the neurubian is already somewhat hard. it might see some play in hard enabling zoo decks, but its prob crap

What makes Dragon Egg good is that it's the second sticky 1 cost minion in the game (the first being Argent Squire). Minions that take at least two actions to deal with are inherently stronger than a lot of equivalent cost minions. In a lot of ways you'd probably play Dragon Egg in a similar way to Acolyte of Pain: Try to setup a situation where it can survive at least one hit.

axe flinger, commanding shout, bouncing blade is a win condition when you clear the oponents board beforehand. The life totals on both sides are of no consequence for this win. dragon egg + cuel taskmaster is a legit turn 1+2 play that results in two 2/1 (one with pretty much the same deathrattle as the harvest golem) and the 2/2 task. And it is playable without the coin and the egg summons a 2/1 if it gets cleared by damage before you can combo it. And death's bite not allways outclassing arcanite reaper in every situation might not be a bad thing. There might be a playable not-entirely-control warrior after the expansion.

Dear Kripp, Dragonkin Sorcerer says "whenever YOU target this minion", so your enemy targeting him with his spell also is considered "YOU" - there is no "owner" keyword used, this is also confirmed in Polish card version, which says - in translation - "whenever it becomes target of a spell". You're welcome ;)

dragonkin sorcerer has potential i think mark of the wild, 6/8 with taunt for 6 mana isnt bad at all. possible to innervate on turn 4, but still is a slow card. although it will be a strong silence target :(
