First: your army has basically no arty, and u need the HEAVY arty to be effective in this mod. Cas and tank are innefective until later date. U should do 14 - 4s our even 11 -6s with Heavy arty and attack with multiple directions. U also would be better of by NOT sending troops to your allys, they are just going to atrition u to death. Those troops are better in your front. And to beat the german AI u need to let them push and then use your effective 40 w to encircle them, AND maybe naval invade, but with good divisions aswell bye

@@dacacar2850 your welcome. But all depens on your nation doh. If u were to play Russia for exemple, I would spam 20 withds only infa to defend and make 14 -4s to attack. As Austria I would do the same. The UK is an special case, u can do whatever u want in it, same as USA. France got to hold, but to push in needs 40 withds

@@Kenfren Depending what you consider a victory. Japan never could have won but Germany could have beaten the British if they played their cards right (looking at a war purely logistically makes no sense). Italy should have one in North Africa from a logistical perspective and probably should have if they had gone on the offensive at the start of the war. As for the USA and USSR I agree both wars were impossibly costly to Germany and the Nazis probably couldn’t beat either of them.

"I didn't think they had a navy." Battle of Jutland? The German obsession with trying to build a navy to rival the UK was one of the main reasons the war happened. Also, Japan did join historically. I'm not sure this guy knows a lot about WW1. Also, Italy didn't betray the central powers. The Central powers made major moves in the Balkans without consulting Italy like they were supposed to. The Italy intelligently decided not to join the central powers suicide pact.

That's not true, Italy was officially in the Central Powers, and many Italian generals and officials expected to make moves on France. So it's no surprise that many in the government and citizens alike were confused by the decision to betray their allies in the Central powers.

I remember playing the great war, 30 million deaths between the 2 factions 10 years have passed and here is what’s changed, Germany lost the metz province, and I pushed 7 tiles into Poland, I could AFK at 5 speed and nothing would change, I eventually gave up.

It was pretty historical must I say. There was stal are on the Westrn front, Italy was pushed back to Piava river, the Entente created the Saulon front in the Balkans, Romania, Serbia and Montenegro got overrun, US joind the war and Russia collapsed.

In don’t think you’re doing much wrong, the Great War mod just highly favors defensive units because of the time period. Maybe there’s a different division composition meta, I don’t know too much about that though

hello Alex; You will probably never read this comment but in this mod heavy artillery is quite broken. having an army of 24division with 60 widht of a mix between infantry and heavy artillery is the way to go; you push on concentrated front line (like 4-5 tiles) with full planning bonus and you don't forget to rush that sweet doctrine

I recently started to play a lot of the great war mod and found that the best strategy was to make your front line mainly of 20w infantry units with support companies just for the defense with a few 20w 7-2 units if you have enough artillery, then to breach enemy lines i make about 4 to 6 40w infantry units with 6 howitzers in them to get enough soft attack and breakthrough, then lastly have about 4 to 6 20w armored car units with armored cars and either cav or motorized in them for the speed to go as deep into the enemy as I can and try to encircle the enemy front lines and wipe out their infantry. I tried it as Germany and France and worked perfectly, due to high defense and entrenchment values in the mod, if you cant push straight away i usually wait until the enemy either transfers its units to other fronts or rearrange its front line before i attack. I usually try to have at least 4 (24 unit) armies on the field to make sure I have enough units to fill in the gaps and defend against counter attacks.

Road to 56 had an update I think in response to battle for the Bosporus DLC. They revamped Turkey and Iran. I've been playing that recently. Not bad but good old Kaiserreich is still my favourite. They did a big update for the United Baltic Duchy and Romania. Keeping the duchy together and reforming the constitution is a good challenge with a lot of flavour and roleplay. You might enjoy it.

Hey rambler, u asked what u did wrong. Short answer, nothing, this mod's combat system is pretty bad. However, there are some thing u can try: 1-Tank divisions (I used heavy ones, they are pretty expensive but we're the only way for me to get anything done early on) 2- 40 width infantry divisions 4 artillery is mandatory, u don't need to retrofit ur whole army, have an elite squad that I use for surgical strikes in order to push, think of them as your tanks.

germany and austria-hungary don't sound so powerful but once you take into account that they have the combined militaries of prussia, hanover, bavaria, austria, czechoslovakia, hungary, transylvania, northern serbia, croatia, bosnia, galicia-lodomeria, saxony, westphalia, and more, you can start to see why they actually stood a chance

I had a Great War Italy game that lasted until 1926. I had to wait and build 40 with heavy tanks with CAS to break the front-lines of Austria-Hungary and Germany with any Entente allies. I don't know if it was worth it....

The only thing i have an issue with in this mod is that Italian troops just spawn at libya. As someone who plays ottomans all the time in this game its hard to win, but i still do. But after i kick them out in libya the war doesnt end so i have to invade Italy too.

On the diary allergy, same here man. But for me it wasn't that difficult to figure out since I love cheese. So I have a nice Raclette or Fondue multiple times the year. And guess how much time I have to spend on the toilette afterwards. xD But it's totally worth it...
