@@axtaria01 yeah this is true. Don't quote me on any of the next bit but I seem to remember a leak that indicated hoi4 would go into 2023 before ending and there would first be a Nordic pack, then a middle east and Italy pack and then finally a south America pack. I can't remember which order exactly but I'm 100% sure south America wasn't first and the nordic one wasn't the last one. Again take this with a massive grain of salt because its me remembering, which is unreliable, a leak which is just as unreliable
We used to study Katyusha and Polyushka Polye back in 4tg grade. As a kid I always thought that although Katyusha carried this serenity and beauty it lacked the "power". Katyusha's lyrics are definetly those full of emotion and what Paradox has done is make the emotions be delivered with POWER. Like a punch. I love it.
More like "kick the door and the whole rotten structure will come crashing down!" Hitler: *kicks door* Door: *falls to reveal millions of soviets and tanks inside* Hitler: **shoots self**
@@darthdogeyt3260 More accurate would be this Hitler: "Kick the door an the whole rotten structure will come crashing down" Hitler: *Kicks door* Door: *Kicks back* Hilter: "Owe..." Door: *Calls forth a army of angry russians* Hitler: *Shoots self*
It is physically impossible to listen to 2:18-3:24 without picking up your Mosin-Nagant and crossing the Volga with the 62nd Army to keep Stalingrad out of the claws of the fascist beast
God damn this song does really follow the timeline of operation Barbarossa. Very slow paced and mournful at first, reflecting the absolute decimation of the red army and the loss of life with it in the early stages. The build up around the middle of the song, reflecting the turning points at Stalingrad and Kursk in '43. And finally ending with a glorious Soviet decimation of the Wermacht and minor Axis forces in operation Bagration all the way to the climax at the end with the fall of Berlin and the end of the war. The very end gets almost mournful again, but with a different tone. Paying respect to the ~10 million Soviet soldiers and civilians who died, but with a positive outlook on the future, at least at the time.
Aye. I noticed that too. And was about to comment about, till I saw ur comment. I played with this in the background when playing as ussr once. And right at the buildup I began winning again. Made me feel goosebumps
How about this: I feel patriotic about a country that dissolved before I was born, where I never lived, neither any of my relatives and friends. I never even set foot in it. :p
I think its supposed to represent the soviets finally overcoming hardship towards the end of the war so the music ramps up in hapiness that the war is turning, the industry kicked in, and the bubbles turned green, so to speak.
Absolutely love this song, you can feel the turning point around 2:10 when the Soviet Industry kicks in, new division are deployed, and you begin pushing the Germans back.
For some english users there is a cool fact about the song. I think most of you know that Katyusha is a MLRS. Song was wrote before WW2 and Soviet army named the MLRS after the song. And after that song has two meanings. First (the original one) is about a girl who sing her song and asks it to follow the sun till her lover hear her. And the second one about MLRS turned out to fit perfect because there are lines like _apple trees and pears blossomed_ _the fog swam above the river_ (which is a spring the time when soviet army got Katyusha MLRS into service and the counteroffensive started) _Katyusha came ashore_ _on a high and steep shore_ (MLRS got in position) _came out and started to sing_ (MLRS opened fire) (actually the words are "pesnyu zavodila" zavodit' is more like starting the engine. Katyusha starting the engine of her song for more precise translation) _Oh the song the girls song_ _Fly after the sun_ (projectile flying to the sky) _And say hello from Katyusha to the warrior at the far border_ (Neutralize the enemy on our border) _Let him recall a simple girl_ _Let him hear how she sings_ (Katyusha is indeed a simple (cheap) girl but at the same time it sings (shoots) and strongly damages the enemy. Dont forget that) _Tell him to defend his own land_ _and Katyusha will save the love_ (Defend your own land instead of invading us and Katyusha will save her ammunition load instead)
You gave it real pretty meaning but you kinda left out the part where it sings that Katusha promises to survive for the sake of one she loved, one who's letters she saved so it's just a love song about a woman waiting for her solder to come home. A lot of just spelling details of Russian language says that too. You can find pretty meaning in a lot of things if you look for it, but it's not necessarily true 🤷
@@no_one_cares_really I literally told that main meaning is about a girl who sent letter to her beloved And it's just cool that most of the lines fits perfect for the weapon

Säkkijärven polkka perkele! That's what the Finnish radio stations were spamming, to jam the radio network during the winter war, so Russians couldn't use their radio-controlled mines.
0:00 could be 1939 cause they weren't at war with anybody apart from poland 1939-40 Then again it could also represent how well the soviets could be so maybe 1:33 would be kursk which i think was 33??? Wait stalingrad was 33 too right??
@@waltuh2.3bviews3secondsago3 33? I think you mean 43 and yes Stalingrad was still ongoing in the first months of 1943 but the battle started all the way back in august 1942.

God, if my country had music like this, I would march into the fray, right into the heart of battle, and come out victorious because of the raw power the music gave me. Come on, people! We need more like this!
2:13 evokes the feeling that after having endured seemingly insurmountable catastrophe and immeasurable suffering, the Russian bear has finally awoken, and the red tide will now surge west and expel the Fascist invader... Fucking sick
Fitting, because that’s what happened. I can’t even comprehend how United States would change if it had to endure something as traumatic as what the Soviets did.
@@mileshill7196 Oh lord, the world would be ablazed if the US suffered like the USSR. We all thought we saw America's wrath during the Cold War, but that was practically nothing.

Joke and politic aside. This song is a masterpiece and the instrumental played by the HOI4 team is more than outstanding, it gives a strong feeling to whoever hear it. Im not even Soviet people but i feel patriotic, and at the same time also sad because this beautiful proletariat country has dissolved.
@@randomguy2023 it is well made anyway, better than the original and the original made by the red army choir was great by itself. But i always wanted a version like this
You took this to another level, i thought people were stupid by saying Russia instead of Soviet union, but seeing your comment im not sure anymore. It wasnt just soviet russia, it was many other smaller countries which were part of ussr.
I’m an American, born and raised. But I can’t help but feel the emotion, the triumph, the rage, the pain, and the relief of the not only the Russian people, but of all Slavs from the worst of times of the Second World War till the end of this God forsaken war. It’s in my blood, and it’s all thanks to those who fought against the Nazis. Without them, none of us who come from Eastern Europe would be here today.
Yk I never thought about leftists like that.. There’s liberal leftists, and actual leftists, such as communists socialists and anarchist. I’m sure there’s more but I can’t think of them.
as to how russia survived ww2, i have no clue, but this song really represents the loss, sacrifice, grieving, and ultimate victory that the people of the USSR experienced.
The enemy was brought to lack flexibility on one hand, and tenacity on the other. After freedom of maneuver was attained, there was not much they could do to win. And the rest of the world never knew how it was done because international messaging was interceptable. So, the most the West ever heard of the matter was Reich propaganda detailing glorious victory after glorious victory - but careful listeners noted every one was always on the defensive, and always one river closer to Berlin.
@@DarjeelingEnjoyer bro stop with the American lend lease thing, yes it helped but it didn't give the dozens of millions of people that faught for the USSR, share credits you US Diehard fans, I do not support communism or the USSR existing but please stop, give credit to the dead, the USSR had already dissolved, USA is not competing with no one when it comes to credits of WW2 in terms of still existing countries.
@@DarjeelingEnjoyer the USSR literally has the most deaths in WW2 I guess those people just magically died in non-war related things. And don't bring in the cruel USSR part, that's completely different from war related deaths.
it's genius how the song begins from a slow and solemn opening, possibly matching the sheer gruesomeness of the opening days of Barbarossa, to become an almighty crescendo of noise and sound equating to the sheer waves of Soviet Rifles and Steel. glorious
It took me 5 minutes to take mp3 file from the game files and upload it here, i wouldn't say i deserve it, but it always feels good when something you upload gets this much attention. Cheers!
The way the Soviets kept fighting even after the pigs reached Moscow gives me a feeling I cannot describe. I think the USSR is the unique true winner of the ww2
Listening to this while watching Eastory's animated eastern front is awesome. You get to see the German advance whilst listening to a sad tuned Russian song, then in 1943 (if you skip to there) you'll see a Russian counter-offensive that'll keep going backed by an upcoming, more enthusiastic beat. Finally in 1945, the Russians have made it to Germany and the Balkans where the failure of Barbarossa bites back on the German's heel. It is just an extraordinary feeling.
0:00 - 1941 - Operation Barbarossa Begins and the western regions collapse. Kiev, Sevastopol, Smolensk and many more fall, Leningrad fights on and the Germans reach Moscow 1:32 - 1942 - Battle of Stalingrad begins, Operations Uranus and Saturn turn the tide and for the first time, the union marches west 2:05 - 1943 - 6th Army is destroyed and the Battle of Kursk takes place 2:56 - 1944 - Leningrad relieved, Sevastopol is retaken, and Operation Bagration breaks the German Army 3:25 - 1945 - Poland is liberated, the Allies cross the Rhine from the west, and Berlin falls
Idk if it was done on purpose or not but the music begins somber, just like the soviets in 1941 then throught the song it gets more intense, and more triupmhant, peaking at the end, like did the Red Army in 1945
So, hear me out. This was released 9 months ago. That means that there's a very, very slim chance that a baby that's alive and breathing today, might've been conceived to this song. Slim, but impossible.

Best piece of Paradox DLC ever. I had 0 interest to play USSR, just bought it to use tank customizer for Germany, now I cannot imagine play anything but USSR in this game.
I love that this song can sound like soldiers marching or tanks rumbling or Soviet industry pumping out munitions all based on what you imagine when hearing this
I like how at the start of the song, I in a state of was awe from the beauty of the strings instruments, then when things started to pick up the pace, I enjoyed the feeling of the track, it sounding more militant; until the drums hit in which was like a little warning for what was coming up, making the song even more militant, then in a instant, I get drop kicked in the jaw by low brass, which it seems they have as much low brass players as the Soviets had soldiers, now it sounds like the embodiment of what the Japanese felt when they got news that the Soviets were attacking after they just had the first atomic bomb drop on them and hearing that they somehow managed to sneak tens of thousands of soldiers into Manchuria; after getting jumped by the low brass, the strings got my back up with a more relaxed tone, for the low brass to immediately drop kick my in the jaw again. It’s beautiful.
